Some idiot: Dwarves are boring because they're the same in every fantasy setting, no one ever does anything unique with them. Me, a chad: That's why I like them; they're reliable, like stone.
I love how you go into the view of Dwarves on wealth. An object isn't just a thing. The chair example you gave is great. It's not just a chair. It's the art that went into making that style of a chair. It was the choice of materials used to add to it's durability, beauty, and function. It's the skill of the craftsdwarf that was infused in creating that chair. It was the time that craftsdwarf spent on creating that chair. It's that the chair is a chair for the table around which the family finds comfort during their joint meal. All of those things are part of the wealth that chair represents. I think Dragons may think that way about things in their hordes, but magnified and sometimes twisted in a selfish way.
I think we all can agree after the Elf and Giants series he covered we've all been looking forward to this Dwarf series. Especially since there's so much to cover and to explore that we know he'll make entertaining.

My current character is a coppedragon in disguise and it's itching to tell the rest of the group, but they simply haven't caught on to him yet. Which of course is a great prank by itself.
It's awesome that you get into your characters like that. There are so many ways to play. Made a pair of twin repositioning monks (loosely based off of 2 Shaolin monks from Jet Li's Fearless) that spammed the reposition mechanic. Every time one monk repositioned an enemy the other got an AoO. And if one monk got an AoO, the other automatically got one as well (Greater Reposition). Add the fact that either one could reposition multiple times in a round, due to high Dex and reposition as part of their AoO, it quickly became broken. Spent a month pouring over rules and books trying to get the right feats for them to advance properly. Level 12 and one of them died and the other (side quest) traveled to the other side to bring him back. Apparently, (DMs idea) they shared one soul and they could inteplanar detect each other. Dope campaign.
I'd love to see a story that's set in a golden age of dwarven society rather than a dark age, where the world is seeing a renaissance in stone-masonry and metal working as a result and the major quest hubs are cities which spring up just outside of dwarven mountain strongholds like Dale around Erebor.
It's not LOTR or DND, but if you like or at least find warhammered dwarfs acceptable you might be interested in the quest RHUNKIKI STROLLAR. That is set during a dwarven golden age.
The dwarven mentality of focusing on a single field of expertise and focusing all their efforts and energy on mastering it to the exclusion of almost everything else is curiously similar to Aeldari society in Warhammer 40,000. Even more curious because the Aeldari are the equivalent of the Elven in said setting. Their attitude towards gold is the complete opposite of the Warhammer dwarves who suffer from literal gold rush. It is curious how it is possible to start from the same concept and achieve such different results, while at the same time they remain recognizable as variations of said concept. Very interesting video, as always.

My question with dwarves is what would happen if they met stone giants? Fire giants would enslave them more than likely, but stone giants not only live underground, but are also about permanence and art, which are things dwarves can value as well.
Has it ever been mentioned in D&D lore how dwarven holds craft their booze? Most forms of alcohol come from fermented fruits or grains, neither of which would grow well underground. Do they have specially cultivated moss? Fungi? For that matter, how do they get most of their foodstuffs in general? Based on the dwarven mindset towards trade I can't well imagine they just routinely barter for bulk food and drink, but I'm having a hard time imagining what alternatives they would have...
Opening a video with a shot of Races of Stone REALLY reassures me Easily the best source for a primer on what dwarves are like Even if none of the gods and specific stuff mentioned ever get used ever again and some of the lore is weirdly in conflict with other stuff

Amazing video! Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase series does a great job of showing Dwarves and how they treat their objects. Dwarven items had a name followed by the craftsmen and lineage.
when playing D&D dwarfs are not my 1st choice (for a long run) but I feel like I'm so much like a dwarf. Specially on the craftsmen mentality, if you spend time on a project you want to make the best you can, not just half-arss it. Money is oke-ish, but I feel trade has more value over a metal or gem I could actually use for a craftsmen project. I care for those I consider friends, but I'm harsh and stoic with new people I meet, but even then, if I can offer advice or share knowledge I do. (people often say I sound like a grandpa or an old wise uncle. I often had situations where even with those I end up arguing/fighting, they will come back months/years later and let me know I was right with my thoughts or advice. (relation is still not good, but I'm glad that they listened) The other similarity, is that I can spend hours or days in my workshop (sculpture (wood/stone) or painting miniatures, drawing art, crafting maps and buildings for table-top games, crafting an entire adventure for D&D, etc.)

