I love Reddit's guesses about what the switch does. "It causes cancer in a local high school chemistry teacher", "it fucks ted", "It sends EMF waves into Chuck's head", and "It’s literally Kafkaesque."
But what I agree is the real answer, it's just a light in another room or something irrelevant like that. The point of the switch is to show that Jimmy can't resist messing with things when told not to - and it's a stark comparison to his future self who is terrified to open an emergency door because of the potential of the police showing up to talk to him.
You are dumb if you think it's just a light. It's obviously something important or dangerous otherwise it wouldn't be taped and have a warning. It could be an incinerator for garbage that can burn people or it's a fumigator that releases gasses to kill bugs.
I love the symbolism and visual storytelling in this show. Jimmy enters his new lavish office, looks around, and heads straight towards the light switch, the one thing he wasn't supposed to touch. Jimmy gets a new cup, and it fits perfectly into his car's cup-holder, but when he gets the new company car, the cup just won't fit. Jimmy's feelings about his position at Davis & Main are translated through scenes with absolutely no dialogue. Perfect.

What the switch does doesn't matter. The point is that Jimmy/Saul can't help breaking the rules. He can't be that straight and narrow guy that does what he's told. He looked for just a moment like he was going to be able to be that guy, but he can't.

It also shows the juxtaposition of Gene in the future where he wasn't willing to push that button to get help which would have alerted the police. He wasn't willing to risk anything then, but in the past, he couldn't help but break the rules.
THEY DID MAKE THE "SQUAT COBBLER" VIDEO. Vince (or whoever) is known for making cool lore video extras for The Breaking Bad universe like the Los Pollos Hermanos training videos and a music video for Jesse's band. Anyway, they got Mark Proksch (guy who plays Wormald) to do the the "squat cobbler" video. It's an interesting watch, to say the least and he does cry...💀

The cup that Kim gives to Jimmy contains an incredible foreshadowing message. She is indeed the BEST lawyer. Also, she's my favorite character in BCS and my second favorite in the BB/BCS universe after Gus.
Daniel Wormald, the Pie sitter, isn't seen in Breaking Bad, but is mentioned. He is Danny, the guy that owns the Lazer Tag venue that Saul tries to push onto to Walt and Jesse a bunch of times.

I think your first impression of Howard is the same as a lot of people including me. Howard becomes my favorite character by the end of the show even though I expected Mike to hold that spot lol.
You remarked about some of the locations. I’m 99% sure the Cinnabon is actually located in Cottonwood Mall in Albuquerque. I’ve been there many times. The law firm of HHM is actually an office building that has multiple businesses inside. I actually signed the mortgage papers when I sold my house in there. The Lawfirm of Davis and Main isn’t a hotel, it’s actually the Special Collections Library on Central Ave in Albuquerque

That switch was a metaphor for Jimmy’s nature. He’s immediately drawn to the forbidden, to the thing that breaks the rules. It doesn’t matter what it does, not for us, nor for Jimmy. The only characteristic of it that it is a forbidden fruit and that it will mess with people’s livelihoods.

the pie video IS INFACT real, it’s a deleted scene that was included with directors commentary and some additional scenes and BTS footage. I believe it’s on both UA-cam and Reddit and yes it is as funny as it sounded.

I love what that switch represents in his new office. Even though it seems to do nothing its a great little detail that sums up Jimmy. Even though they give him everything he could possibly want, he still can't resist going after the one thing he's told not to.

The switch is a symbol for Jimmy's nature that makes him go against the grain for no good reason. The sign says Do not turn off the switch but Jimmy goes ahead and does it just because that's how he is.

That switch is probably wired to an outlet so you can operate pluggable light fixtures without separate switch . I assume that someone before Jimmy ised this outlet to power a printer or something like that

I like how in the first Episode the beginning of Gene bein stuck in the Room not using the switch to get out of the room mirrors the final shot of Jimmy turning the Switch for absolutely no reason. I really changed how much he changed since back then. Not without any care to super paranoid.

I love the Squat Cobbler interrogation so much as a piece of great writing. Daniel's so under suspicion (correctly) and Jimmy absolutely distracts the hell out of the cops with the weirdest fucking shit you'd never ever make up if it wasn't true.
If you missed it, that’s the guy (Kevin) whose car Walt lit on fire at the gas station by shorting the battery with the windshield wiper. Also, cobbler is a type of pie. Apple, peach etc.
That annoying guy is the one that in BB took Walt’s parking spot, and then Walt set his car on fire.

Regarding the switch, we don't find out what it does. However, I read somewhere that some offices had this switch so the boss could tell what kind of person they had hired: flipping the switch triggered an alert in the boss's office. Since this is a law office, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here.

Omg you think Kim and Jimmy look to be in their mid 30s?! As someone who’s 33 but hardly sees a difference between me now and mid 20s I WEEP 😅 but the perspective of zoomers might be totally different - I think they look to be in mid 40s (though not a bad thing!) although Bob Odenkirk was already in his mid 50s filming this.
The switch was most likely for a plug in the room. Maybe the computer or printer was hooked up to it.
V.......its THE LAW to keep your registration and proof insurance in the vehicle. You could carry it on your person I suppose. Forgetting it could earn you a ticket. If your car is stolen thats not on you. Thats why the state also keeps both on file.
Not sure where the location they shot the Davis & Main office at, but they did a good job at making sure it looks very "Santa Fe". The capital of New Mexico, Santa Fe, is very big on maintaining buildings that look "traditional southwestern", in fact if you build a new home in Santa Fe, you can't even paint it any other color than a shade of brown. They want to maintain that "adobe brown" look for the whole town. Its kinda ridiculous. Plus its way expensive to live there, cost of living is much higher than it is in Albuquerque.

Misjudging Howard is not something to feel bad about, he is a truly good guy, but not a perfect boss.
He did stand in Jimmy's way, but he did it because he trusted Chuck, who was basically a second father to him, and truth be told, Chuck knew Jimmy very well, but not as well as he thought he did.

I feel like a lot of people have a hard time appreciating the early seasons because they really are just waiting for Saul Goodman. Jimmy is a very interesting character even before that.
The show defied all expectations by making BCS actually about NOT wanting you to see Saul. It’s such a cool twist on the origin story trope. BCS in all is a tragedy

That's what he did by turning down the offer and fooling around ! It was that itching thought to be chaoting. Kim really brought the excitement down.. he was alone.. his old crime partner wasn't there either ! He got bored and flipped back again to accept the offer and try to be in order of world !
