- People Are COMING For This TikToker For Selling A $150 Cup.. (this is bad)
You guys, this is the pettiest drama on TikTok. Not that the other ones are ever serious enough to attract national concern...now that I think about it, every drama on TikTok is petty. However, this one has taken the crown, just by how much people are invested in it and the sheer number of stitches it has attracted... we really have so much time on our hands guys. Anyway, luvs, let's get right into it.

I can't believe i'm sitting here watching drama about a damn cup.
Lmao
And the Stanley cup didn’t impact that lol if it wasn’t for that I’d be 100 times more surprised
Same 😂😂😂
Fr ✋
lmfao same
its like, its ok for small businesses to charge more than mass manufacturing businesses. but $81 USD is insane, there’s no way anyone genuinely thinks thats a fair price
Exactly!!! It’s not I do the same hobby and it does not cost this much to make the mugs and her designs are very simple I’ve seen ceramics with better detail for much cheaper.
I could literally buy 10 big mugs for that price like holy cow,
@@Naifyas But at the same time its not even completely handmade she buys that dough if she made the dough then its handmade 100% but its not and she has people helping her sooo
It may not be good when you spend too much on these things by having to get my money that will be higher than the price of it
That "I have to pay my employees," excuse is ridiculous, employee wages come from the owner not the product.
150 for a cup is crazyyy 😲🤯
Fr
Iknr😂
Frfr
I thought it was like 100% hand made, like hand molded and cooked but no she uses molds! Like girl bye. 😂
150 Australian!
there are electric mugs that keep your coffee and tea warm for less than $150....
125 dollar cup that's like my whole bank account for one cup
I KNOW! And it's barely a regular mug size
It's a one of a kind piece of art
@@lisajosskixassit’s not tho, it’s a basic mug with two handles.. if you rlly wanted to you could make it at home for wayyy cheaper
@@lisajosskixassit isnt tho? there are identical ones
Yes that may be true, but there are far more basic art paintings worth thousands of dollars and people still buy them. People just chose what art has more value to them which is fine. To this business owner she believed that her work and time was worth 150 dollars. I don't see the issue. As a consumer, if you don't think a mug is worth 150 dollars, don't buy it just to complain about it later. It's not for you. In my personal opinion, all that this did was tarnish a business owner for no reason. @@jadaafaith
Why do people make excuses and justify small business owners when they play the victim card. Specially when no one called them out? Also, she was the one who decided to cry to the net in defense of her craft . Also, she uses molds, which made her handmade craft not that much of a handmade product. You can use molds they exist to help your workload but unless YOU made the molds too, stop calling your work 100% handmade and cry when people call you out for overpricing. She shoot her self in the foot and now cries asking why?
Yea, if she made the molds herself then maybe that would be a different story, but I still wouldn’t pay 125$ for a handmade cup, unless Jesus walked across an ocean to make it out of the sands of time. 😂
@@ll2323- LOL
@@ll2323- I got these BEAUTIFUL handmade mugs, as well as a little coffee drip cup that sits perfectly on top of each one, when I lived in Washington.
They are sturdy enough to even freeze in the freezer, for cold drinks.
And they aren’t painted - the colors are worked into the clay.
I paid less than $35 for each piece.
Perhaps around $100-ish for two mugs and two drip coffee saucers.
And I ended up buying a huge “man’s mug” (beer stein-style) that matches everything, perfectly - for not much more, if more, than the other mugs.
And I thought the prices were rather reasonable, for what I had purchased.
I couldn’t imagine buying a mug, that is a standard mold - that is exactly like the ceramic pieces One could purchase, when going to those “paint-it-yourself” ceramic activity places - for freakin’ nearly $100USD.
And the thing is..
It wouldn’t even be that difficult for her to create her own molds, of basic cups, either.
Even if her own handmade mold was incredibly similar to the mass-produced ones - I’d give her more credit, and could potentially see her charging a bit of a higher price (still not $100, however).
I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO I SEE SO MANY PEOPLE ON TIK TOK OVER-PRICING THEIR SMALL BUSINESSES 😭😭
Same
its overpriced when it doesn't sell, she sells a lot, people are willing to pay.
