Sorry for the audio issues when I'm driving. Thanks for hanging out with me this Sunday! I'm excited to bring you all with me as I head to the west coast 😊. In case anyone needs them, here are links to the videos I used to learn how to build the shelf & sew the cushion covers. Shelf Video: ua-cam.com/video/lu6ps6Mi9rE/v-deo.html DIY Cushion Covers: ua-cam.com/video/oDSUS_IRi9k/v-deo.html How to Use Sewing Machine: ua-cam.com/video/0mho1C7LxFk/v-deo.html
The fact that you're so patient is what allowed you to score that amount of fabric at such low cost. I love that you took the time to gather the materials yourself, and used your hands to create the exact cushion you wanted. You could've easily bought that cushion readymade somewhere. Knowing you made it with your own hands makes it much more intentional and special.
You experienced an Ikea moment with your fabric....Have you ever seen the Ikea commercial when a customer hurriedly was leaving a Ikea store after purchasing items? The prices were so unexpectedly low that they were paranoid that someone would stop them from leaving. As they ran to their vehicle, they were shouting "START THE CAR, START THE CAR"!!! LOL!!
Hi. I love your videos! I would like to make a suggestion regarding your new cushion covers. I suggest you wash the old ones and put them back on under your new ones. When it’s time for the new ones to be washed it will slide right on. Think of your old covers as a pillow protector. It will make wash day a lot less tedious.😊
Idk why this warmed my heart so. I mean I might just be hormonal 😂 but it really made me feel good to hear you laughing with your family and enjoying each other's company. I'm excited to follow along on your road trip!
Go study and put a reminder to watch Monique on the refrigerator or somewhere you can see it. Make sure you like and subscribe to everything she posts! Love from Bellevue, Washington ❤️ 😍
lol, I feel you. I often get caught up on UA-cam when I have work I should be doing. My video will still be here AFTER you’re done with your homework 😊❤️!
Congratulations on your cushion cover; beautiful color. Also, I loved the baskets and the new shelf. I’m happy for you. I’m glad that you have your parents and hopefully you can reach your goal.😊 Thank you for the magnet tip; I need to purchase those 😊
Monique I was so excited for this new video. And, even more excited to see you doing upgrades to the van. You did a great job on the cushion, especially for a first timer. I remembered sewing for the first time in high school, home make class. I made a shirt and was so proud. Keep up the great work. Keep Smiling. And, enjoy your travels out West.
Oh my gosh! A dude took my cart at Walmart last week too! He took my stuff out and wheeled it away. I turned around just in time to see him and I caught up with him and told him "That's my cart!" He gave it back right away. Great job on the cushion covers, Monique.
If the slight unevenness of the shelf is still an issue, you can always cover it with a nice cream macrame trim, with little tassels on it. That would look good with the colour palette in your van. Just a thought. Safe travels
You are a low key comedian…! You totally made me LOL and I had to spit my food out!! 🤣 mam, that fabric did cost $7 @Walmart!! They have the lowest price guarantee!!! ⭐️
That is Yahki Awakened... I listen to him as well. I want to start van life, but I now have a child, and I want to bring him along. His father may not like that though!!!
As Salaam Alaikum, yeah sis I have the same problem at Walmart when I go to get fabric. I go early in the morning so not to take anyone from a busy area, they give me the same answers (lol). “I don’t work this area”, can call someone and then wait forever. So take the blessings. Also when traveling across the country be careful I will be making dua for you.
Lol Monique at your Walmart experience. The Walmart here where I live is the same way. They forced this elderly woman to retire and she worked in the fabric dept., she did an excellent job, after she left good customer service left with her. I used to make quilts and they had me waiting a long time on several occasions. One time I waited so long for help, for over a half hour, I was tempted to measure and cut my own material, lol. Good customer service is rare nowdays.
Watching this video is like watching a movie. Only eight minutes in thankfully there’s much more for me to lunch but at least up until this point it feels like I’m watching a movie and I love your scenes.
i go to JoAnn's or Michaels for anything that has anything to do with materials. Both stores are throughout the US and they have a great selection, types of fabrics, and suggestion for doing whatever your project is. Just a better experience. both offer great prices!!!
