This is why I want Grant to get the flying siege tanks. He loves tanks. He loves blowing up bases. So tanks that fly around to blow up bases should make him very happy.
I don't think grant can get that hero, it cost to much. You have to know exactly what you are doing if you want to train it and still win.
Unless it's Grumpy Grant as a result of a cavalcade of stupid game things happening all at once. Then it's funny.
Haven't forgotten that safe haven deal grant, you bet I'll be watching the whole thing. Best of luck beating it without losing your sanity
They're always fun to watch so I don't know why anyone would skip missions.

But silently, give no view if it is less than stellar. Probably came for the gameplay but not for Grant.

It's unfathomable to me how your biggest problem in this mission was not being able to immediately get that last research. Even while watching I didn't see how you managed to get through the constant onslaught...

Drop pods land wherever you tell them to and troopers are cheap ^^
Grant, just some info, the fusion core have an upgrade for the blimp, you built it but forgot to check it, which is understandable considering the mission you were playing just be mindfull in the future, that upgrade helps a lot.
Thank you Grants for a double bonus ending for the train episode.

I'm kind of happy you went back and did it-as you said, it was an easy fix, and was just an honest mistake!
Definitely think not going for all objectives is a pain but I am not surprised with all the chaos.

Hey grant, around5:57 I notedcist that your money jumped a lot more then it should from mining and saw your dogs of war picking up pickups. The ones they grabed went to you so I thought to let you know. I think this will be great for that misstion on the flame planet for getting pick ups that arnt worth risking your units getting.
Happens in coop with Mira/Horner salvage too.
After the "If you want to skip the last few minutes of this video, it's fine." I was really expecting it to be immediately followed by "So long as you remember the deal."

Those Diamondbacks are bananas.
They have the Lock-on from the Cyclone, a mini-Yamato on a short cooldown, Splash damage (which, if I'm reading it right, should also apply to both those abilities), and the grounding ability from the Infested Diamondback. Granted, you kind of need all that with how aggressive the AI is, but still.
A ~better~ version of the infested Diamondback's grounding, since it hits two targets.
It's technically the grounding ability of Vega from tychus in coop, but with 2 targets instead of 5
If Safe Haven takes over an hour, I _will_ fully watch it, but I can't guarantee I'll have the time for it immediately, so don't be disappointed with your analytics until you've given us at least a week.

Thing about safe haven is that I think most people who played it want you to also suffer and feel their pain.
Can't help but think marine/medic would be really good as a frontline for this mission with just the 6 findable diamondbacks. Combat shields neutralize aoe, which is tanks, seeker missiles, and all forms of fire damage, they have good hp, and theta healing is crazy. With railguns, they have solid burst dps and they have free healing which is where a huge chunk of minerals went, and healing time was the reason most of the elites that died died. Just never being healed because it takes so long and pathing has to happen.
Nice thing about this mission is that the highly aggressive AI feeds *a lot* of xp. You *can* marine-medic, but going heavier units can still level up to competitive levels. I definitely felt like a couple of siege tanks or missile troops would have made a huge difference to Grants play (potentially, as I am fully aware those were not available in his run).
I personally played this and when making bio troops they were killed so fast. The Red Adder is absolutely the way to go.

Time for missile trooper bunkers, unless Grant wants to suffer to the maximum. Hands down the best AA in the game. Cant be vortexed either.
Grant is like one-punch man , normally just goofing around, but one-shot supposedly hard mission while in serious mode.
dropping a squad of soldiers to pick up gas and immediately get blasted by two battlecruisers? Now that feels like a Mengsk move.

The Fact that you have so much Minable Money makes it in my opinion easyer that the Base Nightmare difficulty but Grant made it look easy as well :D
I completely agree with the dev, this was one of the hardest missions. Managing where the enemy can go is absolutely the best way to play the mission. Otherwise with like 5 enemy bases they rapidly rebuild bunkers and siege tanks.
I also understand why we got the blimp, but it’s so slow that it fails as a detector, there were cloaked units.

