it really does. at the time of filming this cab ride i had no clue to what the tower was. it was only when i was pointed it out by someone i had shown the video to i realised. quite something to have it on film. i plan to in the future film hopfully if i can get a cab ride the Circle line. when i do that if i can and get to do the full line and also film ill be able to have new footage taken with the tower no longer in view. will be diffrent and sad for sure but i guess with London everything always changes!.
That is bloody amazing to watch. Driver seemed like a real nice bloke who appreciated a bit of company in the cab sharing his local knowledge along the way!
Calvin Witt he was a super nice guy he even came back from his depot with a gift for me a hot drinks holder that said on it about making announcements if your held up for I think it’s more than 90 seconds so they know someone is on the front and it’s not just an automated voice. He also tried to let us keep the high vis jackets we had but was not allowed to do so. Super nice guy he was willing to let me spend the day with him. If I did not have other things going on that day I’d of taken up the offer
I've visited the UK five times and rode the Tube as often as possible. It's so much more efficient than what we do in the US and our obsession with automobiles. Great video!
Bob Rogers Totally agree with you. Recently visited London and was astounded at that city's highly efficient and reliable public transportation network. Blows America's comparable systems out of the water!
Good public transport such as this is befitting of a capital-though other capitals, such as that I grew up in (if it counts; it’s a city-state) are better at it.
This is my favourite cabride vid because it features London, my old stomping ground, and because of the conversation between BillyMillest and the driver.
I want to leave here my most effusive thanks 👏👏👏 for this incredible trip!!! I'm a big fan of cabin perspective because of the wide possibility of seeing the road, stations and landscapes. Congratulations 👍 especially for editing with station names. this is essential for supporters from other regions or countries!!! 🙏 thank you and you gained a new subscriber... and likes!!! 👍😊👍
I worked as a guard and motorman (driver) on the Piccadilly and District lines in the 70s and 80s and finally as a train operator (driver only) on this line. Sad to hear in the cab conversation a new driver rang his former instructor for advice to get the train moving. Amazing after training and still doesn't know what to do! Only 25 percent passed a rigorous oral exam in the old days! Things change, I suppose.
For some reason unknown to me this new S Stock driver’s eye view video makes the S Stock train appear as though it’s travelling at a higher speed than the C Stock driver’s eye view video of 1989. I am fortunate to own the original District and H&C lines driver’s eye view DVD which shows unpainted Aluminium C and D Stock trains in their original condition; as well as the original Central Line driver’s eye view which was filmed on board a 1962 TS train also in DVD.
The pictures don't do it any justice really. It's quite chilling. Was standing there looking at it with one of the site supervisors at one point talking about the horror of it all. If you look in the four foot (between the running rails) between Wood Lane and Latimer RD, they are the rails we put in. The job isn't bad, but gonna go back into signals as that's far better.
Noddy Mac yes must of been quite something to see and look at it all. Scary sounds fun to chop and change with the jobs. You must get to do some fun things working for them for sure
. Great video very impressed with it. I am wanting to do a driver’s eye view documentary of the Hammersmith & City line doing a narration on the history and present facts of the railway. As your videos already show most of the route between the two destination I wanted to ask if it was possible to use your videos to make the drivers eye view documentary? The video will also include shots by the side of the railway, on the train and at stations. Your name will be featured within the credits if you allow me to use your videos and also put a link in to your channel. It is of course your choice but it would be a great opportunity. I am an amateur film maker who does this as my hobby and would use this video for personal use. Let me know 👍🏻
Wong Jonathan I was amazed at this compared to the old stock on the line C stock it was so much smoother and so much faster and nicer for that though I do miss and love the old trains
Great video. Yeh St Marys was abandoned when Aldgate East was moved to the east of its former location. It used to be situated where the Hammersmith and District lines run in parallel before combining. These changes happened in 1938 because the triangle formed with the Metropolitan and circle lines meant the trains couldnt sit in the triangle without blocking other lines - thus causing operational delays. Oh btw other note on the description. Barking is not in Essex. Its in Greater London.
The S stock are used on all the subsurface lines replacing older Underground trains , Crossrail is a full size Network Rail which uses another type of train entirely..... cheers
Toby Meehan yeah, it's not, and the official name is a little bit misleading, but the sky is not falling. The "cased" line on the map (like the overground, DLR, trams) will help people figure out that it's different.
David Sheriff This isn’t the District Line. The Hammersmith and City Line does run on the same track as the District Line from Aldgate East onwards though.
Well you must be only one I and I so it seems others quite enjoyed it especially hearing the driver tell his storys and little secrets that people may not know
It is, any train that picks up passengers on the tube network (apart from London Overground and the Track Maintenance train) is classed as a Tube train.
It's very sad to see grenfell tower before the tragedy makes you feel for the poor victims
it really does. at the time of filming this cab ride i had no clue to what the tower was. it was only when i was pointed it out by someone i had shown the video to i realised. quite something to have it on film. i plan to in the future film hopfully if i can get a cab ride the Circle line. when i do that if i can and get to do the full line and also film ill be able to have new footage taken with the tower no longer in view. will be diffrent and sad for sure but i guess with London everything always changes!.

