They probably send astronauts to the space station in the orbit, then proceeds to nuke the target on its way back. Soviet's maximum utilization policy probably
Oh interesting fact, well actually I have no idea I have never tested it myself. Apparently, the nuclear missile will do less damage if the building are tightly packed together, and there are a lot of them. I saw my brother do it once. He placed a bunch of buildings right next to each other and made enough to fill the nuclear missle's AoE, and it didn't kill buildings it normally did like power plants. I have never tested it myself, but it cool to see if it is true for everyone.
You need to fit as many buildings as you can into the area. Your probably at 8x6 or 10x 8 grid. It was never something I encountered in the game normally. It was a stupid number of buildings placed right beside each other. Seeing my brother do it was cool, but it wasn't useful. I was never going to be able to build a base as large at it need to potentially take advantage of such a mechanic if I could even get it to work myself.
I'll test that and let u kno...although the nuke's range is about the same as a 3x5 grid of power plants. anything outside of that wouldnt die whether there was something there or not...just my experience and likely the truth. you should probably test these things before talking about it also...
Jemille Vailet I'm not expecting anything significant XD. Thanks, but yeah for all I know it was a bug in our game. Although, even if it was it was an interesting, but completely unless bug. Thanks for testing it regardless.
Yuri's genetic mutator is fun to play with. One can actually change the type of infantry the weapon can transform into. In my wacky world mod i make Mutator to transform enemy infantry into desolator. and of course much shorter cooldown time XD
I believe there was issue with the Psychic Dominator. With the Lightning Storm and Nuke, there were warnings that they were coming. Not very good warning but you could at least do something like move units or throw a forcefield over your vital base parts. With the Psychic Dominator, however, there is no warning. It's just bam, go.
On paper, the Super Weapons seem balanced... but this is once again a situation where certain ones are broken and the others just are okay. Of the Low Tier Super Weapons: Genetic Mutator, Iron Curtain, Chronosphere. Of the High Tier Super Weapons: Psychic Dominator, Nuclear Missile, Weather Control. Yuri gets the high end of all situations, because of the value his super weapons offer. They allow him to break the game in borderline unfair ways. With the Genetic Mutator giving him infinite Money courtesy of Brute Grinding; and the Psychic Dominator essentially being an instant Nuclear Missile that also gives you control of any units caught in the blast that aren't immune to mind control. Yuri is honestly OP as hell when Super Weapons are on, which is funny because he really shouldn't be. If the Genetic Mutator was used the way it was intended, it just allows Yuri to convert infantry into Brutes. Good against Commandos, but often large squads of infantry aren't very common; Brute Grinding however gives Yuri a downright dirty way to increase his funding without even needing a harvester. Soviets have the most general super weapons, courtesy of the fact that the Iron Curtain combined with a bunch of Rhinos = Death incarnate. There's no real counter (unless you do some cheeky Chronosphering), so you really need to be on your toes to stop it. Ultimately, I would argue the Iron Curtain is stronger then the Genetic Mutator in terms of that; but it's key to note that while the power to destroy a base is super strong; it's not as powerful as having infinite cash and just mass producing endless hoards of ANYTHING. The Missile meanwhile does it's job effectively. High burst damage, reliable kill power, also leaves radiation. Very efficient. While I rank the Allies the lowest, the Chronosphere does have the most utility of all the Super weapons (and hey, unlike RA1 there's no Chrono Rift as a penalty of spamming it), allowing you to jump anywhere on the map. Using it with Transports, MCVs, or anything can get you a lot of battlefield presence and surprise attacks, or you can use it to dump key enemy vehicles into the ocean. It has a good chunk of reliability, the only reason I rank it the lowest, is because it doesn't give you endless cash, or instantly win battles like the others do. The Weather Storm meanwhile is just.... OOF. This thing rarely hits what you aim at, and when it does; the damage is usually mediocre unless you get a direct hit or two. While the other super weapons reliably destroy things as they should, I find the Weather Storm only does what you want like 2/3 times. It is good against hoards of vehicles though, so go figure.
