for me as malaysians, mall's nasi lemak is not the best... I recommend outdoor restaurants like Nasi Lemak Wanjo Kampung Baru especially for westerners... or Village Park Restaurant, Nasi Lemak Tanglin... and one more thing, can you tell the difference between Malay and Malaysian?
Nasi Lemak is not only served for breakfast but for all day & night. It was originated wrapped in paper & banana leaf in small portion for breakfast but when it comes to lunch or dinner, I enjoyed it with some other dishes like chicken rendang etc. You may find Restaurant Wanjo in Kg. Baru nearest to KLCC area..it's where tourist go for first time trying nasi lemak. Welcome to Malaysia. Have fun stay in KL. 👌💕
Malaysian breakfast are usually very heavy because traditionally in the old days after breakfast most people at that time have to do back breaking hard labor they were farmers , miners builders all sort of physically intensive work under the hot sun. The traditional food is always heavily spiced not like boiled potatoes in Europe because in this region is where most spices come from.
Just like any food, you need to go to the good ones to really judge whether the dish is tasty or not. Try going to Village Park Nasi Lemak for the authentic Nasi Lemak Ayam Rempah dish. Highly recommended!
its ok liza, your taste bud & blood are made from puff & pastries while malaysian are made by spices & variety of it..just enjoy the meal.. in-term of maybe sambal from indian coz due to our history way back (500 years back) then in have traded with china, india trader come by thus maybe the mixture/influence by it.. but i got to says, the best way eating malaysian food are outside the mall, try looking at the side stall, shop, anywhere but the mall food.. but for intro, mall food is where to just get a glimpse of it..
my personal favourite go to Low Yat plaza there is a cafe on the 4th floor called " abang adik kopitiam" for me the nasi lemak there is one of the best for my personal taste, this is my top 3 nasi lemak places get the fried chicken variant its really good.
Do not eat nasi lemak in malls. The famous nasi lemak is in wanjo at kampung baru. Sarawak laksa and asam laksa and curry laksa and nyonya laksa are awesome
That’s not traditional nasi lemak..🤦🏻♂️ Traditional taste only you can get at street stall only..using banana leaf & the chicken is not like that..thats chicken chop not the chicken for nasi lemak..hope you will get the real taste of Malaysia traditional nasi lemak..I’ll not eat nasi lemak in any malls because I know the taste is not delicious as street vendor..

You want the real nasi lemak you must go to wanjo in kampung baru (KL)
If you cannot take Nasi Lemak with sambal, I would like to recommend for you to have Nasi Lemak with rendang instead.

Durian smells and tastes good. The dishes are not inspired by India. The currency of Malaysia is Malaysian Ringgit, not randemo

You chose a poor place to eat. Most Malaysians do not eat in places as you do, you got cheated.
