- Devastated to bring you the bad news, but I wanted you to know I am a fighter and I will fight this all the way.
Disclaimer: If my voice sounds at all peculiar it is because I have ALS and speech can be an issue. I try my best but it is getting more evident.

websites at least once every week but my health has been bad but i have been very quite about it and i have been under 24/7 care for 2.5 years stuck in Chicago right now and i cant stand up or walk and i am in so much pain Rick lets pray for all our fellow musicians and there familys i just had my 62 birthday i'am class of

I cried , up until the moment you said : I'm going to fight this with all my might. Even tho we dont know eachother i consider you a dear friend, just by watching your videos i can tel you are a good man. Us dad's have to stick together, me and my family have prayed for you ever since you've been having trouble with your speech, my heart sanc when i saw a british boutique video and you said: my right hand isn't what it used to be. All i can say is v even tho your speech might not work at a sertain point. Your kids must know who you are, as a person as the wonderful human being that you are, and please keep up the guitar playing , becuz even if we cant hear your voice , well stil be able to hear your feelings thru your playing. My and my families prayes go out to you and your family, the only thing i dont like about this video , is giving it a like. Sencearly your friend from accros the pond ricardo.
Such great words Rico. Mike is a good man (one of the best), and I'm lucky to have been friends with him for well over thirty years. He's got a great support network around him, and we're all going to do whatever we can to help him and his beautiful family through this.

I’m so sorry to hear this, but I have a lot of hope for you. The wife of a friend of mine has had ALS for 13+ years. While it has forced them to make some very difficult lifestyle changes, they have managed its progression very well and they still enjoy a relatively active and positive, enjoyable life. I have no doubt you’ll have the same success and still have many, many fine years ahead.
I felt like I was hit with a brick when I saw the notification for this video! I'm glad you have someone in your corner that knows first-hand what you are facing. Prayers and best wishes out for you and your family.

hang in there buddy and fight to the bitter end! 10 years ago I was diagnosed with focal dystonia (both hands) and it has ruined my music playing until this past december, I finally figured a way to work around it, I KNEW something was happening with my hands 34 years ago when I practiced banjo 12-18 hours per day and was slowly becoming unable to play at all. stay tuned because when I get better at playing I'll be posting a video about my 34 year battle and how I'm overcoming it even with RA diagnosed 3 years ago. and I'm sure you can beat it too! all the very best my brother!
