What fun! I don't think you know how funny it was to hear you suddenly say, "Oh God!" when spreading the pour of the marsh area and adding stain and then you did it again for no reason because it all ended up fine. I hope you had as much fun as I did on this end, lol. Very enjoyable video, Jersey Bill
Thanks again Bill yes it’s my all time weakness just chucking stuff in and having a go. That said it sometimes turns out ok but usually not! All the best to you over there! Simon
It was pretty tense watching that resin pour, it must have been way more tense for you! Incredible watching the bubbles disappear almost by magic. The pond looks really great to me, good job.
Great video again Simon. The pond is looking good. Can’t wait to see those cooling towers, they look amazing. Don’t you just love it when you think something will go wrong and it turns out great, a sort of happy accident as it were.
Great video Simon and thanks for taking the time to create and upload it. I think the water feature looks excellent and that tip with the blow torch was amazing to see in action. Can't wait for next weeks video now 👍
Great layout Simon. Have watched you right from the beginning. Fabulous. Have finally subscribed. I'm OO with a large layout, Love O GAUGE of which i have a class 37 which i run at the club. Can't wait to see yours with all the buildings. Mick.
Its a balancing pond the "little lakes", keeps the water table down in the surrounding area and provides a reservoir for runoff in periods of prolonged rainfall.
I concur with a lot of the comments. It was edge of the seat stuff and the magic bubble removal was fantastic. I love the scale of O but it makes for a huge layout but if you have the space then fabulous. This is a great start to the New Year , thank you.
Happy New Year, Simon. There's nothing wrong with your very own stagnant pond. I'm looking forward to all the bits and bobs to finish it off next week.
I didn't like to say anything but wondered about the water being about level with the track and thought you would of planned on making a bit of a gradient over the bridge, anyway all looks great now you got that sorted.
@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428 OK As long as you don't mind. Some I have pointed things out to have been OK about it, some think they are not going to change things even though they look wrong so I tend to be careful what I say.
Another cracking video, great trains too, loved the resin pour and neat warming trick. Looking forward to the cooling towers too👍 Any chance of a video on how you weather your diesels please 🤔🤞🤞 Happy New Year Simon 🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞😊😊😊💜💜💜
@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428Thanks Simon, I was hoping you might have some short cuts to weathering diesels, I've not weathered many myself tbh (although I've weathered lots of other models in the past 50 years 😲😲 - scary when I totalled it up), so it'll be interesting and useful to see your methods. I've not as many as you, but still feel a little overwhelmed 🙄😀
@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428 Good luck with that low temperature , I work with epoxy resins finishing fishing rods and find anything below 20 degress causes problems with blooming .
when i do water i put a layer of duck muck and some reeds for first pour. then i add fish and more weeds then on the third pour i put in water fowl and water reed(using long grass) the result was 15 mil deep but gave a realistic and then put a flow in with glue to give white movement. Will be interested in your approach and final look. caroline.
The "flat earth" paint had me worried when it was wet, but what a difference when it dried; so much more settled-in.👍 ......What with this flat earth paint, what's next; moon-landing sceptic resin?😊
I was wondering when you were getting rid of those bubbles. I watch a couple of woodworking channels and they use a blowtorch to get rid of them on their resin tables.
Hi Simon, really enjoying your channel. I was looking online for info on Tour Dates for 2025 and onward. Can’t see anything listed. What are your plans to tour the UK? Cheers, Guy
Hi Guy there won’t be any dates this year while the extension is being built. I’ll announce dates towards the end this year for 2026 though. Best regards. Simon
Great video. Techniques, experimentation, insight, trains running, your weekly postings have all this and more, thank you
Pleasure John it’s great to have your support 👍

Thanks Duncan yes resin pours you get no second chances but I think I got away with this one ! Thanks for watching & best regards. Simon
I love the look of all that rolling stock
A few bob`s worth there...👍👍
Yea it’s all very similar stuff at the moment be better when there’s a bit more variation 👍
@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428 I don't know. I love big rakes of similar wagons. Especially at that scale. Looks the biz.
Brilliant vid, with some excellent advice on post-resin pouring. That blowtorch worked a treat! Looking good.
Thanks John all the best
Simon

New river looks great. Love the dumped bike, but where's the shopping trolley and road cones?!!!
Can’t get a shopping trolley in O gauge! Have to look for traffic comes tho!
Great piece to watch. Thanks for allowing us to see the project move along and take shape.
It’s a pleasure it certainly works both ways for me as it pushes me to get stuff done! All the best. Simon
I never stop learning, and I wish you well.
Thank you that’s a kind comment. Best regards. Simon
Brilliant Simon good old muck and bullets approach on the water pour like you I think it's going to look the business
Cheers Martin it’s not quite there yet but I think it’ll come together.
All the best 👍

Ah cheers Phil thought it was something like that 👍

No problem and thank you for watching much appreciated!
Simon
good idea with the bubbles. leave some in for fish bubbling under the water. caroline.
Another good point 👍
Happy New Year, Simon. There's nothing wrong with your very own stagnant pond. I'm looking forward to all the bits and bobs to finish it off next week.
Thanks it should come together hopefully 👍 All the best. Simon

Thanks Robert it works both ways as the videos help me push things along! Cheers. Simon
happy new year. caroline.
And you! Simon
Superb Simon. Great progress.
Thanks & best regards to you

I used yacht varnish for one of my layouts. Took ages to dry, but looked great!
Yes Yacht varnish is pretty good too 👍

Hope it was warm enough in there for the resin to cure properly , it doesn't like low temperatures much
Good point it’s about 8-10deg in there. Oddly it’s warmer in winter than outside but cooler in summer
Thanks for watching! Simon

I’m going to try some of these ideas thanks 👍
Another great video. Please wear a mask when cutting MDF, it's dreadful stuff.
Yea I’m going to use ply from now on thanks for that 👍

I still can’t believe the difference it made. I’ll definitely use that from now on 👍
Great video once again Simon, how do you manage to film the locos while travelling at speed ?
To be honest I was just walking alongside the layout trying to hold the camera phone steady!

my ducks eat duck weed which would be useful in the top layer. Look in stagnant water round you. A little goes a long way. Caroline.
Thanks Caroline great idea didn’t think of that one ! Simon
Hi there. need to come and see heaton lodge 2 when near us in Gloucestershire or if you have open days at your cellar. Caroline.
