I don’t know, am I a big softy? I find this incredibly moving. I think these children, these young women, are not only remarkable, but they are also ordinary examples of what human beings are capable of when they are raised in dignity and promise.
This is awesome! The Sisters pf the Holy Family from this St. Mary's Motherhouse also taught at Our Lady of Grace in Reserve LA- which I am a proud alum!
New Orleans has it problems However the abundance of HBCUS and historical black private schools really makes new orleans a meca fir boack excellence But like girls gone wild to katrina nobody wants to focus on the sheer Majesty of New Orleans and the New Orleans people
Pretty sure St. Marys has had a 100% graduate rate in more than just 17 years....I dont remember no one not graduating when I was attending there as well as graduated. Class of 99'
Sister Henriette DeLille is also the first person of color from the United States to be nominated to be cannonized by the Catholic church. She founded the nuns' order, Sisters of the Holy Family. She was also an advocate for enslaved people. She was a remarkable woman.
Beautiful....watch the movie with Vanessa Williams playing Arriet...Diane Carol played her mom .. beautiful story and good to hear more about her legacy.
I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS MOVIE TWICE. SHE CHOSE HER DEVOTION TO GOD OVER HER LOVE FOR THE FRENCH DOCTOR. THE NAME OF THE MOVIE IS "THE COURAGE TO LOVE".
Seems nobody wants to focus on the traditional educational philosophies, strategies and curricula that result in outcomes like these two remarkable students. Even this rare 60 Minutes piece doesn't want to touch it. Exactly how hard have the NEA, the AFT and all the education programs in colleges/universities (elite and otherwise) been working to collect and analyze the data and thereby REPLICATE what these highly successful schools are doing? Because I'm very interested in this issue, and I am just not seeing it. Their abject, ongoing failure to do so should be considered CRIMINAL. How many generations of poor students have been failed by these bureaucrats? Systemic racism...INDEED!
Good Lord. You can't see the forest from the trees. Because this school is successful doesn't mean that systemic racism doesn't exist or affect education offerings. Hello, we live in a country now where it is illegal in many red states to teach factual American history because white supremacist legislation.
Your not lying your just blind, beautiful women all over the planet and the most beautiful can be anywhere anytime So yea your lying and missed the whine point of the post
Fantastic report. CBS almost tried to make it about race, (as media usually does). These young ladies achieve their scholastic goals because the School sets STANDARDS, the teachers and administration believe in those standards. The Academy probably gets rid of students who choose not to follow the standards. Most Importantly these young ladies have parents who prioritize education. It is not magic or a fluke. It is a recipe for success no matter what race, class or gender the students are.
Puh-leeze. CBS did no such thing. It reported on the achievement of two students and provided context to understand the history of the school. It's amazingly intellectually dishonest to think that speaking the truth that St Mary's was founded by an African American woman who defied the law to provide education to Black girls should not be mentioned.
@@SunnyDaysAOK You're stating a fact. We're being opinionated based up on our personal observations. Lighten up. Besides, you would not say that if you've been to West Virgina. 🤣🤣

GOD continue Blessing these young women 🙏🏾
I think these 2 young women should win a Nobel in mathematics!❤🎉😊
Unfortunately, there is not a Nobel for mathematics.
@@MathNotMathing There is it is just called the Fields Medal (maybe not Nobel) but certainly equivalent to the Nobel but specifically for mathematics.
Most Definitely. Black Girl Magic.
Wonderful Presentation and way to educate people.

THE NAME IS
"THE COURAGE TO LOVE" STARRING VANESSA WILLIAMS
For people who say that black excellence doesn’t exist I should show them this video and I also show that you can persevere all the stack against you
HENRIETTE DELILLE, is portrayed by Vanessa Williams in a film " THE COURAGE TO LOVE"
Thanks!❤
This is pure greatness and a tremendous intellectual feat. Congratulations 👏 👏 👏

It’s unfortunate educators/policymakers are not attempting to replicate this institution’s model in urban areas around the Nation.
Bravo to those girls. Shame on those who thought they couldn't do it!

On another note
The most beautiful white women in america live in North Georgia
The most beautiful black women live in New Orleans
Tell me im lying
There are beautiful black women all across this country.
It's ground zero of the Nation vanity belt that runs east to Carolinas and west to House.
There are beautiful women everywhere.

Well as a creole woman from New Orleans - thank you
