First "con" that came to mind when I saw the title of this video: Western online retailers being reluctant to ship to smaller, more isolated countries/territories. But one "pro" that came to mind was a greater sense of community. When your country has less than a million people and speak a language not spoken anywhere else in the world, you kind of feel more like a big family...
Lugansk Republic - while it was around Pros: 1. Great buying power on eastern imports 2. Strong sense of community 3. Easy to get around 4. Mild climate 5. Easy NOT!Russian citizenship with all the perks Cons: 1. Genocidal Nazi army always attacking 2. Few good jobs; basically everyone working poor 3. Nightmare for commerce because of politics 4. Provincial small town mentality 5. Cruddy and inconsistent public services There’s also basically no civil liberties as it’s at war. That was during independence, much less so now it’s chosen to join Russia, but it’s not a place to FA, you won’t like to FO. Banking and credit cards are nigh unusable, especially for westerners, gotta bring all your money with you in cash. Finally revisited recently. Russia has done miracles with it in just the last 5 years. Shame about independence, though. Commerce situation is mostly OK, you just have Russian knockoffs of your home brands, and use AliBaba instead of Amazon. The eastern bloc gets a bad rap undeserved as far as living standard go, IMO. You’ll have dependable power, water, food, paving, climcon, and all that. Won’t br newest and shiniest, but it’s not a shambles.

I’d like my own little asteroid a la the Little Prince. Having my fate bound to the decisions of politicians actually scares me to death.
Costa Rica is looking good.
