    Wow wow wow, wow indeeed
As a Japanese, it’s gonna be a great nightmare to have him as a prime minister of Japan.
He is just saying shits with huge confidence.
I’m overwhelmed with his such lies, illogical opinions…..
    Speechless,,, unbelievable
NHK (Japanese national broadcaster) sadly doesn’t have journalism spirits…

      Dear LDP,
Please plase please, I sincerely request you not to make the nightmare happens. We, the Japanese people have alre been in a bad dream (I hope it’s just a dream, but it’s real sadly).
I totally understand you guys, I mean Kishida, is the PM and the next PM is also one from LDP because WE (loads of stupid people) have chosen your party.

Kono is a politician who is constantly making mistakes and is disliked by many Japanese. Yet, he is considered one of the candidates for the next prime minister because of the bad system of hereditary succession that exists in Japan. Both Kishida and Abe, as well as Kono, have parents who were influential politicians.

First of all, Mr.Kono didn't seem to understand the meaning of the questions well. Around 2:00, when the interviewer asked “ back on track?”, he should have presented truths or statistics that prove the economy being back on track. It is so shameful he is one of the best English speaking ministers even this much of English. He said 'My Number Card' is successful, but it's not true. The most worrisome issue is that various fraud cases using My Number Card or stealing individual information from them is increasing. Mr.Kono's comments here are far from trustworthy.

Japan also has its issues, but the UK often seems more concerned with other countries’ problems than its own. For example, the situation in the UK is arguably worse than in Japan for several reasons. Firstly, the most common name for newborns is now Muhammad. Additionally, the birth rate among the white population is declining, and the aging population is increasing. Furthermore, the economic situation for companies is deteriorating. In some ways, the UK and Japan face similar problems

Stephen Sackur did his job, excellently as usual, and Taro Kono did his best to present his case as a minister of the government of Japan. I do feel that we need to have hard talk like this in the Japanese media as something of routine. In my opinion, it is the problem of the legacy media rather than the politicians themselves that Japan has come to this sad state of affairs. There is a general lack of critical assessment of the status quo, with Japanese journalists failing to put these hard but fair questions to politicians. Probably the NHK should start a program like HARDtalk.

    • @noranekoondo
      @noranekoondo 5 місяців тому +15

Until about ten years ago, there were still a few journalists who criticized politics and so on. Some politicians like Shinzo Abe, however, started to blame for them. They pressured the executives of Japanese broadcasts to stop to close up the bad aspects of politics, history and society of Japan. Certainly there were some Japanese people who didn't like such a criticism, but Shinzo Abe banned it more than anyone else with an implicit way, not with saying clearly.
After his death, this situation hasn't fully abolished, but it seems to have been ending. To tell the truth, I don't think his murder is a tragedy.

Too many people in media does ”忖度” in order to get personal gain. I particularly feel uncomfortable for those commentators who are "芸能人” or ”御用学者” trying to influence Japanese public in favour of current government. This kind of behaviour has further deteriorate quality of Japanese media. It is very sad.

Kono repeatedly responds with “you don’t have to worry about it” with extremely weak or sometimes self-contradictory arguments. He doesn’t seem to know the truth behind our horribly corrupt political and economic structures.
Japan would have been far better off if we had the media with this sense of critical and balanced thinking to face what is and isn’t just in our society. I admire BBC in that regard.
We can’t leave it as a joke or parody of some sort but I felt as if I was watching a horror movie which depicts some androids with no compassion whatsoever ruling the world. Or worse yet, elementary schoolers running a country having fun without realizing the unamendable harm they are causing. Anyway I am speechless 😢

Liberal Democrats are rotten milk that has been left alone for 20 years. The people are having a stomach ache, the main opposition parties point this out, then they were forced to drink out, and they choose to cozy up to the ruling party and the business. In addition, the lack of a change of government and the use of the constituency system and the deposit money system have made it impossible for anyone other than hereditary Diet members to be elected. This situation will not be resolved unless there will be a violent revolution like the French Revolution.
