There isn’t one single person in my life that takes me serious when I talk about prepping. They all call me things like “alarmist” “crazy” etc. I’m concerned that no one else around me is getting prepared or even worried about anything that is going on. That bothers me more then people thinking I’m crazy for doing what I can to keep my family safe.
Well, I will say, if you're talking about buying a handful of giant properties for potential bug-out compounds, then maybe, but if you're talking about loading up on a lot of food, water, and tools, and making a pretty serious hobby out of it, I don't see a problem. I always thought it was wise to have a few stockpiles of stuff, then 2020 happened and I got a glimpse of what could have been done better
Don’t share any further info on your peeps, and relocate everything to a place in your home that no visitor, welcomed or otherwise, can see. It’s a safety thing!

IMO: get started with your basic 72hr - 2wks emergency preps. That’s a must have regardless! (FEMA has lists of these recommended supplies.) Then as your continually expanding your supplies, start looking for your MAG. Build relationships with your neighbors, & immediate community. They may not prep but you may rely upon them for community security and other resources in the end.
For water filter you can use 5 gallon buckets and make your own Berkey container if you’re short on funds. And for the Van life you can use the same buckets to storing things until you need the filtration.
Thanks for mentioning bows and considering other nations. I live in one such nation and have an assortment of bows and crossbows as well as a sturdy Slingshot. "Slingshots are for kids though!?" You might think, but the reality is, they were man's first ranged weapon that wasn't a throwing spear. It's a sad state of affairs I know, but some nations don't even allow bows, but Slingshots are still allowed. Put aside your preconceptions, I'm not talking some stick with an elastic band either, I'm talking about a modern iteration, made of solid materials and ball bearing ammo. In a pinch you may be able to hunt small birds and rabbits and in the case of ammo, pebbles are always an option. When you have no ranged weaponry and neither does anyone else, even a Slingshot will give you an edge when hunting. On another issue, No matter the weapon, check it regularly and perform maintenance (do so safely) and ensure you have adequate maintenance supplies. If you do buy a bow, obviously you should have plenty of arrows but don't forget spare strings. When buying bows you should consult your countries laws before buying and consult your countries laws with regard to carrying bows in public. Firearms or laws relating to them tend to be better known but Bows etc have their own, some are quirky, for example, some countries forbid bows being strung until you are at an Archery range and request you cover the bow itself as you put it in your car etc. (A huge pain in the ass) Check your bow strings every so often, I just checked mine today and saw my pistol-style crossbows string had started splaying a few loose threads, enough that it would be dangerous to use, so I need a replacement. Bow's that are strung should be periodically waxed with bow wax and bows with moving parts oiled (cams etc) If you are new, one other thing to remember is to never dry fire a bow, as it damages the string and as with all ranged weaponary, take all appropriate safety measures before shooting or during maintenance- a taught bow string is a dangerous thing too if it snaps or comes loose.
ALSO: I have used brass, steel, & aluminum cased ammo. I have NOT had issues with any of them. I use hollow point frangible rounds for self defense, for my carry ( I want good target isolation, but worry less about over penetration). But it’s expensive. FMJ target ammo is still deadly and will do the job, so I stock up on these for all my target, and general purpose needs. And buy 1 or a few boxes of ammo every pay check or once a month. Before you know it you will have a decent amount stored up.
I live in Edgefield which is like 2- 2 1/2 hrs from Greenville,SC. Been here since Xmas 1998. But I grew up in TAMPA, FL. & was visiting family during the ‘04 or ‘05 hurricane season. FL gets hit at least 1 -2 times a yr with at least a tropical storm. That yr it was no less than 6 hurricanes & 4 of them instead of hitting on 1 coast crossing to the other, hit on the south end & went straight up the middle affecting the entire state. I also was still living there & worked during & the aftermath of ANDREW back in ‘93 a CAT 5 hurricane that DEVASTATED the entire Miami-Dade area the Homestead AFB almost the entire southern tip of FL. I also seen NOLA just after Katrina, the only thing that made that nearly as bad was the Levi’s breaking… but your learn to be prepared for at least 72 hrs to a wk or 2 dealing with and experiencing those things.

Cell service is a good indicator of the extent of a power outage. If the power is out but still have cell service, no big deal. If there is no cell signal, than you know there is a bigger problem and it's time to grab the emergency radio. Trust this from someone who lived through the 2003 northeast blackout.
I'm assuming 2 way radios would be good to have for communication between family members if cell phones are out. I'd be curious of recommendations for those
@@TJ_in_GA If you are talking about the small ones (FRS) that you can get at places like sporting good stores, these have a limited range, usually line of site. When they say things like "Good up to 5 miles" this is only line of site, buildings, hills and such will decrease the range. Motorola is a good one for this. You can get higher power FRS radios, these will reach a little further. If you want further distances, then you need to look into armature radio, however, you need to be licensed to transmit with them. However, it is not too difficult to pass the test for it.
@Bruce S thank you for the info. I'm starting small and picked up some midlands that say 36 miles, but like you said that's line of site. Hopefully they will do ok for short distances in a pinch. I'll keep the other type you mentioned in mind for an upgrade.

