The Strasurg Railroad, located in Lancaster County, PA is one of the most well known destinations in Eastern Pennsylvania. Famous for it's steam-powered tourist passenger trains, the railroad delights hundreds of thousands of people every year with it's scenic train rides through the Amish countryside. However, the railroad also does freight business on the side; loads are delivered to their interchange with Amtrak, and then hauled back to Strasburg.
On December 28th, 2016, Norfolk Southern delivered an unusually heavy load to the interchange. The decision was made that, in order to get the train back to the station, Strasburg would be required to use not one, but TWO of their steam locomotives! This rare train (called a "doubleheader") provided a special treat to those who braved the cold morning to see it happen! Thanks to the Strasburg Railroad for another awesome show!

WHO GONNA BE AT THE STRASBURG TOMORROW FOR OPENING DAY I WILL BE IM HOPING TO Meet INDIE1361 Alex Gillespie rail production and railfan thommy eastern railfan productions and more I will be there around 11 hopefully but if not I'm gonna be there to chase the 12 excursion up the line and back and then ride it with my dad my wife and do videos on it as well I'm excited for it as well because it's my first time going for opening day excursions at strasburg railroad since 21 years ago now it's gonna be nice weather sunny and 60 degrees hope to see lots of rail production guys there