Soph was not forced to make that purchase.
HOWEVER if the creator kept her mouth shut and privately offered Soph a refund then there wouldn't be much drama
She didn’t see the price
She didn’t have to buy it but she did because she felt bad, she didn’t know it was going to start drama bcs she didn’t even name the business or anything (not hating on yur comment)
8:00 she did offer a refund
Why would any cup be $150 in the first place?
Because it's a one of a kind piece of art.
That cup better be able to refill itself for that price
@@lisajosskixassbe so real
@@lisajosskixasseven if that’s the case you better be a brand name for $150
@@lisajosskixassit’s literally a ceramic mould..
Shelby claims those mugs are for disabled people but then charges over $100 for one? It's not very accessible in that case.
I don't think Sophie is being dramatic when she made her response video. Shelby literally made a video trying to drag her for what she said but if Shelby never opened her mouth none of this would be going on. No one even knew where the mug was from until then so Shelby is beyond ridiculous and Sophie was just trying to clear her name.
Also, shelbys using molds for her products so how original is that really? Other creators who hand make these items charge like 4x less. All she does is pour the mixture, let it dry, and paint. Smh
Exactly. If it was accessible, it wouldn't be that price.
Yeah I was wondering the same thing, if she hadn’t made a response video would any of this really be happening…
@@EmelyPhan no, a cup is not like meds. You do not need a cup to survive. It is "luxury" option of something that also exists in affordable price point.
but her video was petty as hell.
Empty headed logic here. A cup isn't a medical necessity; a handcrafted piece of artisan craftwork isn't a medical necessity. Trying to make things like this that are so clearly NOT ABOUT ABLEISM into ableism is why people laugh in our faces when we try to push actual reform. Grow up.
My electric bill is $150 😂 NEVER would i sepend $150 on a cup that could break or chip, just like anyother walmart mug 😂
Racemixer 🤢
They can charge what they want, but people don't need to buy it. At one point they'll realize how insane it is lol
Exactly
150 for a cup is insane but still she shouldn't have bought it if she didn't like it or thought was way to expensive for her.
She didn’t rly attack or call out anybody tho
That's true. Even though Soph would have felt bad for changing her mind,... then feel bad. But don't spend $125 bucks on a child size mug. That's ridiculous on both of them. The pricing and going through with the purchase on your card.
yeah guilt buying is pathetic. I’d be damned wasting my hard earned money just because i feel too guilty to pay a price i was not expecting.
@@imaduck2176that’s what I was thinking
She could have told it as a learning experience and focused on her own issues with saying 'no' in an awkward situation instead. Rather than making it about the mug being overpriced. That way, it might actually have been an interesting and helpful conversation.
Especially for her (young) target audience.
But not having the character strength (or whatever you want to call it) to say 'no', despite it feeling awkward or embarrassing and then blaming the other person for overcharging you is just not a good solution. Because if you don't accept your share of responsibility for the problem, you'll never grow and learn to deal with this kind of situation in a better way. And good luck negotiating contracts and wages or making major purchases like a car, in the future.
As a aussie who has watched these 2 from the start, Shelbys attitude leaves SO much to be desired!! Us aussies are done w her after this. Those prices are INSANE even for handmade mugs! (MADE FROM A MOULD). Charging people $150 with disabilities for these types of cups that are designed FOR them, IS shady and predatory imo. Preying on the pockets of the disabled = the most unaustralian thing
My mom has a small business and works SO hard!she charges a bit extra but $120 for a sippy cup is insane
I consider myself a mug collector and out of my 100 my most expensive was maybe like a 50$ SET 😭 86$ is A LOT for a SINGLE MUG that’s not even luxury or high quality. Like I’ll pay 100$ for Villeroy & Boch, at least I know I’m getting my worth
this cup better make me fly
I second that.. let's please stop telling small businesses they can price things as high as they want because they're a small buisness. The lady who bought that high priced mug didn't even say her name or ger business name. Can we say attention seeking?
