Exactly what I was looking for at 12:35 to confirm the shocks are shot on mine. Thanks for taking the time to record and post!

The front shocks are harder to replace BC of the wire washer ring holding the boot. it takes 2 guys to get that wire washer back onto the boot. U dont need to remove the ground wire to get the shock off the chassis, I started from the back. I had to use a small pipe wrench to get the old/new shocks back onto the chassis bc the shocks are super tight. U cant remove it with hand. U need to lift up on those plastic tabs on the top and bottom shock head to get the shock off/on easier. it was easier to start from the base of the shock 1st then start at the other end of the shook that goes to the drum. My duet unit is 2011 so since then there have been engineering improvements to make life easier to install the new shocks onto the chassis that is why the motor is now a direct drive motor so there is no belt. the 2024 price is $ 55.00/shock. In LA, tech labor charges $250 .00 /shock so thanks for sharing your skill. the shaking doesn't occur until u go into rinse mode.

Well my Duet is a bit older. Maybe hitting 20 years. Wife complained about noise and tonight the machines (i have mine stacked) literally walked away from the wall.
Sure enough - one front shock was completely broke off and the other front one had no resistance
I’m ordering all 4- i can hear the squeaking a bit (my hearing sucks) and cost to replace that part is not worth it. 600$.
Thanks for vid. Looked pretty straightforward- just wanted to see who did this and how it came out.
How long have these been in use- and are they holding up
Can you provide the company on AMZ you used? I’m going with highest rated.
If I can get 2 more years out of this. In good to go.
    Thanks

Thank you sir. Ours sounds like it coming through the wall at time. Pretty sure this is the issue

Just did mine tonight. All of my shocks were completely detatched and broke. Quite a pain to get the bottom ones off but tounge in groove pliers seemed to work the best for the bottom ones.

Thank you for the video. I have a similar situation where the shock (spin cycle making loud tumbling noise) once in a while and also there is squeal sounds once in a while, not all the time when the drum is spinning. I have changed the shock absorber, and the tumbing noise seems to be going away. However, the squealing sound is still there. The squeal would last maybe one or two second during the whole entire cycle. I changed the drive pulley belt in the back. Model is a kitchen aid, but it is very similar, if not the same as the whirlpool. Would that be the bearing going out? Thank you in advance.

Usually the loud rumbling or gravely sounds and obviously squeaking (sporadically or during different cycles) is most definitely a bearing going. If you can still use it and live through the noise I’d keep using it but your time is running out.

im enjoying the video and want to know where did you purchase the shocks?

It was on Amazon. Almost everything I do uses Amazon for cost savings. I also use auction sites for increased savings. Amazon can get very close to 1 for 1 on most parts. Always try them first even before Lowes etc for convenience and savings

Man...a 29min video on replacing the shock absorbers. Doesn't even take that long to do it.
Twist off / Pull off / Insert new from top to bottom and it's done. Doesn't matter how the old ones get out.