The Psychic Dominator only mind controls units in the center tiles, not everyone. What makes it the best superweapon is that there is no warning unlike the other 2, thus you can't Force Shield or Iron Curtain your stuff. Iron Curtain is the best low tier superweapon on small maps, Genetic Mutator and Chronosphere are better on large maps.
Don’t forget that if Yuri can capture a tech airfield, he can get Initiate paratroopers for free to further take advantage of the Brute grinding. And while it’s technically not a superweapon, Yuri can exploit his Cloning Vat with a Soviet Barracks to train scores of Conscripts for cheap and 2-for-the-price-of-1 for even more Brute grinding.
3:34, didn’t the U.S do exactly that sort of test in the 1950’s, to see how their fleets would fare under nuclear attack? Edit: I think the weather storm looks the coolest but I prefer the nuke. And of the secondary I like the chromosphere more then the iron curtain.
That only happens when properly coded. Lighting effects are coded on a per-map basis, and if they're not coded properly or at all, you get the normal, bright lighting.
when i play red alert 2 , the first i use nuclear silo i thought i put the target into nuclear silo so it can fire but the fact that i destroy my base and i lose vv
Weather Storm: Good with construction and best with vehicles Nuclear Missile: Slightly less damage with construction but best with infantry Psychic Dominator: Good with construction and can mind control some units, but cannot directly destroy vehicles
Another good thing about Psychic Dominator is that it is instant without indication that it is about to happen. So if your enemy has it up, you have to be wary to spread your units around. Also, you can shield your buildings against other SW, but with PD the time frame to do that is very short.
I am so happy this game is still played. I love it. Anyone know where i can still play with original voices for Flint Westwood and the rest in Hollywood?
the scarier part is a weather control device IRL is cheap! it uses flares imbedded with catalytic nanoparticles and about 10 drones to blanket an entire city. but unlike the game it requires specific conditions to use and only works when free water vapor is present in some amount
tg You hold T, then click the building. It's different than what players are used to (especially with how you TypeSelect everything else), no idea what they were thinking when everyone is used to just hitting T instead of holding it down until after selection. My guess is they were trying to appeal to StarCraft/WarCraft players, but I don't think you can even TypeSelect there.
It’s been years since I’ve modded this game. Literally years. If I recall the storm actually did have a wider cell spread. Also to surprise spending where the Russian weapon landed you can take out a weather control device or chromosphere and nearly wipe out the construction yard. It was either that or the lightning storm can IF you find the specific spot to place the storm.
The big difference between Nuclear Missile and Lighting Storm is that the first one is lethal to all living creatures, while the latter is deadlier on vehicles.
Fun Fact: The Weather Machine build menu icon has an incorrect German Translation: It should be "Wettermaschine", not "Wetterstation", which means "Weather Station". (I'm not fluent in German, but find this a little odd, considering I viewed the C&C Wiki page for it and was curious.)
U all know there's a trick to built train and built soldiers and tank faster, u have to build minimum 7 barracks and war factory, themln the unit will be build more faster. but make sure u have a tons of money.
so if i can guess this right, they all have special things like this is strong against this and weak againt this, but over all: nuke is good for big areas, storms r good for medium areas, and dominator is good against small areas? btw does weather control device have any special effects on the base like lowering power or sth? and can the dominator mind control mind controlled units? nice vid as always
Dominator can control mind controlled units, tested it myself in an on-going game. Weather storm temporally shut downs all enemy radars (yours and allies's radar is still working).
I am just starting this video and I know there are probably many people like me who don’t want it to be this way but the weather storm is the strongest of them all. I know this not only from observation but from the ini file editor named tibed. The area damaged is larger and it can actually destroy a construction yard if I recall. However the soviet weapon has an extra kick with the radiation against land units.
