finally someone using the l298n as a esc i was looking everywhere i live in jordan an esc costs around 40 us but an l298n costs 2.5 us, thanks dude and keep up the good work.
Dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
so I was browsing youtube for hovercraft projects like this since I am working on one myself. I've tried using CPU fans for the thrust and similar to your results, they didn't quite hit expected results.
Fantastic project, thnx for so many insights that will no doubt save me a lot of trial and error! Most full-scale hovercraft do not have a plate on the bottom. I guess you put that there due to the relatively low force from the lift fan? But the plate would add mass and drag - have you tried the skirt without the bottom plate? Thnx again, I'm really looking forward to giving this a go over the holidays! cul billd
I might try again without the plate and less garbage bag (lower profile). But the hole in the bottom needs to be sized just right to not to constrict the fan. I have some parts on order and hope to work on another version during the holidays as well. Let me know how yours turns out. I'm just learning as I go!

I've got some ideas cooking for version 2. Hoping for much better performance and to get it out on the water.
Nice work
Thanks!