What staple ingredients do you always keep in your fridge & pantry? What grains do you mainly eat? Are you ever going to upload your vegan recipe pages for purchase? You’ve inspired me to seriously change my diet.
I can talk definitely about these things in a video. The grains I mainly eat are quinoa and brown rice. Several people have asked me to make a cookbook, so I might do that in the future.
I know many employees of walmart are on food stamps bc they are not paid a liveable wage, so my assumption is that is why the customer service is poorer there… or in the case of that last employee who gave you that fabric for 7$, OUTSTANDING customer service since they are not paid enough to care
I really love how your shelf turned out and now I really want one too! And I love that your patience was rewarded with such a huge discount on that fabric 😁😁😁 Do you feel you lack space in your van or is it the perfect size for you to live in?
What you save in money at Walmart, you WILL spend in time. Alhamdulillah, that you have such lovely parents! I'm wondering whether you have saved the 1st cushion cover by removing the zipper with a seam ripper.
Monique 👋, Good Morning!!! Watching your new upload early in the morning is one of the best ways to start my day. I absolutely love this video. Also watching you try to get the right facial expressions when describing the lady you brushed had me DYING 😆!!! I agree wholeheartedly with what you said about shopping Walmarts… I absolutely HATE shopping in that place. A lot (not all of course) don’t seem to care about their jobs and are just there to cut a check. Some even try to avoid running into customers and considering “customer service” is the main field for a job like that… that’s not good business. I also love the relationship you have with your parents. It’s a beautiful thing especially in today’s day and age. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy your travels to the West Coast. If you look online prior to travel, you can search all of the free spots (city and National Parks / BLM Land) before you arrive and that should make your stays a lot simpler. As always, another great video 👏🏿. Please be safe, enjoy your time with family and loved ones, and keep smiling because it looks really good on you 😌. I look forward to your next adventure. Enjoy the rest of your day and hopefully the upcoming week is a fantastic one for you. 🖤
Good morning! lol, I laughed at myself when I was editing this video. The Walmart employee I asked to call someone did that to me! After our first two encounters, she saw me a third time and turned around and walked the other way 😂. I just had to laugh. That’s when I found the guy who gave it to me for 7 bucks, so I’m happy she turned around! I’ll definitely do some research before I head west. Thank you for riding with this channel for so long. I hope you have a beautiful week!
Attitudes at stores by employees is in equal relation to their pay and how they're treated by their employer. Kroger and Walmart employees are treated awful and it shows. We have a Co-Op grocery store here as well and I try to shop there when I can simply for the vibe. I don't own a vehicle so it's a bit of a hassle to get there, but when I need the energy boost or just don't want to deal with the "tudes" I'll make the trip.
Hi Monique great video your shelf looks great! Your parents seem to be very nice people how does it feel sleeping in a bedroom opposed to sleeping in your van every night? Break needed?
Hi! I’m actually sleeping on a couch in the basement, so it doesn’t feel much different, since they’re both very slim sleeping areas that don’t allow me to sprawl out. I’d say the best part of being here is having access to a toilet that flushes and a shower.