Personally, i think that either Lightning Storms can start a full assault in a certain area. Since its almost unpredictable, you can seize a quick opportunity with this one. If you want supreme damage, then you could take the nuke, which deals supreme high damage. Or if you want to create an ambush by your Opponent's stronger units, you could use the psychic dominator to initiate.
dracmeister Wrong. It does work on your own troops, making them permanently immune to mind-control. I think another Psychic Dominator changes the side only, not make them give up their Psionic immunity.
Thor: Slave Miners (when in mobile form) count as a vehicle, and Yuri's Dominator doesn't damage infantry or vehicles, instead permanently mind-controlling those in the blast-center. However all miners (including Slave Miner and its Slaves) are immune to all forms of mind-control or capture. That's why the Dominator is useless here. tg should've used a Battle Fort instead here.
Based from the test... I can deduce that: *PD* : -focused on a small area -1 time blast explosion effect to structure and none against unit since (all unit will be under mind control). *NM* : -focused on large area with splash damage -damage over time for a short period -1 time blast explosion to both structure and unit. -unit in the blast radius will be instantly killed (meltdown). -unit that moves over within the blast radius after the blast explosion will take damage over time until the unit died or the damaged over time ended first. (The green nuclear area after effect) Edit: except for marine unit because even in reality, nuclear dissolves or breakdown faster within water so the after effects is shorter on water compared to land. *WS* : -area damage is spread into wide radius. -random attack with a number of blasts. Erm maybe around 15-20 lightning (just my opinion). - each lightning strike caused huge damage to structure and instantly killed any weak unit but since it is spread it doesn't necessarily will destroy everything within the radius except for being the center of the radius will take the most damage. And no after effect after the blasts. *PD: Psychic Dominator* *NM: Nuclear Missile* *WS: Weather Storms*
Does superweapons have advantages and disadvantages against armor types? Cause in this vid Nukes cant destroy steel type armor like Patriot Missile while it destroy concrete type armor like reactors(not nuclear reactors), production buildings, battle labs, etc., same goes to Psy Do. Weather storm destroyed steel types with ease and although it does considerable damage against concrete types( minor reactors, battle lab, ore refinery).
The whole game is just weird,I've been playing it for more than 10 years and yet I can't who's stronger than who,I don't think yuri is op tbh, like seriously look at the fucking allies
Hard to say i think to the most part its personal preference. However Yuri is definitely broken during endgame, because he basically has infinite money with genetic mutator
What? the Psychic dominator doesn't mind control units spawned by destroyed buildings. if there happened to be an engineer standing next to his con yard then why not just capture the conyard instead. You will probably have to sell it given its position but you could probably manage to get a barracks out first.
Lets say i have one war factory and three miners, thats pretty normal and will keep my units production kinda smooth, but if i create another two war factories, the production of units increases and thus more miners are needed, the question is like following; what is the ideal number of miners per war factory needed to keep the production going (without hearing insufficient funds :D ). Say i had 8 factories, which boosts the production to max, what is the minimum number of miners needed in map like rekool or redzone?? (just to keep scarcity out of the equation)
@@peterbahy7868 Having more than one war factory only decrease the production time by a little bit for every factory built. My take on that is, you'll have to adapt your miner quantity by your production rate, I mean, if you are constantly building units, you will need atleast 4 miners and 2 refineries.
I thought that non-stop unit production is key to winning xD and you definitely want more factories than your opponent I also believe 4 miners per refinary is okay idk man, i personally find managing the economy the hardest thing to maintain while playing, if you go broke you lose instantly
They seriously nerfed lightning storm on YR, on the vanilla a lightning storm can take out an MCV main building in one hit given that hit is lucky(i played the game a lot and confirmed it myself). Its because the LS(lightning storm) has a continuous beam of lightning hitting the middle of where u click the pointer and many randomized lightning beam in its range. If u r lucky, those random beam can hit the main building(cause its big) and deal additional damage to it. I played multi with m friend back then and use it. My force fail to attack but took out his vehicle factory, I then strike his main building with LS and destroyed it in 1 hit. At that point hes ded af(no main building and no factory to build the MCV)
The WCD seems like it has rng elements to it, would be nice to showcase that and how consistent/not it is compared to the other 2 SW which are seemingly consistent.
