At the beginning of the trick you could ask another spectator for a random number. You could ask Siri for a random number. Then you give some powder about what you're going to do then have the book selected and tell the person to flip to the random number I think it's still effective
To compromise on the word choice, you could have them choose the longest word on the 1st line of the page. Something along those lines. The only other small drawback is that you would have to ask for the page number. This may be my go to book test unless I’m in a totally impromptu situation. Love this one!
I'd be interested in actually seeing your performance of this method. Does the fact that you ask for the page number change it from a mind reading trick to a "memorization feat" trick? If it is mind reading, how do you justify needing to know the page number, or how do you work in asking for the number?
Wow!! Amazing!! I can’t believe you taught this to the public. When you said no force then pulled out the timer on your phone I was like all I must of miss heard him. Because I remember you teaching the timer force awhile back!! Thanks again for all you do for the magic community!! This is a game changer.
Nice idea, and technically i guess you can use any book, but it reads like you can do this with ANY BOOK, which isn't the case. It has to be a book that's had prep.
I’ve been finding the cleanest version of think of a word in a book….But, this is one of the closest version…and I think this is too good to teach….But, it has some cons but you have to find some fair excuses to brush it off…well done mate❤
My take on this.. ask the spectator to turn to a random page.. memorize a specific word or the last word on the page... but pls ask the spectator to remember the page number without explaining what exactly is it Ur going to do. Me: so u turned to a random page, did you? Spectator: yes... Me: please do memorize the last word on the page... And please remember the page number too.. (simplified) Spectator: ok... (Looking at the word and page number) Me: I'm gonna guess the page that u were on... (takes out a note, a pencil n a thumbwriter... )
I think what would be better if u have them generate a random number by picking any page number and then have them add the digits using the using the calculator app on ur phone. To get the peak just pretend that u r opening up the calculator app when really you're looking at the peak
Hey man this tutorial came at the right time. In 2 months I'm scheduled to perform magic in front of my school for a talent show. I'm 16 and will perform in front of 500+ people. Any advice for stage magic? Thanks again bro!
So how do you know which page they're on? Do you have to ask them? Wouldn't this make it clumsy if you ask then go straight to your phone? Your tutorial doesn't make this clear. Would you pleas elaborate because if you covered this I didn't catch it.
Tip: If the situation allows, you can hand them the timer too. Just be careful because some people are cautious with COVID. It becomes interactive because they can stop the timer:) Just a thought.
Can you create a video that explains how we can get past the question “why use a book to read my mind or predict a word, when you can simply read my mind” ? (I know about alternatives that use maps, tickets, magazines, and puzzles.) Thank you
Nice! But if this version is the closest one to the real experience for the audience... Please tell me how David Blaine did it to Margot Robbie, without any timers, or anything in his hands at all, and not with a word out of a book... but a word out of a random article she searched on her phone with no specific context!
Not any book though , one specific book , and then they say , " ok , so now pick the first word , or the first work on a line " like a lot of stage magic it will work until youre in a room with your mates and they want to start inspecting things and then it all falls to pieces.
Its not just a stage trick, though! I've since performed this literally in rooms with mates and its worked better if anything. I have every book on my shelves "prepped" and ready to go so they can literally choose any of them and look at the word. So even if they test my memory by changing page number or book, I'm still good. A little improv and jazz magic is all it takes.
Ok so what if the longest word is NOT the last word on the page? What if he word is in the first sentence, then this method fails. I do not see how knowing the last word on every page will make you know the word that the spectator has chosen especially when the word they chose is NOT the last word. This needs some explanations
2:52. I personally never use the word ‘trick’ to the audience. I prefer ‘experiment’ or ‘magic’ depending on the effect. People don’t like the word ‘trick’ and you’re undermining yourself. Regards to everyone, Paul.
I had a similar version years ago with the index actually in the back of the book as I flicked the pages explaining how many were actually in the book, worked very fast, 1 weakness with this routine is similar to what you explain about other versions at the beginning all having a weakness or weird moment...why bring out a phone and turn a timer on...has nothing to do with the effect at al in is a red flag, Put the phone in your case on and open reach in for a pad and pen look at the worhd....reveal
No, that would be terrible. Use your mentalism skills and divine the number but don’t ask. You only need to know what the number is you don’t have to ask for it. If you’re doing a memory demonstration sure but if you’re doing mind reading never ask for information
So it isn't exactly any freely chosen word, as you inferred from the outset. You also have to introduce a mobile phone - to use as a crib. Good grief! Study Chan Canasta - and learn the very best unprepared, BORROWED Book Tests to have ever been performed within the field of Mentalism. Some 65+ years since Chan performed the impossible - and 'Mentalists'(?) are still piss balling around with inferior methods.
But I saw this trick performed by this guy called max and he didn't use anything like this and didn't seem like a trick , it's as if he could actually read minds

Ha, you can perform this back-to-back with the stopwatch force trick for a nice follow-on!

Asking would be weird. Instead utilize your mentalism skills and divine the number without them ever telling you.
winner of previous giveaway???
Bunch of winners ready to be announced in the next video I film!
Do I have to ask the page no. To spectator?
🤣
No, you need to know the page number but you don’t have to ask for it. Use any method to divine the page number they are thinking of
LOL, I was waiting for the explanation to be "simply read the person's mind, for real, simple as that!"
Tip: If the situation allows, you can hand them the timer too. Just be careful because some people are cautious with COVID. It becomes interactive because they can stop the timer:) Just a thought.
How can you associate a page number with a single word? They could've choose any of the word right?
Please post more mind reading trick tutorials

How did Derren Brown do the same trick with word influencial with no phones or notes?? Thank you in advance
Dude I get so excited when you upload haha!!
What's the justification for asking the page?
Don’t ask for it. If you’re a mentalist you have many ways of diving a page number someone is thinking of.

What if you're not a mentalist? Just mental at best

Frame it as a memory stunt!

Mentalism. Just divine the number using any of the classic skills. Millard’s work would do it fine if you had no other method
