I think fans like Tre Jones as a Spurs guy. We just need a similar taller, better 3pt shooter when Tre is not on the floor. Those minutes when when Tre is not on the floor have gone to Branham, Sochan, Wesley distributing the ball. The next 3 drafts, the Spurs have the assets to draft a true high ceiling PG. And you still want Tre on this team.
Tony Parker was 18 year old PG. Stephon Castle played PG in high school but adjusted his game to fit into the UConn system. A successful season would be signing Castle and he validates his potential as the Spurs PG for the future. As far as wins, I'd be happy with a 30 win season.
Tre Jones has only one year on his contract and should be traded in order not to lose this asset next year. He will be too costly to resign him to be in the rotation.
@@yopyop6166 After seeing everyone else on the roster bring up the ball and run the offense, I think Spurs need to consider resigning Tre and giving him a raise. The 1st unit and 2nd unit were better with him on the floor. But yes I hope the Spurs add higher ceiling PG talent in the next 2 drafts.

Wemby will be at least 25/12/6/3/4 next year. Do you think that he will wait four or five years to have a competitive team ? If you build the team without trades, you take the risk to lose your franchise player after his rookie's contract !
Because of the very bad players in the team, Spurs managed not to add a single victory compared to 2022 even if they drafted the best rookie since a very long time. Drafting 4th and 8th this year and perhaps 10th or even worse next year won't improve this team a lot.
And what the point to keep the Spurs draft picks if they are in playoff every year after 2025 ?

Depends on who we draft in the upcomingNBA draft.
As the team will develop and with a so skilled player as Wemby, they will start to increase the number of wins. Keeping the 2026, 2027,... draft picks make no sense as it could mean quickly drafting at the position 15-30. You don't build a contender by drafting average players !!!
I don't see Devin Vassel becoming a second option player for the Spurs but surely a third or fourth option. You need to find your second option (your Tony Parker) and then you will be able to add some elite defenders and good vets.
The 2024 draft will bring some good rotation players but I doubt that Risacher or Sarr could become franchise players and even second option players. You will have to find your second option by trading or at the free agency.
I don't think Atlanta or Chicago or Charlotte are going to move the needle that much. And that's where the picks come from.
We also have no idea how much the lottery is going to be as well.
Remember nobody saw us getting two draft picks this year did they? Did you.
And since the next few drafts appear to be better than this one is 11 to 15 is still a lottery.
Playoffs is considered successful however there should be a win now mentalitity , its uncertain wemby will be spurs for life if we take it slow-build mode ,remember what happened to orlando when laker snag shaq ,or lebron cavs ,went to miami
I get what you're saying. But these are different times and different types of players/people. We would have to have a losing record with basically no increase or worse in win shares for each of wembys first 4 years for him to want to leave I think.

This is wemby we re talking about, shaq is so much different and lebron team just so bad, spurs aint gonna make that mistake and if we re talking about bron and shaq that s like (5-8 years window span) so being bad in his first two season is not a bad thing

The Warriors (without Curry) are at the same level as the Spurs (with Wemby). So it depends on how long Curry stays & how fast the Spurs develop.

Thompson & Paul are leaving. Green doesn't play basketball anymore. Their best option after Curry is Kuminga/Wiggins which is no better than Wemby/Vassell

I think there's only going to be one or 2 teams that have amazing records. With how much talent is spread around the nba lots of teams will be in the 40 game range.
tbh i dont mind tanking for 2025 draft, rather than become a low mediocre team