Allies are the best because Arnnie Frankfurter AKA Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sammy Stallion AKA Sylvester Stallone, and that Cowboy with revolver AKA Chuck Norris from allied 2nd mission would be a thing. Put them all plus 2 veteran status guardian GI in a battle fortress then give it psychic immunity then it would be a 1 tank army. Overpowered against Yuri.

Weather control: Effective against units
Physic Dominator: Destruction and mind control
Iron curtain: support
Chronosphere: instant kill, troller, very effective with demo
Genetic mutator: hell's you get $

Such a big rocket with a small area of explosion!

that´s what she said
They probably send astronauts to the space station in the orbit, then proceeds to nuke the target on its way back. Soviet's maximum utilization policy probably
The MIDAS one can destroy the whole town, its Tactical Strike not Strategic
But in the Chicago mission, it did create a huge fallout
Oh interesting fact, well actually I have no idea I have never tested it myself. Apparently, the nuclear missile will do less damage if the building are tightly packed together, and there are a lot of them. I saw my brother do it once. He placed a bunch of buildings right next to each other and made enough to fill the nuclear missle's AoE, and it didn't kill buildings it normally did like power plants. I have never tested it myself, but it cool to see if it is true for everyone.
just tested it with a 3x5 grid of soviet power plants. all of them died
Kinda Worthless to have your base packed tightly like that when you could be expanding towards the next ore field.
Warning nuclear missile launched

When I was like 7 years old
I try to put the lighting storm in the middle of my base
Well you know what happens next
Yuri's genetic mutator is fun to play with.
One can actually change the type of infantry the weapon can transform into. In my wacky world mod i make Mutator to transform enemy infantry into desolator. and of course much shorter cooldown time XD
Try converting the slaves from slave miner into brute. An easy cash if you have a grinder.
I think tg could make a whole playlist on fun and silly rules.ini mods.
Red Alert Logic:
A Nuke can't destroy a building, and also all the superweapons CAN'T kill the air units.
Hell yea
Air Units are Magic don't you know.
They fix this in C&C Generals :)
@@skak3000Well I didnt knew that.
Plus, that's a differrent game than ra2
I believe there was issue with the Psychic Dominator.
With the Lightning Storm and Nuke, there were warnings that they were coming. Not very good warning but you could at least do something like move units or throw a forcefield over your vital base parts.
With the Psychic Dominator, however, there is no warning. It's just bam, go.
Good video by the way, please upload more, thanks.
Thank you mate, I will!
so , among the three superweapon it depends on the use
Yea basically
Great job man...appreciate the efforts put in videos...
Thank you my friend!
I'm impressed of your experiment and now I'm your new subscriber
Ťhë Řäíð , hehe
3:50
Says "Yes Commander?" With a cute voice
*dies*
the Dreadnought didn't die though Also cute is debatable when we are talking about a missile launching death machine here.
you can be cute and death machine
Nostalgic , thanks for uploading
3:34, didn’t the U.S do exactly that sort of test in the 1950’s, to see how their fleets would fare under nuclear attack?
Edit: I think the weather storm looks the coolest but I prefer the nuke. And of the secondary I like the chromosphere more then the iron curtain.
I thought Ligtning Storm makes the whole screen becomes dark... Does that only happen in RA2 and not in YR?
Yours won't make your screen dark
When enemies use their SW it will be as you said
I think he meant the battlefield itself going dark, which does happen, usually.
That only happens when properly coded.
Lighting effects are coded on a per-map basis, and if they're not coded properly or at all, you get the normal, bright lighting.
Lighting from LS is map based iirc. So it is probably just the map maker forgot to set the lighting during LS
It took 2 superweapons like Nuke Silos, Weather Controllers, and Psychic Dominators to destroy an Construction Yard.
