This car was built specifically for racing a standing mile, look for it later this year at the Texas Mile. Kelly will be shooting for the Corvette record.
This was from the big horsepower dyno event hosted by Houston Performance Driving, held at KP Racing.

Just The Nuts Hanging Out I have been in a few 1000+ hp cars and DD a car that makes 668 at the wheels. Over time you get used to the speed and it doesn't give you the rush that it used to. That, and a lot of these guys are going after speed records.

James Lovett This doesnt have more power. The last mile race consisted of 2100 and 2000 hp GTR and Huracain. It will have its hands full for sure to beat those guys.

that's exactly why the vette needs a mid engine car and why the ford gt is so fast with the weight over the rear wheels it wont spin nearly as bad.
....and just to think as long ago as 1988 a Callaway Corvette did 254.76mph a world record and not beaten until 1999. It had all the creature comforts, radio, air conditioning etc. as well.

It's a beast but it lags big time with the turbos mounted at the back of the car. I think it started to make boost above 6000 rpm.
How long does a 2000hp engine last?
The block can handle the power . the rotating assembly should be changed every 50 pass I guess . but he probably got a trailer full of parts

Also it keeps a lot of the heat buildup out of the engine bay which is nice. Lag suffers a bit but in a car like this lag doesnt really matter at alllll

This car would need 200 roll to keep up with ugr lambos lol. Jokes aside this is an amazing engineering achivement, I have no doubt it would shatter the previous tx mile record held by ford gt only if he can find enough traction and doesnt miss shift ;)

that's a lot of turbo for a 427, he must be turning well over 8,000 rpm.
Probably about 8000 yeah, plus he's pushing 55 psi so that takes a fair amount of turbo

@@stitch684 obviously it works . regardless even if the turbos were mounted in the front it would still spool that high twin 88s with a small cube motor is going to lag
Also another reason I'll tell you it won't happen is because those other cars are either all wheel drive or have the engine over the rear tires which helps reduce wheel spin the Corvette will never be the one mile champion until it becomes mid-engine.

if thats 2000hp how come it did not spinning the tires on the dyno strap down so weak like that, looks like 800hp to me with them rpms going so slow...

Lol I have a hot of respect for builds like this... But the GT-R would eat this car up. Power means nothing if you can't put it down fast enough. A manual trans loses boost on shifts. The GT-R has a dual clutch transmission. There is practically no time spent shifting from gears, so no boost is lost. Not to mention that it's AWD. And don't get me started on the AMAZING launch control system in it.
Joey B. Ehh depends on his skill at shifting. He could no lift shift which is about as fast as you can get... Also Corvette's always pull on GTR's after launch. Modern 'Vettes like the C7 Z06 has the same 0-60 as a GTR NISMO SOOO the GTR literally has NO advantage at all. The C7 beats the NISMO in every category.

Turbos are heat pumps - you're losing a lot of efficiency with them being so far back. Why?
it is better for engine temperature but he will suffer from turbo lag because of the distance between the turbo and engine

Keeps the massive temperatures out of the engine bay, Lag isnt a big deal because even at 20% boost this thing can spin the tires at 100 mph, and past 100 mph he will have been in it long enough to hit full boost

A 427 LS7, he says it in the video. They more than likely had it completely forged.
No way its a stock block. Same ls7 bore and stroke but it's literally impossible to run that much horsepower through a stock LS7 block with its thin cast iron walls.
A LS7 is aluminum, not cast iron. But I'm guessing they made a completely forged LS7 block and destroked it, so they could hold the boost.
