Just did mine the exact way you did it last night and it worked perfectly, but I used a 6K975 belt instead, your video helped me with the routing of the belt. Originally I tried running the belt from the alternator to the idler pulley then to the tensioner but I flipped it to exactly the way you did it and it worked great. Thanks for the video
It obviously doesn't work for all Ford pickup trucks that year model, but for some it seems to be working great. It took a lot of trial and error for me to get this done correctly
Tim, I would love to get to diagram of how you routed that belt. I bought those exact parts for my 96 f150 5.0-302 and they do not work for some reason. I feel stupid 😢. I can’t pause to get a better look. Thanks
I am very sorry that it is not working out for you. This was a long time ago when I put this video up and if I still have the truck here, I would definitely show you exactly what I did.
Did not work on my 96 f150 5.0l...alternator belt squeal & only 12.2volt charge...ugh,ty anyway...I did exactly how you said/showed,wasnt proper on mine
Just attempted this on a '95 F150 with the 302 and the 97" belt is too short to get on. The original 99" belt fits but squeals due to not enough tension. Picked up a 98" that I'm going to try today.
Thanks for the video. Any issues with squeals (startup, AC on or moisture from humidity)? I tried the 6K975 belt with that same pulley, everything seemed fine until this morning I'm assuming the humidity and moisture caused the slight chirp on acceleration.
I did not have any issues, but I did have a new tension pulley and quite a few other things were new on the front end, which I think probably made a big difference. My nephew still drives the truck to this day and has had no issues with the belt squealing. I think I just got lucky
Hey bro i know its been 10 months but the reason it squeals is because its a 97.5 and has just half an inch more that it should its still snug but it will squeal if you swap to just a 97 it should stop thats what i did
I just did this and bought the belt swapped pulleys the belt was to small so I put the other one other than the initial start it will squeal but hell with it its an old junk truck
Sorry for the delayed response, I hardly get on UA-cam. I'll try to get you a diagram, but one thing is for sure I had a new tensioner pulley and several new parts on the front end. That could be the difference
I figure it out I have a 1995 ford f150 302 I had to use a 97.54 and a half Napa part number 6K975 fits just right and snug thanks to tis video the pulley works 38009 I just had to get a different belt
I have a 93 ford f150 xlt 5.0 Doing the exact job as in video. Just tryin to bypass the smog unit without removing it.(bolts stuck.) Napa pulley-38009 Napa belt-060970 The pulley works alright. Fits good and no issues installing it but, I can't get the belt on. Seems to be a tad too short. Going to try your suggestion with a Napa- PBH 6K975 (which is 97.54in). Hopefully it works. If not then I'll have to get a 98in belt. Thanks for your suggestion, I just might get this old ford on the road this year. Maybe...
I have heard that 96 F150 have OBD2 that causes the check engine light to come on when you delete the smog pump. Did your check engine light come on on your 5.0 302 96 after you deleted your smog pump?
You just saved my van. With in 20 seconds of watching this video. Thank you so much

@@timgray6099 at the end it works flawlessly,
I had to use a 975 belt. But it worked nonetheless. 💪

How do you get around the check engine codes for a 1996
Where do you put the new pulley?

Your the first person I have heard call this engine junk.
Why would you want a carburetor insted of injection.?

Good luck man, no telling how I got lucky here but I did have a bunch of new parts before I put the belt on.
The 98" belt fit perfectly. Ribbed idler, new belt, and a couple of zip ties on the upper radiator hose and all was good.
Did you have any issues with coolant leaking afterwards? Also the belt you have wouldn’t work on mine it was about an inch to short.
Just did that today, works great
What pulley did you replace
Idler Pulley
Does your truck have AC? I want to do this on my XL but I have a factory non AC truck. Thanks

Bought the parts but cant seem to make it work . 5.0 efi 96 f150. It seems loose. Need belt diagram please.

will this work on a 1993 ford lightning 351
Tried this. 97 is too short and it'll run on the upper radiator hose. 95 Bronco we. 305. :/
Did you find something that worked for you?
Try Napa part number 6K975 is 97.54 inches works just rite for me 1995 ford f150 xl 302
Had the same issue with the upper radiator hose. I just pulled it back with a couple of zip ties and bracket
I have a 1995 Ford f150 XL 5.0 302 I wont to do this will it work thanks Scotty
How much did the pulley and the belt cost for this
I cannot remember the price but I can look it up later and let you know
Tim Gray is your truck model a xl or xlt
Do you a belt diagram or pictures of the belt routing
302*
305 was chevy and was a really shite motor
What motor is in your truck
305 v8 5.0 with EFI
I have heard that 96 F150 have OBD2 that causes the check engine light to come on when you delete the smog pump. Did your check
engine light come on on your 5.0
302 96 after you deleted your smog pump?
You can get a kit that comes with connectors that trick your computer and stops check engine light for egr and smog deletes
@@kiradelong9698 what is the kit called do you have link for it ?
Did you have a code for bypass.
Will you send a diagram please
