I credit that little railroad, as well as a certain blue tank engine, with instilling a deep passion for trains and railroads within me. I have been back to Strasburg now that I'm older, to the point where one of the staff members said, "I've seen you here before."
This by far has to be one of the best produce videos of the strasburg railroad that's available great insight and very immersive. As a frequent Lancaster County visitor I appreciate the dedication put into this.
Absolutely, the sounds of the steam engine are incredible, especially on a good stereo system. I actually did the audio for this with the camera's internal pre-amps, usually that results in poor audio, but the Panasonic Lumix camera did not disappoint. I personally loved the way it captured the bubbling and gurgling of the water in the air compressor and the dripping of the water droplets onto the floor of the engine house, that scene in particular I am pleased with the audio.
Beautiful footage! I love this Decapod. It is in good condition. Valve box glands are tight (soviet steam locos often had problems with this). Thank you for this video!

Thank you. Very happy you enjoyed it. It took more effort, money, and time than the generic railfan video, but we feel it was well worth that. While more videos in this same spirit are planned, due to the extensive time needed to plan, coordinate and then film a video like this, these sort of videos will be once every few months.

90 has the prettiest bell of any locomotive out there.
The same can be said for her 6 chime whistle.
9:13 If you look closely you can actually see the dome of BEDT 15 aka Strasburg Thomas by a small shed.
My Dad was a fireman on the 90 in the late 50s when No. 90 was used to haul sugar beets for the Great Western Railroad in Northern Colorado.

There something so satisfying about seeing the fireman shovel coal into a steam locomotives firebox and filling the tender tank with water
