Moin, Julia! I definitely need more space. I carry an A5 and I’m not very artsy, more memory keeping cause we visit tons of places. I wished I’d add more photos but often forget to leave room.. haha. I recently finally bound my stack of A5 travel journals bookbinding style, made three covers for 4-5 journals together and love how that turned out. I usually do a collage on the covers and use A5 either German “Schulhefte” or other mostly European notebooks like clairefontaine or Oxford. Looks like a great trip perfectly documented!
Wow!! Bounding the A5 travel journals for one large memory keeping keepsake sounds beautiful 😍- thanks so much for sharing that. Love Clairefontaine (need to look into Oxford!)!
Copenhagen/Denmark is one of my favorite places in the world and I want to go back. Had a little giggle at 🧜♀️ expectations vs reality it was crowded 20 years ago. My next dream trip would be Copenhagen to Croatia with stops in Berlin, Prague and Vienna. As for travel journals - I do better if I bring with me. I bring a TN of some sort and have a few pre done pages and make lots of notes in pencil of what I want to include in the finished product. I love the way you did the recaps and reflections at the end. I always try and guess how many pages I’ll need for something before starting the next group and end up not getting something right. I just had to get over that everything might not be exactly sequential and that it’s about all the memories not how beautiful the pages are.
Wow, your next dream trip sounds amazingggg!! We were supposed to hit Vienna and Prague a few winters ago but covid restrictions got put back up in place last minute so we had to skip it (but got to spend more time in Poland which I loved). I’ve heard such good things about Croatia! And absolutely on the travel journal itself; the sequentialness of it all doesn’t both me much (especially near the end of the insert) and I don’t even think about it when flipping back through. Thanks for sharing your methods!! I should pre-setup more pages!
Than last time I traveled was to the california pen show back in 2023 and it was a nightmare getting there and its not that far from my house but if I had planned better I would have taken the disneyland express from disneyland to the airport and back but I wasnt thinking about it and tried to take public transet to get ther and it was not fun so I did not journal about it I just took a lot of pictures while I was on my way I took some video while I was there and I took some as I came home but I mostly take bus and they are not great for journaling on I'm terrified of dropping a pen nib down or dropping it and it rolling in a place that I cant get to so when I'm on bus I dont journal I mostly take picture and journal about things when I get back home safe and sound :)
Oh geeeezzzz what a nightmare! (hopefully the show itself was kinder to you 😬🥹)- yeah, in that situation, absolutely no journaling until there’s peace and quiet to do so 🥲
Looks like y’all had a good time. Thanks for sharing.
