How to build Center Console from scratch

I was loving the entire build but when the flex lamp showed up I grinned like a fool. So dang handy and lovely!
It's inspiring when a maker has such a strong visual style that it comes across no matter the project. Everything Laura makes, even the most functional stuff looks distinctly Laura Kampf, and it makes me want to focus more on putting a personal touch on the thing I make myself.
That is the best compliment ever!!
She has a consistent material palette (brass, steel, recycled wood) and she always goes the extra mile to make things look nice. All of her projects are visually appealing and functional, and it makes for a rewarding end product. I hope one day my projects will end up half as refined lol
I agree. Another maker whose works are instantly recognizable is Uri Tuchman. You should check him out.
I watch so many creator channels on UA-cam: Diresta, April Wilkerson, Ben Uyeda, Modern Builds, Make Something, Izzy Swan, and a hundred others (and I love them all), but Laura's artistry and aesthetic sense-and OMG, the production/editing skills!-are just miles ahead of everyone else. Laura, we appreciate your hard work so much!
You could expand on the phone holder's utility by routing a recess into the back of the top deck, and install a wireless charging pad. Wire it into the 12v and the whole time your phone is in the cradle, it's getting topped up.
I bet that's what the notch out of the bottom is for, to run a charging cable to the port.

Volt meter, phone holder, cup holders, and a storage bin, and not to forget that awesome map light! This is so many useful features packed into one, it really heightens the quality of life I'm sure.
that lid you made with those little pieces of wood is the coolest idea ive seen.. i have a 1969 javelin i have to make a center console for it ....and im going to borrow your Idea ....that was awesomme
I don’t press subscribe very often…but the joy radiating from this project makes it way too easy! I’m an inventor…when I’m not inventing, I’m watching bad news on the phone. This is a healthy substitute!
Btw…I actually need to build a console too. Your joy gets me over the motivation line.

This is great. You could also add a wireless charger on the backside of the wood where your phone is sitting, so you can charge the phone without a cable while driving.

I am mesmerized by the passion that you put into your projects. Most people would go to their local auto parts and accessories store and purchase a cup holder. Yours is next level genius. If I lived anywhere near you, I would want to be your apprentice. Well maybe 20 years ago 😁. Anyway, great job, that console is everything. Side note, I get tickled pink whenever I see your “ let glue dry “ signs.
I enjoy more when you explain what you're doing as you go along. This was an excellent piece of work, such wonderful skill and creativity.
The vintage vibes (Crap, stuff I grew up with is vintage now...) are spot on. And the goose neck lamp is awesome :)
I love solving annoying problems by creating something. No matter how small it is, it changes a daily frustration into something that brings a smile to your face every time you use it. Your daily quality of life just got a little better

My first thought was to copper-plate the stainless steel, but now that I've seen the black, it's a much better match for the rest of the console. Super cool look to the project and highly functional. Thanks for sharing!

You may want to ad some scrap neoprene (or something else that can be washed off easily} to the bottoms of the cup holders to catch drips and minimize rattles.
