This episode I complete my tavern set with a couple bookcases. I will be giving this complete set away to a Patreon supporter. This build is done with only a utility knife and dollar tree foamcore, no fancy tools or materials.

I made these today, and while i was painting on the black coat... My girlfriend came over and gushed about how cute my little bookshelves were, and then she proceeded to sit down and make 50 little books out of paper and foam-core to fit on the shelves. Lol.

Back to basic. One of the thing I truly love about this channel is how you show multiple ways to built dependent on the tool and supplies available. Awesome.
I'm trying to balance the content to suit a variety of needs....not easy to do, but I try.

I like that you show how to do this with multiple tools. Just a reminder for all, fancy tools are nice but a skilled craftsman can go without. I can make perfect circles and cut foam nice and smooth and I do not own a hotwire cutter. It is not necessary even for the complicated builds. It does make building much easier but not impossible without.
I want to make little shelf inserts that i can switch out depending on the setting! Glasses and liquor bottles for taverns, books for libraries and wizard’s studies, herbs and potions for an apothecary, maybe general goods for a shop! Since my mom is is into dollhouses it would be super easy with her help. She makes inserts like that all the time!
Love your videos and as a person without alot of the supplies you use, and im thankful you went outta your way to make one video a harder way for us.
I can't do it all the time, but I'm making an effort to do stuff every so often that requires no special tools.

Yea, I gotta stay true to my roots. And trying to spread the message that better tools are great, but not a requirement. You can tackle most builds without them, it will just take longer and need some extra effort.

Great back to basics video. I enjoy watching your craft videos. I use simple and basic tools to craft. I don’t think I will ever get a hotwire or other tools to craft so having to watch videos like this is very helpful to me. And I am sure there are other crafters out there who are on a budget like I am. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Like I say, the fancy tools make things faster and easier, but that doesn't mean you can't tackle most projects without them.

Glad you were able to get a new mashine. I hate it when they just die like that. My laptop is going slowly but at least I have time to backup everything. Is your computer anything special? Did you look for something in particular for doing your channel?
The new system is a maxed out 27" iMac. Previously I was working on a Mac Pro desktop, that was a beast....but I had been using it for nearly a decade as a music producer. So it was a hell of a machine, but still 10 years old, but incredible it still kept up for video editing at that age. I'm pretty sure it was just the video card that died on it, but with it's age it wasn't worth upgrading any further (which I had done several times over the years). I took out all four internal hard drives, and dumped them onto a new system and was back up and running overnight. I also switched editing software at the same time from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premier, and taught myself how to use it over as fast as possible. The last several episodes have been done in the new software on the new machine.
The iMac also sets me up for transitioning the channel into 4k video in the future since it has a 5k display.
Nice! I'm still playing with the idea of doing a channel. Mine might just be an overall RPG stuff channel. Builds,reviews, adventure ideas, Homebrew ect....

The easy peel for the foam is it only from dollar tree because I know from a different video that it only an outlier. If I can't find any from a dollar tree what the next best type of foam or is there a name for that kind of foam board the easy to peel off?

I bought elmers foam board the paper does NOT peel off like yours shows in the video it is driving me mad! Ive went to the store and tried to peel the paper off as yours does and only one side of one board started to peel like it does in your awesome video what do i do?! Am buying the wrong foam board or what?!
Yes, you are buying the wrong stuff. Only the Dollar Tree stuff peels easily. All other brands require water, alcohol, or steam to get the paper off.

Black Magic Craft something told me to stop at dollar tree today but I figured they wouldn't of had it sense nothing has gone my way today lol, but I was able to use the elmers board but it took almost 64oz of alcohol on 2 boards and over an hour of soaking on both and the foam is not sturdy at all and is blowing apart as I cut it!!!! I about jumped off my 3rd story balcony to end my suffering today lololol but thank you so much for the info and link I will be hitting the dollar tree tomorrow! By the way i absolutely love all of the videos you're super good at what you do and have taught me alot and my craft has improved 1000x sense ive watched the videos. Keep the videos coming!
Hot wire cutters are only $25 to $30 US Dollars (and literally sold at every craft store, many 'big box stores', home improvement stores, and even Walmart)... so yeah if your into gaming and building your minis it's cheap enough to grab one.

you keep harping on about mod podge..l did find it in one of our Australian haberdashery stores, Lincraft, BUT it seemed to cost a fortune for an 8 oz tub..and there seemed to be different types, though in the end the packaging said they all did the same thing..what is the pricing like for this product in Canada/States..?? here it was $20 AUD for the 8 oz tub..that is very expensive glue/lacquer..what is the consistency of this product..?? is it closer to PVA glue or more like glag or somewhere in between..?? also, dollar tree store..is it a store that sells items as the store name implies, items for a $1 or are they generally more than that..the foam core you use, in the big sheets, is around $9 AUD a sheet here, but you seem to imply that this stuff at a dollar tree store may only cost a $1 per sheet, or at least two..what are the pricing comparability's between countries..??
It can be bought here for about the same price as pva glue. I have a whole video explaining why I use it. Foamcore is $1 a sheet.
Wouldn't it be nice if you took some of the funds and "surprise" one of your followers who is just starting to get into the crafting scene with a foam cutting, carving, or specialty tool?

I've lost a couple people from it (which is fine I don't blame them)....but I've gained way more even just today. I think most people supporting the channel really believe in it and won't drop support just because patreon is diverting a few cents of fees to them. Honestly I wish they left it alone, I'd rather take the cut on my end.