Weather control is so sporadic
when i play red alert 2 , the first i use nuclear silo
i thought i put the target into nuclear silo so it can fire
but the fact that i destroy my base and i lose vv
You should try nuking weathercontrol system and making storm on nuclear silo
The buildings are durable. Capable to shrug off any single superweapon without a scrath.
Damn, I need to play this game now.
Allan Sh , you MUST ;)
You feel like superweaponing someone?
Weather Storm: Good with construction and best with vehicles
Nuclear Missile: Slightly less damage with construction but best with infantry
Psychic Dominator: Good with construction and can mind control some units, but cannot directly destroy vehicles
*_“ BE ONE WITH YURI !!”_*
Another good thing about Psychic Dominator is that it is instant without indication that it is about to happen. So if your enemy has it up, you have to be wary to spread your units around. Also, you can shield your buildings against other SW, but with PD the time frame to do that is very short.
Yuri : See...my Super Weapons it make for peace it kill nothing and then join my force now! (that apocalypse tank is awesome)
I am so happy this game is still played. I love it. Anyone know where i can still play with original voices for Flint Westwood and the rest in Hollywood?
After reading this, I am so lucky that I still have original CD Installer
Hm.. never thought that Nuclear Missle can't destroy Patriots with strict detection... Thanks for video. Great Job as always!
the scarier part is a weather control device IRL is cheap!
it uses flares imbedded with catalytic nanoparticles and about 10 drones to blanket an entire city.
but unlike the game it requires specific conditions to use and only works when free water vapor is present in some amount
If click all the same building is too slow
Try to press T while click at building
And all same building will be select if you press fast enough
And T button can use for the same purpose like the thing above to units
In Yuri's Revenge T hotkey doesn't work for buildings unline in RedAlert2
@@tg.Sacred but I can do
Glitch ? Rewrite script ?
On my PC
tg You hold T, then click the building.
It's different than what players are used to (especially with how you TypeSelect everything else), no idea what they were thinking when everyone is used to just hitting T instead of holding it down until after selection.
My guess is they were trying to appeal to StarCraft/WarCraft players, but I don't think you can even TypeSelect there.
hmmm I see, thanks!
*Nuclear Siren wails*
Conscripts: Welp, for the union!
Nice vids! Subbed!!!
Nice one mate
U all know there's a trick to built train and built soldiers and tank faster, u have to build minimum 7 barracks and war factory, themln the unit will be build more faster. but make sure u have a tons of money.
ua-cam.com/video/irXWq94q8Uc/v-deo.html
so if i can guess this right, they all have special things like this is strong against this and weak againt this, but over all: nuke is good for big areas, storms r good for medium areas, and dominator is good against small areas?
btw does weather control device have any special effects on the base like lowering power or sth? and can the dominator mind control mind controlled units?
nice vid as always
Dominator can control mind controlled units, tested it myself in an on-going game.
Weather storm temporally shut downs all enemy radars (yours and allies's radar is still working).
Dominate=Mind control in center
Nuke=Leave Radiation to kill off unlikely survivors
Lightning Storm=Shut off Radar for duration.
Personally, i think that either
Lightning Storms can start a full assault in a certain area. Since its almost unpredictable, you can seize a quick opportunity with this one.
If you want supreme damage, then you could take the nuke, which deals supreme high damage.
Or if you want to create an ambush by your Opponent's stronger units, you could use the psychic dominator to initiate.
It's pretty amazing some buildings could withstand a nuclear fallout LOL.
Fallout only damages units and not buildings
4:42 Yuri's Super weapon does not act on slave miner? dafuq
in general, it doesn't work on your own units.
dracmeister Wrong.
Slave miner, when deployed, can be captured with engineers.
Because it has no effect on mind-control-proof units.