Mam, thank you for this mine of dwarven knowledge. It's a great reminder, and some new information for me. It's useful as I am currently playing a zelaout barbarian of Moradin. A rebel punk Duergar (a "Duunk", who is often drunk) on a quest to reunite his clan once again with their cousins. Or die trying yet another time.
I am wanting to make a zealot barbarian "slayer" dwarf sometime in the future. Getting these lore videos in will give me tons of content to put into the character.
I feel as if the Forgotten Realms Dwarves are my least favorite version of Dwarves. But certain aspects of them are very interesting. So the Dwarves in my games will be a hodgepodge of many different versions
IIRC there was a 3.X splatbook called something like The Stronghold Builder's Guide that describes a metal even stronger than adamantine: obdurium. It has a hardness of 30 (compared to adamantine's 20) but otherwise mechanically identical to adamantine. It seems weird to me that I've only seen it mentioned in that book. The metal should be so rare that getting ahold of enough to make a sword is a tall order, so forget about getting enough to make a door.

Trying to think of a good backstory for a Dwarven fighter who was exiled from their clan. Like they broke a sacred custom or taboo and turned themselves in for their ‘crime’. Like maybe they showed mercy or defied an elder or broke a sacred statue in order to save others from a lava flow. I wanna make Dwarven Zuko basically
Might be a weird take on an episode but you think you could do an episode on the planet itself? Find the lore on how the magical ores came into being, what are the rares things that exist within the planet in terms of ores and gems and other interesting hidden cities or ruins, ancient buried relics or other things that people don't realize is in the lore
In this and other videos he covers several D&D campaign settings, i.e. different 'planets'. (The Forgotten Realms is (part of) a planet, canonically.) But a D&D planets video would be cool!
One thing you missed is that while most dwarfs are infertile when they do have kids they tend to be twins as it's a blessing from their god to help deal with their low numbers and infertility. So they don't need to rely on other races 100% to not die out.
Dwarven funerals sound like how my family does funerals. Especially when y said they can party for 3 days cuz since stayed over at my mom's cousin's place for 3 days after her dad died. I remember waking up n her daughter (around my age) offering to make breakfast but I was too hung over. After 1 cigarette I felt it coming n stumbled my way back inside to the toilet to vomit; instantly felt better n walked outside to flip in the pool n was like "ok, Ash, I'll take that bacon now, please"
Heavy stone blocks can be full of gold because the stone looks more beautiful to that dwarf and uses the gold to add weight to the stoneblock. And the stoneblock if you put together like a puzzle using clever carving techniques
These blocks can also be used to check for lava flow has the golden side will begin to boil popping open the stone casing. Gold can squirt out the mouth of the Stone Face onto a steel drum. Liquid heavy metal sounding the alarm of the blocked off lava tube.
What is up! Glad to see some new lore videos. Do you think you might be able to do something on what they don't tell us about artificers? I feel like there is a lit more than what is on the surface from the islands of artificers and even on sigil where it would be an artificer's dream with all of the strange contraptions and mechanical things
In my campaign world the Dwarves believe themselves and the mountains were song into creation by Aulë, who then song forth Moradin to work the Dwarves like ore to metal.
04:30 What is the dwarf does not want just another "fair" madien or damsel in distress? But a lady with some "meat on their bones" to quote a infamous movie and (more importantly) someone to go on adventures with them? Or at least a spouse to compliment their preferred skill set? IE: An adventurer marries another adventurer. A Runesmith or more mundane Smith marries a Miner, etc...
Two videos in one week, is it Christmas or something?! And they are about the lore of a particular race?! I must have died, and now I am in heaven... I love these videos!
I'm loving all these "What they don't tell you" vids. When are you going to do one about Hobgoblins? I'm playing one now and I'm sick of always explaining to the rest of the party that I'm *supposed* to be intelligent and disciplined.

