Nice job for a throw-together. I've done some before... I agree with what some others said routing/ rounding over the upper edges, handle for the lid, foam on top, carpet or cloth cover- or even just rattle can color... also, pvc could work decent for the drink holders.

Frame wise, very nice. Functional. Just adding some soft material to the outside to be wrapped would take it to the next level. Good job.

Fact. I was actually looking more for finishing tips, but this was a nice, simple structural build. I'd be happy to take my time putting padding and upholstery on a console this nice

Great work!...I have a 93 suburban and am planning on making a custom console..I'm also wanting to install a floor shifter but have it raised and not bolted directly to the floor..dont know if the supplied cable would work with a raised shifter but I will have to research that..also, my original plastic dash is disentergrated from the sun and since I don't like the weird looking gauges, I want to build a flat faced dash from plywood and clad it with some thin aluminum sheet..some aftermarket gauges in the center would give it the look I want..I've already taken the liberty of removing the rear side windows and barn doors and modified a truck tailgate to create a shortbed pickup...I'm going to make a removable slantback cap mainly for a sunscreen because 2 of my dogs like the third row seat..also since I'm going for a tactical look, the slantback will really help to create the illusion..ok, enough about me..I subbed your channel..thanks for the ideas

Excellent idea, except for the no rounding of the corners, I feel someone is going to hurt their elbows with it (thinking of my kids lol!)....but overall is simple and nice and custom made. thanks for the video

Leo 123 well just to let you know I do know how to spell, but maybe I wanted to spell thing different? are you going to correct everyone here that spells differently?? like phone=fone, because=bcuz. get a fucking life. who gives a shyt (shit) about spelling, if it's a word that is readable why correct. excuse me if I'm not like you, hell I don't want to be you im me and not you. You need to learn to let people be who they want to be. have a phucking nice day.

Neat video.Your ambient sound should have been ducked down or your voice-over should've been turned up some. You sounded a little washed out. The center console is a great idea. I think you need to run a router to round all the exterior upper edges, and do some more sanding to to smooth it out. If it were my vehicle, I'd want a handle to lift the door to the big compartment, plus some padded cloth covering in case someone leaned on this unit or bumped into it. Another one of your videos featured your DIY tool tote made of scrap wood and short pieces of leftover PVC pipe. I think I'd want some pieces like that attached to the exterior (and maybe used in the deep box) to add more storage and functionality. I think I'd also want the wood surfaces finished with stain and/or polyurethane and sanded.

Hey nice video I did something similar for my truck, did you just place it into the truck or how exactly did you secure it to the floor? Thats the problem im having because id hate to slam the breaks or get into an accident an have it go flying and I really dont wanna drill into the floor of the truck to secure it?

Just the tip, your speaking very softly and the saw is screaming over your voice. I can't understand what your saying "plywood mumble mumble good project for him."
I'm curious, is that North American White Oak your using? I love the tunes you're jamming btw. Good taste.

    • @butchcoplin2316
