  • This seems to be a hot topic and question I get asked a lot, so I decide to do a video on how to move your right elbow in golf swing.
    ⛽️🔥 Milo’s Favorite Drill to COMPRESS the Golf Ball: milolinesgolf.com/compress
    Perhaps you have wondered why you can't seem to get your trail elbow in front of your seam line and why you always feel stuck? In this video, Henry and I talk about the right arm in the golf swing and how many of you are pulling and pushing too much versus keeping more of a constant radius. We hope you enjoy this video!

    I'm Just getting back into the game after more than 10 yrs. I got to say, Milo you one of the best instructors out there. You have helped me so much. I'm just trying to create a really good swing. I watch and listen to you, then go to the range. You've totally opened my eyes to what encompasses a decent swing. By the time summer comes along golf is going to be even more enjoyable than the last time I played. Thank you so much. All the best to you.

    Just 2 online lessons from Milo, along with incorporating his body rotation drills into my warm-ups - straight arms, hockey stick, split hand,and parallel lines - led me from 12 handicap to 7 and descending, with first 11 GIRs in last round and 22 hole stretch score of + 3 despite 3 3-putts. He's so quick at spotting not only swing flaws, but also when swing elements don't match up. For wexample, I used neutral grip for 15 years and decided to try stronger grip, but I was still doing the bowed lead wrist the neutral grip requires on the downswing. He said cup the wrist instead and hinge toward thumb, and contact was instantly solid and easy. He also spotted I was swinging the club toward the target instead of toward the ball - which explains why my clubhead wasn't exiting left like good players. Once I committed to that proper swing plane, my pulls and pushes 90% vanished. I'm working hard on all this, but the truth is his key changes worked from the very first swing and I knew, going forward, I'd be a substantially less mediocre golfer!

    I've been showing this to people for yrs on the range because it's exactly what happens when you hit a tennis topspin looping forehand - as the right elbow comes in to generate that powerful whipping action, the right wrist & hand must rotate to face backward to keep the clubface square - and the faster/harder you want to hit it (more elbow), the more backward your hand has to turn. It's the one gift tennis gave me - I had to learn this as a kid to compete in tournaments

    I'm swinging the club pretty good right now, about a nine handicap, and what Milo says at 3:40 is the golden insight of a one plane swing if you can get this right then you're gonna play some great golf cheers to Milo He's one of the best instructors out there.

    There are plenty videos on the right elbow movement that are good. But the key is your teaching on the wrist which makes tucking the elbow correctly/naturally. I must say without the wrist move following others' instruction is like someone directing: go down the road & turn left when you see a small tree. Thank you for this most valuable teaching.

    I would like to know the feel in the upper body/scapula when taking the club back and then swinging through.
    Also, the hands/wrists turning the door knob is done passively in the downswing? Is that correct? Or are you doing it?

    Hey guys - thanks for the video "" video just came up in my feed. Is the feel totally different to reality. The door knob feel I guess is subtle and not too drastic. This is done on the downswing keeping the wrist extension?

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Рік тому +1

      The wrist extension typically increases a bit during transition, but we prefer have the move happen because of the pivot, pressure shift, and moving into right side bend. For many though, feeling the doorknob in the hands and wrists at first can be most helpful.

    I feel that the arms downswing is driven by the hips and the spine in kinetic sequence, arms following. I spent too long trying to rely on spine and shoulders.

  • @Cb9609

    I am not sure this is an appropriate post but several years ago in a lesson Milo put a rod outside and to the right of the ball path and told me to try to get as close to it as I could on backswing and miss it on downswing. It took quite a few swings but I started stripping it and still am. My go to feel is I am swinging an axe over my right shoulder and on the downswing I just swing it back to the ball. Everything in this video just happens without my thinking about it. I am 72 with shoulder and ankle limitations and a 7 handicap; a 16 before the lesson. Don’t think you have to have perfect mobility to have a good, strong swing. Milo is an awesome instructor so take a lesson from him if you get a chance.

  • @scottharmon5583
    @scottharmon5583 Рік тому

    Henry, that doorknob thing doesn’t work without the spine tilt move Milo showed. You demo it like it’s an arms/hands thing, but it’s a result of the thoracic spine side bend.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Рік тому

      We like to have it happen as a result of the body movement and pivot, but for some they need to manually do it at first and isolate. Here is the full video on this: ua-cam.com/video/XjV_r3ZQM48/v-deo.html

  • @johnrodgers6049

    The trail arm should not move behind the seam. If it does, the lead arm moves too much across the body. The lead arm really moves very little from left to right in the backswing and through impact. It is stabilized in this motion by the trail arm not getting too crazy.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  10 місяців тому

      Many different arm structures throughout the best players in the game, but typically yes, I don't like to see the trail arm getting too far behind the seam line.