I can’t stand rudeness on any level, but to hear 👂🏽 “I don’t work there,” knowing the correct response is: “let me find someone in that department for you.” Trifling behaviour. 🙇🏽♀️
Sawubona! Mi hermana!!! Yebo! I love your relationship with your parents. It reminds me of my own. Mine are goofy, supportive, loving, protective, definitely a different generation and don't know exactly why I'm going about life the way I'm choosing, but as long as I'm happy, safe and in touch with them, they know I'm going to accomplish what I've set out to do. Curious, as you hit the road do you map out wifi spots for uploads? Or have you any thoughts about portable hotspots? Do you plan on/have you reactivated your starlink? I've been basically doing what you've done in this video for the past two months and like I've said in previous messages, I am ready to launch but be out of the city, far away from here and I want to make sure I can keep up with my virtual work and passive income as well as building in opportunities to work from the road with ease. So I think a digital nomad flow/process video would be helpful...I mean the basics and how you keep up with your humanity is always great to see, but I think the missing insight for me is how are recording and uploading consistently? Especially from the road, I typically in a stable location near a wifi grid so my portable hotspot works well enough but it's not unlimited in data. So when you're not on grid, how do you continue to stay connected? I'm asking as I approach different ways to present my self on the virtual sphere without burning out. Where I am able to develop more quality and consistency of outflow, while sharing what this process is for me...a necessary step in my transformation journey. Anyway, see you on the road sis! The shelf looks great, I have to do some ceiling work and a shelf would be so useful! I also wanna shoutout your hallway!!! I love the open floor space in your layout!
Hey sis 🧡🌼😊. The first paragraph you wrote perfectly describes the dynamics of my family! They don’t fully understand the choices I make, but as long as I’m happy and safe, they’re happy. What a blessing that we both have such unconditional love in our life ❤️. Regarding wifi, I will usually visit a nearby city or town once a week to use my hotspot. I try to get whatever online work I need done during that time, then I’ll go to another campground. Honestly, I’m hoping by the end of this year, my income will be at a place that allows me to turn my Starlink on more consistently. Starlink is SO pricey, but for me, it’s worth it to be able to stay at campgrounds longer without having to leave once a week. Thanks for the video idea! I can certainly talk about this I’m a future video. Be well. Hopefully we’ll run into each other one of these days. I love your vibes and see so much of myself in you ❤️❤️.
@simmpleenough Likewise in regards to the mirror we hold up to each other, i.e: "i see my self in you." So grateful to be here on earth at the same time as you. Til our paths cross🫸🏾✨️🫷🏾✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Starting with an "allow me to introduce myself" vlog this week. So keep your eyes peeled for that. Here's to getting your Starlink back up!!! Call it in. And so it is. I'm debating whether it's worth it, but I'm currently more analog than digital as a nomad, so spending time periods in areas that have wifi or grid access is the plan for now usual approach to the journey. Talk to you soon!
Do you have a network of friends and/or family members that live across the country when going out west? When I was an officer, we exchanged information at the Academy because we lived all over the state in case we broke down in a one of our classmates area we can call for assistance. It worked when my daughter and her college friends were stranded at the beach at night and I was able to reach out and have them taken back to their college.
That’s awesome and very smart. Most of my family is on the east coast. I have one cousin in L.A. and that’s all I know of. That’s one of the cons of being a deeply rooted introvert…I don’t any have friends to call in cases of emergencies! The few people I know live east. My plan is to call the local police if I’m ever in a jam. I also want to order a Garmin satellite phone (or whatever it’s called), for emergencies.
Walmart treats their employees so badly, why would they care? Walmart is making huge profits. Walmart gets what they pay/don’t pay for. You have to manage your expectations or you will be frustrated. Better treatment of employees gets better customer service from them.
You hit the jackpot with the bolt of fabric. I do a lot of sewing and never found that much fabric for $7. Your parents are awesome. What a blessing. Much Love and happiness to you always. Many Blessings 😊
When I was much, much younger, shopping for my first apartment after college, a Walmart employee made me cry because she was so dismissive and disrespectful. And she actually laughed at my distress. It was the worst I’ve ever been treated, and it was by someone who looks like me. I avoided Walmart for years after that. I’m now a Walmart shopper, but that’s mostly because I get everything delivered or curbside pickup. I’d shop somewhere else if I had to deal with those rude for no reason attitudes.
Where my sister lives there are two Walmarts within 20 minutes of each other. One is the super Walmart and one is the little neighborhood store. The super Walmart is just horrible as far as customer service goes. I wouldn’t go there unless I had to but the little store is fantastic. It’s basically mainly groceries but very friendly and helpful employees.