Choose unscented bleach. One drop of bleach per gallon of water you want treated. If it has a bleach taste just let the treated water sit open to the air for 2 - 3 hours. This method works fine. It's the same as the boy scouts are trained to do.

Same with a bike they came in a van gave £2 and went off laughing their heads off and high fives
Famine in California? We have a drought, but this is the first I've heard of famine. Please clarify.
If you don't servive the first 48 hours of a crisis, your odds of surviving go down.
if you don't survive the first 48 hour, you are dead, your odds of surviving are 0 dont you think, my friend? please explain your comment, thanks.
@@DrSchor SP said in the video that if you survive the first 48 hours of a disaster, your odds of survival go up.
Is Robbie okay? Yellowstone is closed down due to flooding!
Good post !
have ever tried to start a fire with one of those electronic
rechargeable lighter? I have one. I think it is called an atomic lighter.
Get terra cotta (inner old school) flowerpots, they make great cheap waterfilters.
Can you share that one?
@@Kristin5059 I just did. :))

I could not carry a tent a bag or case and walk with it all no veichle
Good video
Water is heavier than oil
The volume on Sarah Mac is always to low. You need to add a microphone for her.
I have two i.Sound 16,000 mAh portable back up power packs. They have lasted over ten years and are still working great. They are 60 Wh Lithium Polymer batteries.
Do you have a link / discount code for the Berkey system? Couldn’t find one.
Great show Sooch. Why don't you use steel wool in your fire starter packs?
Re: AA AAA, C and D batteries. Get some rechargeable batteries in bulk, and a solar battery charger. Or a solar battery that runs non-solar battery chargers.
Silver and gold then get cheated when you resell been there in the past! Known a piece was worth £100 and they say No no it's only worth 50p but look ill give you £2 and spin the tale of the gold and silver Market being right down. Then go to the Jewelers and see the item in the window for £150
👌
I’ve always heard society/civility doesn’t start breaking down until around 72hrs. Does that 48hr mark start after the initial 72hrs?
To the new father to be, could be a boy or a girl and you may already know. Either way, teach them to stay faithful to their gender no matter how they feel about it:) LOL!
Lastly, they grow up extremely fast too take it to heart and spend as much time as you can every day. It gets mundane at times, but that baby will be a toddler, little kid, big kid, teenager, 18-years-old in the blink of an eye at each stage.. HA!
Have to have a licence for a firearm and as of yet in UK thankfully we are not allowed or people would run rampant trying to copy the ganes they've watched
How do I find a prepper group near me? I live down the road in Hollywood,SC.
I am looking for a tactical pouch for type 2 diabetic???? Any suggestions
Id be ashamed to promote sportmans guide in my videos. Worst customer service and all around worst store on the net. The were great 10 years ago but the company is a complete joke now! They backordered something that was in stock and failed to email or call me for 6 months. I couldnt get a real person on the phone or by email and never got a refund. Had to get my bank involved.
I have never tried bleaching my water and curious if you or anyone out there can provide some feedback on their experience. Thanks!
Trump said inject it
Choose unscented bleach.
One drop of bleach per gallon of water you want treated.
If it has a bleach taste just let the treated water sit open to the air for 2 - 3 hours. This method works fine. It's the same as the boy scouts are trained to do.
You can take a aluminum can and rip it in half and make a weapon
To cut yourself, i guess
Cans last most of your life so get plenty I don't can't afford to! but get loads and eat other perishables first
Question do you know where I can find strike anywhere kitchen matches?
Amazon
I have found them at Walmart and at Kroger. I think I had to look in the camping supplies though, not in the kitchen or barbecue supplies.
I got mine at my patriot supply.
@@johnny56g Thanks.
@@nmr6988 The Walmart store here near me stopped carrying them about 4 years ago in the store!
They should teach you all this useful stuff at school instead of useless algebra and Latin
I struggle most with canned (except tuna) or potted meat. I would probably eat it if I was starving but to eat it on a regular basis to make sure we were rotating our stock, Nope. I don't know how to fix that. Any suggestions?
You can mix it in with other items. For instance make some seasoned rice and add the meat to it. Or add it to Ramin noodles.

If I use my Berkey daily... Before shtf. Do I need to add anything to it for minerals...?
Someone needs to come up with a quick anagram for basic survival like water weapons and commutation? Idk just for a example
help me understand, why would you want to scramble your basic survival. thanks for explaining, my friend
I am a Biden supporter and still find this info helpful. I’m not into conspiracy theory and don’t think the Democrats, of which I am one, are out to destroy the world. Lol. For me it goes beyond politics into a possible future where the skills for survival are necessary. Very much enjoy watching this site.
Channel is getting repetitive..
This channel has it's called like a Studebaker. Give us something new. Something we can build on. Each week it's the same old spiel.