With how Raynor kept doing the "we've gotta take 'em out or they'll keep dropping troops line" I'm going to assume that Grant was missing some trigger the mod added that was making the AI go absolutely insane on those northern tracks.
It's probably because AI was trying to get a set number of units in a certain area but since grant was killing them as they came it was getting replaced non stop
(It was probably more than one area since grant was keeping both the left and right side of the barricade clean)
No, that trigger is a drop warning, every time it did the AI sent dropships to his mineral line, but since the north one had a fortress and the south had missile turrets and bunkers most drops were being destroyed before doing damage

You did drop on the last Defiler, but either it wasn't close enough somehow (maybe rallying directly on it put the trooper on the edge of it rather than within the hitbox?) or it got killed in the picosecond it would've taken to actually trigger the pickup.
Edit: nvm, you did go back. Didn't expect the last two minutes being you going back to get the last bone sample. But yeah, you dropped a guy and he died 2fast4pickup.
I am watching till the very end to show comitment to watching the 7 hour vod that will be safe haven :)

Outside of The Great Train Robbery, I have never produced nor used diamondbacks.
Wow the pressure on this mission feels a bit over tuned. Makes the victory all the more impressive, though, well played! I'm interested and terrified to see how cranked up Safe Haven is going to be.
The nice thing about that pressure is that it's a constant drip-feed of xp to level up your Royal Guard.
The *weird* thing about the Mengsk campaign is that you *miss* pressure when it doesn't exist.

Goes out of the way to use drop pods for bonus objectives but forgets to get the last of either of them, and got neither in the end.
The regenerative biosteel variant that this mod has really saved my ass on this mission.

Did...did Grant even realize he had Royal Guard marauders, despite not having done Smash and Grab ? I'm at three minutes and he still hasn't realized XD

Funny how the difficulty of the mission really depends on the order you do it in.
I did it after "The Dig" and had a couple of shock divisions on each track with 3-4 bunkers and a couple of missile turrets which basically invalidated the enemy's ability to move around (or build anything, in a huge area.
And yes, drop-pods do invalidate having the secondary moved around.
As hard as this was, I'd say Grant did well. Round of applause to Grant and a moment of silence for the fallen and the loss of the Defiler bone.
Words cannot express how much i want to see these Diamondbacks on something like shatter the sky or gates of hell. They are just incredible looking. The splash, the lock on, the grounding ability, the ridiculous alpha strike ability, it's just incredible.
Tis a shame the hellions are a pain to micro with them, because of the speed difference.
There was an upg for blimp in fusion core, right? If I remember it correctly it will give more mandate

We never got to see the upgrades in the fusion core. There should be one for “amplified airwaves” to double the imperial mandate from the blimps.

12:50 - The 170 supply drops to 140 after the first Marauder Kill-squad is down, mostly from lost 2-star Red Adders. Truly a Nightmare Wingsk of Mengsk experience!
It felt like this mission had way more minerals than usual, it could also be that your units were more vespene heavy tho

I playedthorugh this entire mod twice in last year, and I don't recall this mission beeing any specialy difficult ( unlike few others ). Granted, I played on normal, but this mod can be quite brutal even there.
I played this before you grant. I went full infantry instead because medics were good and didnt steal all my resources to heal.

Dayum, this mod looks so interesting, it's like expanded co-op Mengsk, with much more units and features, can't wait for your next video about it. Do you get Earthsplitter Ordnance too ? I think that would be op :D
Earthsplitter is a Lab tech tree option/upgrade
@@firedrake110 it's one of *two* final options on the Zerg side of the tree - it's mutually exclusive with p3 guns-are-now-bombs, IIRC.
Hey grant think you could do another rts game called command and conquer red alert 3 and uprising you’ll would find the game enjoyable it’s like StarCraft as well hope you’ll give it a try in the future ^^
The two defieler bones are basically in the bases on the sides.
The lack of blimp upgrade makes the little part of my brain that pushed me to play him scream in agony
Also didn't you say at the start that the only armory upgrades that work are the orbital center and fire suppression ? (A reminder just in case)

Despite the AI's aggression on this mission, on the bright side it is a whole xp farm for the elite units if your macro went well

The better option would have been firebat, marine, and medic, as this map on Nightmare is almost impossible to do with a reasonable force that is sustainable through Mech, the marines when you have 12 of them, with 5 firebats, a small force of LMG boys, and 6 medics was able to take out BOTH MARAUDER teams at once with only 1 to 2 losses... I microed the firebats to land in the center of the teams to stun more of the marauders at once. The New unit is good... but it's more a support unit.... having 6-7 of them on a train worked good for me,

Man, those Diamondbacks with AOE damage, the ability to knock things out of the sky and the bufffff HP are kinda ridiculous, aren't they?
GGG you did drop all 3, it didnt aknowledge it for the last one
I think is one of those "weird starcraft programing" where the game registered the dropped troop as an enemy for the AI, who shoot it to death, before it checked the item picked up.
Somethimes it has happened to me when I drop marines to get some resources, that they get killed before they get to pick some minerals deffinetly on their hit boxes