The driver seems like a top fellow, was a pleasure listening to him reminisce!
And I bet he earned more money with better perks than any of his kids with all their university degrees.
6:00 That's Grenfell Tower in the video on the right. :(
As with other comments, was spooky seeing Grenfell Tower appear.
I've visited the UK five times and rode the Tube as often as possible. It's so much more efficient than what we do in the US and our obsession with automobiles. Great video!

East Ham looks so weird when you have a view of when you're on the tracks, I've only rememberd East Ham because I always go to that station
always see that bc i live there
I must say this is an amazing video. The conversation with the driver is amazingly insightful and very nice to listen to. Good job!

I was on the circle line with my dad and we past grenfell tower before the train stops at wood lane
i just love the accents. :) A+ quality video. Great video of the trains/line.
I was working at Latimer RD a few weeks ago doing a rerail on the Westbound, seeing Grenfell Tower in person really was a shocker.
Noddy Mac oh wow what's it like now after the fire. Sounds like an interesting job as well

Not so much on the P/WAY, but with signals you do as it gets your brain going when things go wrong and shit hits the fan. My favourite is points.
It's so sad to see the Grenfell tower on the right!

S stock isn’t old, the 1972/3 stock currently on the Bakerloo line is the oldest.
The train picks up speed real quick.
Wong Jonathan I was amazed at this compared to the old stock on the line C stock it was so much smoother and so much faster and nicer for that though I do miss and love the old trains
Wong Jonathan Will be even faster once they install ATO on them
The S Stock has better traction motor and sounds good
How did you find a place to put the camera without falling off? When I went on my cab ride I had to hold it by hand
Great video.

Apparently they're going to change the station's name to Grenfell tower
they better. many peoples lives were lost and probably a few hundred people were injured.
Yasin I. They are not I don’t think
I’m barking mad love the place
Subscribed! Thanks for including the STATION NAMES. I would love to know the junctions as well (Where to they go?
Happy new-year

I came here after watching a New York subway video, this is far superior
Can someone tell me something about the dead tracks at the exit of Farringdon? They are used in the past or it's for future plans?
I think it was a extension plan but then they left it
@@aaflame damn, I didn't remember this question hahaha, thanks a lot for that!
Awesome
Sitting in the cab not knowing that the tower you passed burnt dowm.
S stock is not the oldest the 1972 stock has been running for 50 years and still running strong
around 38:40 there is a lit room(?) on the right. hiding place for trolls? :)
Ibigoo the old disused station St. Mary's
Ibigoo the old disused station St. Mary's
thank you. i knew there is a lot of abandoned station on the network, it was good to see one of them "In live".
I thought the S stock were the newest,or are you being ironic, very good video....
simon price yes they are currently used on the Underground but officially it’s the new Crossrail Elizabeth Line trains
The S stock are used on all the subsurface lines replacing older Underground trains , Crossrail is a full size Network Rail which uses another type of train entirely..... cheers
Class 345 built by Bombardier
Toby Meehan yeah, it's not, and the official name is a little bit misleading, but the sky is not falling. The "cased" line on the map (like the overground, DLR, trams) will help people figure out that it's different.
It shouldn't be called 'Elizabeth Line' it's not part of the underground. Like the overground it should've remained crossrail
good is viedo
How did you get the cab ride
Grenfell tower!😥
I know
It's been 2 years
jjtwhite :(
When was this recorded?
4:39 - 6:39: Grenfell tower is still unburnt...
this was obviously recorded before the tragedy happened
Hello how do your camera hold or how do you put it in the cab window without if falling or do you just hold the camera to film the cab ride
Dec's Trains I had a suction pad for my camera and put it up on the glass and that’s how it worked

All those cables along the walls - must be the signaling circuits.

I think this is District Line not as you state
David Sheriff This isn’t the District Line.
The Hammersmith and City Line does run on the same track as the District Line from Aldgate East onwards though.
Plus the district line doesnt go to farringdon or liverpool street
Wrong. This is the H&C, formerly the Metropolitan Line. It shares tracks with the District Line from Aldgate East to Barking.

Great video spoiled by the personal conversation which sadly detracts from the visuals
Sorry to be a pedant, but it's not a tube train...
AndreiTupolev Uh it is?

The tube trains go above ground btw lol
