Happy Halloween everyone! For the most spooktacular event of the year, my fellow UA-camr and friend Erik and I decided to do a special medley versus round, resulting in a Luigi's Mansion Medley piano showdown! To celebrate the new game's release today, we mixed themes from all three Luigi's Mansion games in a cauldron to see what the result would be. The result is, needless to say, spooktastic!

For mine, I used the main themes from all three games and arranged them in chronological order. All three are creepy themes, so I didn't make them too virtuosic, since I wanted to make sure stay true to the mysterious quality of the music. The one flashy section in this arrangement is in between the themes from the second and third games, where a modulation from A minor to E-flat minor was necessary-a tritone away, very spooky! I also included a tribute to a special Russian friend of mine in this arrangement, so see if you can spot it. :)

the Original Luigi's Mansion song definitely had true Scary to it. It had spooky responses to the melody. Luigi's Mansion 2 was Unsettling, definitely gave the feeling you entered a place you shouldn't. Luigi's Mansion 3 song is "Spooky" but pretty much just as spooky as a techno remix of "Spooky Scary Skeleton". Kinda like a carnival ride with a hint of mr.bones.
I actually think Luigi's Mansion 3 's theme sounds kind of tragic. I agree that it does sound a bit carnivally with the original instrumentation, but when played on the piano it kinda has a sad vibe.
Why didn't Nintendo use a piano in the first place? It sounds so beautiful.

The 2's theme absolutely is my favourite, it's kinda gives the feeling that something bad is going to happen soon
SennaTheSenna when I hear the 3rd one I get a “calm before the storm” kind of vibe. Like things are tense in the beginning, and then it slows down so much that it gives you a false sense of security. The 2nd one gives me the tragedy vibe you’re describing.
I think the 3° is meant to be more melodic and energic.
I mean, you enter on a fabulous hotel that is revealed to be a trap, so the song has it's beautifull notes, like a song you would hear on a hotel,and it's twisted to something darker. It's like a dream slowly turning into a nightmare.
At the start there I thought you were gonna start playing little red riding hood by rachmaninoff

I belive the luigis mansion 1 song was the main mansion theme.

Erik's rendition is good but man, your's is better. I'm not a music theory guy but I've listened to both recordings maybe 10 times over (it's become my adult lullaby, I dont know) and your version has a cohesion to it that brings it up to the next level.

@@glacier8678 I didn't say I didn't like it, I do enjoy it. In my personal opinion I just don't think it's as good as the first two themes. Nostalgia has nothing to do with it, since I immediately enjoyed the 2nd game's theme upon release back in 2013. If you enjoy the 3rd theme as much as the first 2 then I respect your opinion, I just don't find it as memorable my self.