One thing you missed is that while most dwarfs are infertile when they do have kids they tend to be twins as it's a blessing from their god to help deal with their low numbers and infertility. So they don't need to rely on other races 100% to not die out.
Doesn't seem like enough to me. Especially with the 70:30 male to female ratio.
@@kauswekazilimani3736 Still it's something and it's not like the dwarves can't try to use divine magic to fix things
Sounds like my family's funerals. You have the wake but you celebrate the life and don't mourn the loss.
I paused the video and read the kink table and it said 'you constantly propose plans that will get you tied up)
What is up! Glad to see some new lore videos. Do you think you might be able to do something on what they don't tell us about artificers? I feel like there is a lit more than what is on the surface from the islands of artificers and even on sigil where it would be an artificer's dream with all of the strange contraptions and mechanical things
Definitely one of my favorite UA-cam channel. 😍
Do not tell me that with those circumstances, none of those dwarves are gaeeeey. It would be statistically impossible. Come on. 🐻🌈✨🐾
Lol, I didn't watch this video for 4 days since I thought I had already watched it. Turns out that this was actually a new video.
Love these videos. I want to play my Dwarves again so bad!
BACK TO BACK VIDEOS?? You spoil me 😮💨
Yessss. I tried to listen another UA-cam guy but it was not the same
I'm literally thinking about getting a tattoo that says Grim mystery laced with sadness and pride.
I'm going to start a Dwarf Playlist. Mr. Rhexx's videos and Shadiversity's videos.
Thanks man showed up right when I needed this
In my campaign world the Dwarves believe themselves and the mountains were song into creation by Aulë, who then song forth Moradin to work the Dwarves like ore to metal.
My question remains. Was I born as a dwarf, or did the dwarves make me one of them?
Finally. A video of my favourite race.
17:00 Darvish equivalent of castle-doctrine?
Two videos in one week, is it Christmas or something?! And they are about the lore of a particular race?! I must have died, and now I am in heaven... I love these videos!
Best d&d UA-camr out there!
Love that you create characters, ....cool beans. Great video.
I'm loving all these "What they don't tell you" vids. When are you going to do one about Hobgoblins? I'm playing one now and I'm sick of always explaining to the rest of the party that I'm *supposed* to be intelligent and disciplined.
13:30 in third edition steel and iron has 10 hardness mithrall has 15 but they do have the same hp per inch of thickness
My personality surprisingly closely mirrors that of a dwarf.
Great job, with the updated savage species! Great show!
What about the planes series?
I love each and every video of yours - so I kinda now miss the other videos about limbo, mechanus, hades, and so on
Mr Rhexx you do us Dwarves justice. I happen to be a Dwarf of great stature and being 6' 2" of hot sexy Dwarf is honored by your spreading of the Dwarven love...ummm...lore!
Great video series. I appreciate your work. Thank you.
These have been great! Looking forward to the rest!
Question,
Who are the arch-enemies of the dwarves, which races would the dwarves never cooperate with and rather kill everyone?
More specifically, how do the dwarves feel about the
dragon
orcs
goblins
Tieflings
Giants
Elfes
are there others races they maybe hate ???
Mithril = Titanium. Silver-blue? Check. Resilient to damage? Check. Lightweight? Check.
that makes adamantium a steel-titanium alloy if I heard correctly?
Always nice to listen
What race will you cover in depth after this? The Dragonborn would be nice. Even humans would work too
14:40 love that dwarfs basically invented mass produced adimantite
MrRhexx do a video on Baldur's Gate and or Neverwinter Nights.
Ive been waiting thank you for this
