Climb aboard the Fantastic NOT Traveling Music Show! 🌳🚢 Tickets and Season Passes here: switchfoot.com... ----------------------- Switchfoot - "I Won't Let You Go" (Live in NYC)
I heard this song once, and I could not stop. God was calling me in. Later that night, I broke open and God moved in. I was lying there crying, and just feeling the power of Christ. I have never been the same. This song as been an everlasting good influence on my life! God bless yal!
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified [...], for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6
The real judge of how great a band is, is the quality of their live shows. Things can be faked in the studio but live performances reveal all. Switchfoot is one of the few bands that sounds better live than they do on the record. Jon's vocals are way better live. No auto tune here people. Enjoy real God given talent.
Actually disagree in the context of this song. technology nowadays allows sound engineers to treat a live concert almost like a studio in a lot of instances. think about it - a concert hall is designed to make a band sound better, all of the instruments and effects, including vocal microphones, go straight into the main system, and you can easily block out the sounds of the crowd. as soon as you have the recording you can then play with it and modify it however you like. the only thing that is difficult sometimes is to have separate tracks for each instrument, as in a live context you obviously cant record each part separately. not saying I dont like this song, especially live - its great - but I just dont think its as far removed from a studio as you might think.
We just watched them last night here in the Philippines. And boy did they impressed me. Their skills in their instruments match their passion in music. Jon Foreman definitely impressed me the most.
Matt Kehley it's the connection that makes a great band and loving what you do that seperates them from other great bands just look at the song Move great song though
“There ain’t no darkness strong enough that could tear you out from my heart, there ain't no strength that's strong enough that could tear this love apart, never gonna let you go” this part was the answer of what I’ve been praying for. Thanks Switchfoot for saving my life through the years. Thanks God for using them for this.
Everytime I listen to this song, the message always seems fresh. Then I close my eyes, take a deep breathe, and feels that everything is going to be okay
As a Veteran of 15 years of service, 4 deployments, PTSD, anxiety, depression, a GRATEFUL recovering alcoholic, and one who has surrendered everything to our Lord.....the lyrics of this song just completely reduced me to rubble. This song is a gift from God.
Thanks for your service. You are wise to use Switchfoot music in your recovery ; it gives you a place to feel it, wrestle with it and heal it. Keep your eyes on Jesus💫
Dedicated this song to my son 7 years ago, I sent it to him to let him know how much I loved him and how much Christ loves him. He was happy to hear it, not to long after this , month later he went home to the Lord. Fentanyl
You did the the most powerful thing a parent can do for their child; pray and share Switchfoot with them. Keep your eyes on Jesus, He is The Way Home where you and your son will dance in the Glory Forever❤
Been listening to this song on repeat for 20 min and experiencing an amazing internal peace. A song for those that fight through every day or hold on to their own strength to a point that they break. Such a deep message of community and Godly dependence.
When it feels like surgery And it burns like third degree And you wonder what is it worth? When your insides breaking in And you feel that ache again And you wonder What's giving birth? If you could let the pain of the past go Of your soul None of this is in your control If you could only let your guard down You could learn to trust me somehow I swear, that I won't let you go If you could only let go your doubts If you could just believe in me now I swear, that I won't let you go I won’t let you go When your fear is currency And you feel that urgency You want peace but there's war in your head Maybe that's where life is born When our façades are torn Pain gives birth to the promise ahead If you could let the pain of the past go Of your soul None of this is in your control If you could only let your guard down If you could learn to trust me somehow I swear, that I won't let you go If you could only let go your doubts If you could just believe in me now I swear, that I won't let you go I won’t let you go I'll always be by your side Yeah If you could only let your guard down If you could learn to trust me somehow I swear, that I won't let you go If you could only let go your doubts If you could just believe in me now I swear, that I won't let you go (I won’t let you go) I won’t let you go (I won’t let you go) There ain't no darkness strong enough that could tear you out from my heart There ain't no strength that's strong enough that could tear this love apart Never gonna let you go Never gonna let you go No I won’t let you go
This song has become my anthem in my walk with God because of the level I'm at it's about the facades being torn down and pain giving birth to the promises of God upon my life. Love these guys dearly.
Such an amazing song by an amazing band that has helped me crossover to Christian music over 10 years ago! Listening to Christian Music has helped me so much in life and my walk with the Lord! Thank you Switchfoot!
This song and many more from this album need MAJOR air play on the radio. Mainstream charts. Get the message out. Tired of the crap on the airwaves now. Push this to your local radio so they will finally listen
The first time I heard this song live, was on September 10, 2016 at Night of Joy. I heard it coming up and recorded the whole thing. It was absolutely breathtaking and so beautiful. I've seen it live two more times since in November and it's always my favorite part of the show. This song is amazing. I never knew it could get any more beautiful until I heard it live.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Are you kidding me? Such a soothing voice of Chris Martin. No way, it was a mistake! It's Jon ForemanIf there's Coldplay in London, there's Switchfoot in California. Amazing! Love it!
Ditto that! I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, and I totally didn't expect it when I saw them play it live! Plus, when they went right into the chorus of 'The Shadow Proves the Sunshine' when they were in Cincinnati, that was icing on the cake. I really didn't think they could make it any better and then Jon starts singing, "Crooked souls trying to stay straight. Dry eyes in the pouring rain. The shadow proves the sunshine". I was BLOWN AWAY. And then they went into Love Alone Is Worth The Fight.
Nick Poirier Nice! It was my 4th seeing SF, but my first time seeing Relient K and they definitely met expectations. So happy they played Deathbed. Only complaint was that venue got really, really warm inside. Several people passed out I think.
Since the first time that I heard, until now, makes me cry...there is so much meaning in this song.... The Healer of our souls inspired them to make it... There are LOVE , HOPE and FAITH in each verse.... I love the lyric, the voices , the instruments... Forever in my heart.......thank you God, thank you Switchfoot..
Please don't hate such wonderful song I know life hasn't been good to you but please don't give up you would win over it you are almost near the finish line have faith
EASILY a top forty song on the mainstream charts. When I listen to this band, and then compare to most of the secular bands out there, this is one of the best songs I have heard. Beautiful. Only, Magnificent by U2 comes close to the sense of love in this song. God has given talent to this band...no doubt.

Out of the darkness there is light.
God will never let us go . Praise be to Him .
When it feels like surgery

And you wonder what is it worth?

And you feel that ache again
And you wonder
What's giving birth?
If you could let the pain of the past go

I won’t let you go
When your fear is currency
And you feel that urgency

When our façades are torn
Pain gives birth to the promise ahead
If you could let the pain of the past go

I won’t let you go
I'll always be by your side
Yeah
If you could only let your guard down
If you could learn to trust me somehow
I swear, that I won't let you go
If you could only let go your doubts
If you could just believe in me now
I swear, that I won't let you go
(I won’t let you go)
I won’t let you go
(I won’t let you go)
There ain't no darkness strong enough that could tear you out from my heart
There ain't no strength that's strong enough that could tear this love apart
Never gonna let you go
Never gonna let you go
No I won’t let you go

Hard to say, Switchfoot has many songs about God, as they are a faith based religious band
It is about Jesus. You put your trust in Him. He will never let you go. And never leave you stranded.
I think it is 😃
He's stated that this is a song written from God's perspective so you are correct