You did a great job on those covers! It is not easy to sew and making mistakes is part of the process. The color on camera looked burnt orange which I thought was beautiful but if it’s brown I love that too!! ❤🎉
Thank you! I might’ve inherited some of my dad’s color blindness, lol. Yesterday, my mom called the color an orange rust, so I think you’re right. Either way, I like it 😊.
Here's a little humor for you, so I watch Asian car camping so I have to turn in the "Caption". I'm now watching your video and as you're walking down the hall the caption says "Applause" 🤣🤣it thinks the sound of your shoes is clapping👏😂😂
I'm on the floor laughing about that deal on the fabric! You deserved to get a good price after dealing with those people who could care less about their customers. Also I totally agree with you in regard to shopping at various stores and the caliber of the folks who shop at those stores. I won't shop at stores with dirty parking lots because I already know before I go in if they don't care about the outside, they really don't care about what they sell to you either. I loved the conversation between you and your parents, it shows how you'll feel about each other. Very nice video, Take care Monique. 💕
You deserve any blessings you receive! And yea, if something like that happens, I always just say...well, I deserve it! lol (Especially with all that I have gone through. Starting my new job tomorrow so here's hoping it all goes ok! Thanks again for blessing me and btw...I sent you an email (maybe you don't check that one often or just missed it?) just to kinda say thanks in my own way aside from here....liked the vlog...so nice for you family to support your dreams...truly a blessing...one I wish I had. Congrats on the new upgrades and so looking forward to your trip coming up!
Thank you 😘❤️❤️. I didn’t get your email. You sent it to simmpleenough@gmail.com? I checked my spam, too. If you respond to this, respond in a completely separate comment, please. UA-cam doesn’t notify me when people respond to my replies & I never remember to check. I hope your first day of work went well!!
28:56 What a deal, and pretty color fabric. I hope you prewashed and dried it bc it'll shrink substantially when washed, if it's 100% cotton, if polyester no worries. Ask me how I know🙄 Oh I wanted to yell through the TV, you just had to add another 9" zipper connected to the top of the same seam...
Wow, I can’t believe I wasted that cushion cover! I never would’ve thought to add another zipper 😖🤦🏾♀️. If I ever see more cushion covers, I’ll definitely remember this. Thank you ❤️.
Your blessed to have wonderful. loving and supportive parents. I love your new shelf and renovations. Thank you for bringing me along on your journey as a Nomad. I will be hitting the road in 3 weeks and I am scared, yet excited. Much gratitude!
Monique, first of all I absolutely adore you! And lol, how do you get your tofu so golden and yummy looking? My tofu, firm and xtra firm, always ends up as a scramble! Thanks Monique ❤❤
Hi, and thank you ❤️. I let the pan get really hot, add some oil, add the tofu, and let the tofu sit there without moving for a few minutes. If you try to flip the tofu, but it still sticks to the pan, that *typically* means it’s not browned yet and not ready to be flipped, so let it sit a little longer and try again. That’s really all I do. Hope that helps!
Hi Monique! I’m excited for you to come to the west coast. I think I’ll have a great time! I live on the west coast and would be honored to meet up with you for a day to show you some sights if you end up near the Bay Area. I recently bought a Connect and your channel has been a source of inspiration to me. :)
Hi! Congrats on your new van 🙌🏾. Thank you for offering to show me around! If I go to the Bay Area, I’ll be sure to mention it in a video and please reach out again 😊.

That’s a hilarious commercial 😂

I was thinking the same thing!
That’s such a good idea! I’m about to run upstairs and see if they’re still in my van because I’m not sure if I tossed them already.
@@simmpleenough did you find them? I hope you did.
Anyone else here patiently awaiting for a video in the morning?????? Alhamdolella ❤
"Hi my new shelf, I love you." lol too cute.
Lol
Monique, this is the most I've seen you laugh, and I'm here for it❤❤❤
My gosh same! I never shop at Walmart, I’m way too nice and polite lol for such a rude environment.
Sometimes people can be very rude, but sometimes Walmart employees can be Fabulous ❣️😊💗
Idk why this warmed my heart so. I mean I might just be hormonal 😂 but it really made me feel good to hear you laughing with your family and enjoying each other's company. I'm excited to follow along on your road trip!