i can see why she sold it at that price, art stuff is expensive, but if she only made it cheaper then more people would buy it and she could regain that money
I've heard of this drama and tbh it's insane
I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again, 120 for a mug is ridiculous!! Not even Starbucks charges that much for a mug
Gross of her to claim its a dignity mug, as someone with a disability i would NEVER buy a ceramic mug. All of my dishes and mugs are plastic so i dont BREAK THEM😂
81 usd is insane. I understand it takes a while to make, it’s a lot of money towards supplies but at most 40 is a reasonable price 😭
For that price she should have a set a six at the minimum with the plates/ saucers, to go underneath them some tea, spoons with coffee and tea and don’t forget some cookies and crackers 😂😂
THATS stupidly expensive😭
honestly soph deserves to be mad, she didnt even bring any dirt to her brand. and the fact people are js dissing her and dragging her name for it is so pathetic
Omfg what is up with the cups, Stanley now this, like can we stop overpricing cups, THEY FOR HYDRATION 😭🤦🏽♀️
The disability card is craazzzzyyy omllll 🥲
Sounds like she is trying to ride the Stanley cup train… overpriced cups
Fr- and it’s not even as big, durable for that piece so- that’s worse
💯 correct
I bet thé second u bounce a little in the table it shatters 💀
Man i could have bought my whole closet for 150 , imagine 150 for a CUP AND IT NOT EVEN COMPLETLY HANDMADE 😮
Wait, wait, wait, the cup isn’t even 100% handmade?!
@@ThePinkCraftyUnicorn ya she buys cheap mold molds it on the spiny thing and paints and glazes that's it she literally does like 40% of the handmade thing when there are actual people who handmade the mold and everything
@@Ur.fav.pookie-12 well it is still handmade since there is no machines involved. It is simplified, sure, not hard time consuming labour, sure but still handmade
@@marvahinspace I know, I didn't say it wasn't I just said it's not 100% handmade and why it's not.
I used to fire and glaze for artists... that part alone is mad expensive. Unfortunately, that price isn't crazy, esp if she isn't outsourcing for scale.
The thing is... that is what a free market it. If you don't want it, don't buy it? If no one buys, she will be forced to lower the price. This video is kind of a mess.
@@amandamarissaparisThe whole point of this is that the mug making lady didn't have to open her mouth. She tried to drag a customer who didn't even say anything against her.
Its 2024 and we are having drama about a mug
It keeps getting more snd more pitier 😂
Fr
Those mugs better be made out of gold 😂
They are cute but if I am going to spend that much money, I would be buying a Funko Pop figure instead.
A creator has the right to charge whatever they want for what they are selling.
However, BE UPFRONT WITH YOUR PRICES. Make it CRYSTAL CLEAR the prices of the items you are selling.
Finally since that customer is that dissatisfied, I would offer her a credit for the price of the mug with your shop so she can get something she likes better and she can keep the mug.
My question is if it’s made for it to potentially benefit and help people with needs why is it so expensive like …. Make it make sense 💀💀💀💀
We’re living in a time where people casually drop money like there’s no tomorrow. Like can they pls donate… to me?
I don’t know why people are being so angry, bossupcosmetics are selling cups for 300$ and nobody cares
At least their cups have worth and are a bigger size
they range $10-$32 USD 🙏 and hand made bruh
edit: i forgot about the stanley’s, she made a breakdown video
Bossup cup is decorated stanley with crystal. Stanley is already expensive + crystal is expensive + gluing it on is manual labor.
Shelby mug = pour mold that’s not even she made, then paint. Done.
Context is important. I’m not defending bossup, not their fan or ever bought anything from them and dont have any plan to buy anything from them. But again: context, dont just leave statement without context.
@@melovetolaugh6417 sorry i didnt know 😭
for a mug? thats just insane
New Game: take a shot every time you hear "small business" LOL
Any real business owner knows that u add the charges of materials +10/20 dollars more for profit to rebuy the materials to create more .. that’s how it works not… 15$ worth of materials .. 10$ for time and 130$ for profit ? A appropriate price for that mug for all the works n bla bla 45-65$
Oop
150 dollars? Ridiculous
Why price it high when it could help people with disabilities 🤷♀️ just a thought
She's trying to throw disabled people into the situation as if we're not gonna wonder why she's upcharging disabled people so much lol she shoulda just took that L in silence.