Nuclear Missile > Weather Controller > Psychic Dominator
Chronosphere > Iron Curtain > Genetic Mutator
Yuri > Allied > Soviet
Based from the test... I can deduce that:
*PD* :
-focused on a small area
-1 time blast explosion effect to structure and none against unit since (all unit will be under mind control).
*NM* :
-focused on large area with splash damage
-damage over time for a short period
-1 time blast explosion to both structure and unit.
-unit in the blast radius will be instantly killed (meltdown).
-unit that moves over within the blast radius after the blast explosion will take damage over time until the unit died or the damaged over time ended first. (The green nuclear area after effect)
Edit: except for marine unit because even in reality, nuclear dissolves or breakdown faster within water so the after effects is shorter on water compared to land.
*WS* :
-area damage is spread into wide radius.
*PD: Psychic Dominator*
*NM: Nuclear Missile*
*WS: Weather Storms*
Does superweapons have advantages and disadvantages against armor types? Cause in this vid Nukes cant destroy steel type armor like Patriot Missile while it destroy concrete type armor like reactors(not nuclear reactors), production buildings, battle labs, etc., same goes to Psy Do. Weather storm destroyed steel types with ease and although it does considerable damage against concrete types( minor reactors, battle lab, ore refinery).
if you are allied it's easy to counter nuclear missile and psychic domination by using chrono legionaire on your own buildings
7:00 p.m. January 19th 2023 storm is a better super weapon for scaring people
Disappointed that no one commentated the sounds affects themselves critiquing everything I saw
I remember my dad would always run towards the comp whenever that siren sounds ti check his base lmaooo good old days
Im still young but I always check my father if the sound came from the computer
Wish someone still makes this kind of game... I find it more visually pleasing than 3d polygon of the C&C general
Fun fact: You can also control enemy units by using a Psychic Dominator on them.
No shit
Next
Fun fact: GIs cost 200 dollars
it's a fact for sure but is it fun? i am not sure
my favorite part is that Yuri let's us know the power of Kirovs if we think superweapons will win the day.
It means i did not play the full anf complete version of red alert 2 😣
The whole game is just weird,I've been playing it for more than 10 years and yet I can't who's stronger than who,I don't think yuri is op tbh, like seriously look at the fucking allies
Snipers inside IFVs, Tesla Troopers and navy seals too.
Once you get battle lab as allies, yes you become overpowered. 5 veteran Guardian GIs inside a battle fortress, and it practically erases tanks, lol
Hard to say i think to the most part its personal preference. However Yuri is definitely broken during endgame, because he basically has infinite money with genetic mutator
yeah well, strangely everyone is ob in this game lol
totally agree
Only uses psychic dominator on enemy conyard and when engineer spawned by it's destruction, capture enemy barracks asap
What? the Psychic dominator doesn't mind control units spawned by destroyed buildings. if there happened to be an engineer standing next to his con yard then why not just capture the conyard instead. You will probably have to sell it given its position but you could probably manage to get a barracks out first.
Very useful, can you please research the best ratio of miners for how many war factories??
Hello,
Can you explain a bit better please?
I thought that non-stop unit production is key to winning xD and you definitely want more factories than your opponent
I also believe 4 miners per refinary is okay
idk man, i personally find managing the economy the hardest thing to maintain while playing, if you go broke you lose instantly
I may do such tests later on because those ones are a bit more complicated.
4:08 Is it a mummy at the bottom?
yup
The weather machine seems the to be the best.
Its arnie frankenfurter and clint westwood. Umm a chronosphere or a pack of chronolegionnaire will take care of that.
Miner when hit by a lighting storm: Fucking dies
Miner when hit by a LITERAL NUKE: Just fine
I get so nostalgic by seeing this.
You should place the cursor of superweapon at the bottom corner of building, in this case, Lightning storm will deal most damage
Good job ❤️👍🏻💪🏻
Great videos
the last clip is necessary.
Now in RA3, Yuri is gone. And the Japanese took that machine from Yuri, renamed it and redesign it.