I’ve left Walmart without going in to shop just based off the parking lot vibe! I feel you 💯 😄 Have a safe journey 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thank you 😊
❤❤ new day, new opportunities! Enjoying your journey, girl! Get it sis 👏
Girl you just brought back a flood of memories with this scene Thank you
It is perfectly imperfect. I love the new upgrades. You are an inspiration.
Congratulations on your cushion cover; beautiful color.
Also, I loved the baskets and the new shelf. I’m happy for you.

Til our paths cross🫸🏾✨️🫷🏾✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Starting with an "allow me to introduce myself" vlog this week.
Remember Harbor Freight. Most things are cheaper #magnets
My dad JUST told me about harbor freight a couple of days ago. I need to check it out.
What did you Season your Stir Fry Veggies with?
Granulated garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili paste, and a little bit of salt.
@@simmpleenough Thanks 🙏🏾
Well I’ve run into people in Portland, Maine’s Whole foods, that were very rude, and racist. So it depends on the people ❤️
Do you have a network of friends and/or family members that live across the country when going out west?
What software do you use to edit if you don't mind me asking?

Walmart treats their employees so badly, why would they care? Walmart is making huge profits. Walmart gets what they pay/don’t pay for. You have to manage your expectations or you will be frustrated. Better treatment of employees gets better customer service from them.
I don’t care for Walmart
I went to target😂😂😂😂😂 you deserve clothes and self care Monique
Nice baskets
Same here Kroger sucks
Buy some comfortable work out clothes. You look very uncomfortable
What is your father’s age? He looks young for an older guy.
He’s in his early 60’s. I think 63 or 64. I’ll show him your comment. It’ll make him smile!
@@simmpleenough By the way he moves I thought he was maybe 53-54 the most.
You were listening to Yah’ki Rapha Elohim/ Brother Yahki Awakened.✨🫶🏾👏🏾
Yup!!
You hit the jackpot with the bolt of fabric. I do a lot of sewing and never found that much fabric for $7. Your parents are awesome. What a blessing.
Much Love and happiness to you always. Many Blessings 😊
Thank you 😊❤️
When I was much, much younger, shopping for my first apartment after college, a Walmart employee made me cry because she was so dismissive and disrespectful.
Wow, that’s horrible. Thank goodness was they have the curbside option, now. I’ve used it a few times.
I 💕💕💕 the way you laugh, when you laugh and put your hand over your mouth it's
so oOoOO oOoOO cute
lol 😊❤️
Peace. You have awesome parents. Great fabric deal. That color will pop in your van
Wonderful Content as well Tutorials for those in unforeseen situations or minimalist
Great sewing skills🥰!!
I'm now watching your video and as you're walking down the hall the caption says "Applause" 🤣🤣it thinks the sound of your shoes is clapping👏😂😂
lol! I watch a lot of Korean channels and have my captions on, too, so I know exactly what you’re talking about 😂
Everyone seems to be angry in this day and age. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I look forward to your Sunday morning videos. Looking forward to your trip. Stay blessed ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I'm on the floor laughing about that deal on the fabric! 💕
I feel the same way when I see dirty parking lots!
I make the same shopping choices for the same reasons.
We love your ingenuity! Blessings dear one🌱
Another enjoyable video. You have wonderful parents. I can hardly wait to see your cross country footage.
Thank you ❤️
If you are ever near a Joanne’s Fabric store, they are great and have lots of discount coupons👍
You sound comfier and happier in this vid. Love your vibe
You did a wonderful job 😇❤️
Yay west coast!😊
❤❤
28:56 What a deal, and pretty color fabric. I hope you prewashed and dried it bc it'll shrink substantially when washed, if it's 100% cotton, if polyester no worries. Ask me how I know🙄
Oh I wanted to yell through the TV, you just had to add another 9" zipper connected to the top of the same seam...
Thank you! And you’re very welcome.