When I went to the shore, I picked out (not a lot) of candy and, after ringing it up, the employee told me it was $50. I absolutely had the choice to tell them I didn't want it. I thought about it, but I felt awkward and paid, way too much money for what wasn't even $20 of candy elsewhere. They say instead of getting mad you when you let people overstep your boundaries, take it as a learning experience for next time. I don't think OP did anything wrong by posting, but the self-righteousness people have on her behalf is too much.
Honestly, I think something like that has happened to all of us, at some point. The whole 'too embarrassed to back out' thingy. It gets even worse, when you have a kid with you and have to navigate the whole 'it's because the thing isn't worth it, not because *you* aren't worth it' aspect.
And there's not even always a right or wrong answer. Sometimes, the overall experience is worth spending more on 'the thing'. Touristy stuff, Christmas markets, romantic dates... you'll always overpay there for food and drinks and little trinkets, but you also (hopefully) make good memories in the process.
arguing over a cup lmaoo this is hilarious.
Her saying this expensive mug is for disabled people irks me. I work as a nurse and we use mostly handycups. I can buy a handycup for €15 - €25 ($16 - $27). Also, her mugs have no lid and I believe they are ceramic? That may be to heavy for some. There's a good chance they fall, shatter and maybe hurt someone. Not very disabled friendly.
She may have ruined her own business.
I would’ve even pay $20 for that tiny mug. $81 USD is absolutely insane
I'm sorry, I understand that handmade things are going to be more expensive, but it feels so scummy and wrong to upcharge that much because you're a 'small business' it feels like some people are just using that label to rip people off
LMAO I cackled at you saying you can’t afford that mug with the following you have a UA-cam please😂😂😂😂😂
A cup that much better earn its keep store your clothes or take out the garbage... that had me weak but is soooo true
$150 for a cup that u are just going to have as decor for ur dusty cabnit?
With that money you could buy over 30 mugs that are cheaper and quality worth and quantity
no matter how nice the cup is and how long it took to make idc im not paying 150 💀
The fact that she's like let me know any other tiktok drama you wanna discuss in the comments but never actually reads the comments is just so hilarious to me 🤣
Small businesses have become delusional, they should go back to the non-profit blueprint, because they have clearly abused their profit-now road map.
Just as you said girlie, The small business owners entitlement needs to be addressed
I am sooo confused like 150 for a mug like I can’t think whatttt…. It’s insane 😮
Bruh that mig should be able to pay rent at that price 😐
Price at least 20$😂
Agreed
Umm, a disabled person that can't use a one handled mug is probably not wanting to invest $125 in a mug they may break.
nah thats insane!! i sell jewelry that i hand make and i price it fairly and still dont get sales why tf do these ppl always get so successful 🙄 yeah im jealous 🤭
Soph tried to support but she got ripped off. Idc but yeah this why someone like me is cheap and only buys things on discount.
True
Wait if it’s for people with disabilities then why is it made out of glass?? And if this is really the case why not explain to Sophie the meaning of cup not just charge her a crazy amount.
Exactly & disability ppl can’t afford that
That pricing is definitely unreasonable. Her entitlement as a small business owner is astonishing, and her markup is excessive. I'm currently in business school, and I know that while production costs may have increased, they haven't risen as much as people believe. It seems more like price gouging.
2:41 even anna was speechless 😭
Nah cuz the gaslighting actually was crazy. It was literally so obvious she was trying to make her feel bad. Plus it was unnecessary to make a vid back to Soph, Soph never said anything bad she just spoke out the truth? Shelby’s freaking weirdddd
Anna… girl… you have 2 million followers!! How the hell are you broke? 😅
2.16M
Plot twist they stage this whole thing so that they could both benefit from this drama. That seems to be the new trend on TikTok faking drama to get more likes and more followers and more views.
I can't believe that i am sitting here because of that little expensive cup drama 🙄
Simple solution…. Buy the product you want somewhere else that’s within your budget. On TikTok you’re paying for the fact it comes from the TikToker… not the quality of the item
the whole vid i was jus tryna figure out how soph is so pretty?!?!?!??!?!
