The best poart about Christian terrorism, is it is "Paranoia With a Halo!" Please type Moses online and learn that there is zero evidence for Exodus or Moses. How educated are you?

It depends on how much you actually believe of the story. If one accepts the non biblical version of less than 10% of the number the Bible claims, there is reason to think of a tribe moving into and out of Goshen, Egypt.@@martinkent333

Tolstoy explained in such a simple, clear and irresistible way all the modern complicated labyrinths of psychological personality disorders! how could he've done that?! and with highlighting the beliefs and religious aspects as well! this is really GREAT❤

It was always taught to me: it is unavoidable that temptations come to us like birds flying overhead but one must make sure not to build a nest for them on our heads. This is why the story is called: the devil. The devil temps. We must tell him to get behind us. Nowadays, we might talk about neuroplasticity to help us clean up our mental mess.
But I too prefer not to keep chocolate, etc. in my house as not to have to think about it being there.
The other thought is: it is better to marry your sweetheart while young and inexperienced.

Those with aid to manage their affairs in life should probably have that set up for when they die, but all else should probably arrange for the debts and distribution arranged prior.
Morality often changes with what people think they can get away with.

This story about addiction... remind me when I decided to quit smoking..hahaha for 40 days and 40 nights I couldn't stop thinking of smoking nor couldnt stop going to where my nephew used to keep his pack.
unprosecuted abuse can hit the pure heart so hard, for pure hearts are so keen on preserving one's dignity.

Powerful, incredibly well read & recorded masterpiece.
Eugene ~ a clear case of pathological Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), is vexed with an addiction: Stephanita. This parable is frighteningly suggestive of Alcoholism, or any of the Obsession/Craving disorders, but it is richer, still. In this fascinating piece, Leo Tolstoy, explores with the lightest hand, drawing only the silhouettes of various other personality types typically sucked into the dance with an insatiable vampire.

Disagree with NPD. It doesn't come even close to explain anything.

Elisha needed to be loved exclusively in order to feel that she was loved, so monogamy was necessary.

      in scripture it says:
the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak,
      and
for I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out
well, this was eugene's dilemma, one that he was not able to resolve

Another story brilliantly read and the ending ruined with "ambient"noise.
Put the elevator music at the beginning where its impact won't be so devastating, or after the last word at least. Leave the author's work, and your own, unmolested.
It baffles me that you can read so well and not understand this.

If he, the reader, really could grasp the depth of this story, he probably would not read so well. This text is very closely related to Tolstoys biography. Agape, Eros and Thanatos. Blessed are the poor in spirit and mediocracy!

This is the reason why increasingly monogamy is being questioned in the modern world. Is it healthy or good for humans to pair exclusively with one at the exclusion of all others? For a small minority this may work, but for most it’s an unrealistic myth we aspire to. Nor is it desirable. Let’s open partnership and be honest about what really works for us and our families in the long term. In this way Eugene could have loved Liza - and others - without being wracked by the pain and guilt that led to his choosing death over honesty.