Rlly dude 😑
hey Anna ik you will never see this but honestly I love you so much you saved me. not just for spilling all the tea but also for pulling me out of the dark hole of depression. I love watching you expose new ppl and it lights up my whole day when you post I love you💕
Can I suggest the ACOTAR series? Helped me get out of a slump and it’s such a good story.
Oh my god this comment is so real. Literally a 10000/10 book series.
I’d pay 125$ for a cup of toMateO soup.
Hey Anna!!! I love your vids and just wanted to say thank you for constantly keeping us informed on all the drama! I don’t have social media but your videos help me keep up with everything messy and controversial going on today! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow i used to watch her yt shorts of her mugs being made, didn't except to see her in this drama and had no idea how much her mugs costs.
Anyone can make a ceramic cup... come on now. Girl bye.
I own a "small business". I make Natural, Organic, Vegan, Clean Burning Massage/Lotion candles & custom made Natural, Organic, and Vegan Skin Care and Hair Care. ALL HAND MADE BY ME. I keep my prices as low as possible. one, I refuse to rip people off, and two because I compete with others prices and I'm LOWER on purpose, while still making a profit after over head.. sounds to me she's just not good with numbers. Charging that kind of price and making excuses for poor behavior? *hand slap* "bad"
Wait Anna oop I think you can afford it. You have 2 million followers
Thank you!! She's pissing me off, she literally said "us normal people that work at gas stations can't afford it" like b**** you have over 2 million followers don't talk like you're broke like the rest of us😂
if its for people who need it why so expensive they can't even work well??? Exactly.
$81 USD is reasonable for a handmade, handpainted pottery IMHO
I’m literally starting a reptile business and i literally plan to have both high-end reptiles and affordable pets and bundles because as someone who’s spent thousands on reptiles i know how expensive it can be and want to give people the opportunity to get a reptile without losing an arm and a leg.
You should def be able to achieve this goal. As a business owner you give your clients the benefit of doubt and making sure they have all the essential items they may need for the price and quality that they will be paying for. We need more people in business that think like you.
they like fighting over a mug all i need is a place to sleep and food and they want a litte mug 😂
Nah instead of getting an acutal job people want to sell over priced cups
YOU GOTTA TALK ABOUT THE NEW ZOE LAVERNE DRAMA PLEASE🙏🙏🙏
That's the kind of cup I'll put my mini cactuses into, and not for drinking. It's too small to be satisfying
Way too much money for a fracking cup damn my parents would kill me if I asked to buy that cup
As someone who loves to go to markets I often don’t look at the price of things and just go “oh that so cute I’m going to get that” so I agree with Sof on this one and most businesses in markets done put price tags on things anymore
as a small business owner myself, you charge what youre worth! but $81 for a small mug like that is INSANE! thats why with my shop, i try my best to charge what i feel like im worth but also affordable for customers to buy!
A fool with his money shall soon part
If you like the cup get it, if you don’t cause it’s expensive then don’t .
It’s really THAT simple
You want handmade products you pay for it 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
WAKEUP ANNA POSTED
In 2024 the drama has started big time.😀😀😀😀.
Its giving Stanley 🙄(btw I love ur vids)
Shout out to Haylo Hayley for giving me details and Anna for giving me more
I find that a lot of small businesses charge way to much. I was on a market on PEI and I loved this mug I’d seen and ask how much. I couldn’t believe it over 100. Canadian. Got one almost the same for 10.00.
This is like a Stanley cup like a Stanley cup is 40 or 35 dollars
Edit:Thanks I never got higher then 1 like!
Soph is right , $150 for a cup ,
I could see it being 30-40 bucks even 50 if its hand painted too and one of a kind because its completely hand made and be a collectors peice like art but that price is insane and without marketing it as a high priced art peice is a little sneaky too
If the woman bought it, it's her fault though, there is no excuse here. Don't buy stuff that you can't afford and then complain about it. Like yes the price is too high for my taste as well but it is not like she put a gun to her head to buy it, she could have just asked for the price and the moment she heard it, she should have give it back, i wouldn't care about guilt tripping at all. Like why do people feel nervous or even embarrassed about refusing to buy something. But yes both influencers with their videos didn't handled it well.. the women who did these mugs created a bad image for herself, she has to deal with it now.
