A track near me will be having a special 1/10 scale outdoor race next July, with gas trucks, a vintage 27t brushed or 17.5t brushless , a rear motor 2wd class, and a modern 2wd class. Among other 1/10 classes like 4wd , sct , and so on... I will definitely run "Gas Truck" with an AE converted to Nitro, and I have an Ultima that I don't know if I want to motor down and gear up for vintage, or just run in Rear Motor with it's current 8.5t brushless setup... I really like the looks of this rear motor PR buggy though, and it would work great on our outdoor dirt tracks in my area. Hmmmm....it does look about as top spec as it gets, I have to look up where to get them, and parts, here in the US...
I really like my S1 RM. It is a very good buggy for the money and competitively priced when you compare its spec with that of its main rivals. On the track I found it to be noticeably quicker than both the Dirt Master and Genova. There's a lot of front end grip with the battery in a forward position. Looking forward to seeing how it does at your local circuit! 👍 Whether it, and the DM and Genova like it, are a success depends on RC clubs. If they offer race classes for this new segment of buggy or allow them to run in vintage races, I think they'll do really well. As nice as the S1 RM is, it is at a major disadvantage when trying to compete with modern mid-motor 2WD buggies. Great video as always!
What about on outdoor , dirt tracks, ones with a bit of loose dirt loam in places... I like the full length chassis on this, compared to ones like the RB10 from AE, and Dirtmaster which are plastic tubs like my B4. I might have to build onenof these just for kicks... and to try a "modern" rear motor buggy...
I've thought about buying this buggy and likely will before spring so I can build it for outdoor dirt season. It should be well suited for those conditions. Re-watching a few videos, and I have thought about the nylon nuts, and one thing that popped into mind, that might be a part many replace to use colored or lightweight bling ? cheers!
Its for tracks state side. Our blownout sandy dirt tracks in the shouth east. Rear motor buggies still work better in these conditions. Granted not many people run 2wd outdoors any more.
Built mine at the weekend - usual quality pr build👌🏻 Ran it for the first time last night on carpet with Schumacher honeycomb, lacks a little bit initial steering but other than that I'm impressed. Racing again this Saturday on a 50/50 so looking forward to see how it copes on slippy gym floor
I just ordered one of these last night. I race on an outdoor clay track. Really excited to get this out there. They also make a forward cab body which I plan on ordering.
@@RCKickschannel My track is LOOOSE. We are on an outdoor uncovered track. It's clay yes, but the sun beats it up and we also race everything at my track. 1/8 scale as well so it gets loose and beat up. Rear traction is king at my clubs track.
Its one thing i cant work out, where to run them ? But a few vintage events have a 99 onwards class, for rear motor cars. Its nomally full off B4’s 😂 can see the PR showing up in bigger numbers 😎
@@RCKickschannel think you must be looking in the wrong places, Team Losi cars were very popular BITD, most popular being the 2wd XX or the XXCR & the 4wd XX4 or XX4 WE. Maybe not the cheapest to collect but easy enough to get a hold of. The TLR22 isn't really a Team Losi car, it's all horizon hobby.
Maybe they could run the PRS1RM on a rear motor class [with vintage look]. It's up to the racer if they want to modify their unit. The PRS1RM I think could accept mods from PRS1V3 and V4 but by the end of the day it boils down to driver skills and most of all having fun.
Yep, as you said, it's a modern buggy... with a rear motor. It only has a vintage look thanks to the body and wheels. Maybe a rear motor class instead of vintage ? Anyway, the chassis looks gorgeous, not sold on the body and wheels yet, but probably due to the bland boxart livery. Can't wait to see how you will paint it 😉 Take care and don't push too hard 😊 Oh, what about the BBX ?
I think if anyone runs this in a vintage class they’re just being unfair on others. Like you’ve said, it could open up a new rear motor class. It’s definitely a modern buggy so should be raced against moderns.
The Dirt Master, Grasshopper and a couple of others use nylon/plastic nuts for the shock mounts. I've heard someone say it is to reduce weight higher up and keep the COG low down. Don't know if it's true, or even if it makes much of a difference, but that was one explanation offered. I do know some people run the shocks inverted to keep the weight lower to the ground. So, maybe there's some truth to it! 🤔
Gavin, great build review on what seems to be a promising 2wd rear motor buggy! Based on your review, and David's from Kai City, I purchased one when it came off backorder from PR Racing USA. When will you be putting the electronics in and painting up the body? I'm really looking forward to that episode! Also wanting to see you race the PR S1 RM and the comparisons with the G-Force Genova and Kyosho Dirt Master. I'm planning a HW XR10 with a 17.5T or 13.5T motor - can't make up my mind on how "hot" a motor I want. I enjoy your content, BUT WHEN WILL YOU COMPLETE YOUR PR S1 RM??? ANXIOUSLY AWAITING!!!
Hi, yep sorry for the delay. The buggy is painted and finished weeks ago. I’ve taken it to the track twice but I’ve been fighting electronic issues. I’ve had to remove the ESC and motor and replace them. I’m going racing again in a few weeks so I’ll finally finish that video off.
Thanks, it's been kicking my backside for a week now. Wife got it from work and was kind enough to gift it to me and my Son. He only had it for a day or two and my daughter hasn't picked it up, so I think it's a flu bug as the kids had a flu shot a few weeks ago. On the mend now :)
That looks like a quality kit, much better than the other 2 from what I've seen. Yes, the Dirt Master is cheaper, but it kind of shows, and the Genova is not exactly easy to get hold of in good old Blighty, is it? Personally I'd go for the PR S1 RM if I was to go for one of these. no question. Nice build video!
As always a very informative vid love the vintage/retro stuff thanks for sharing Been waiting for the next Blazing Blazer vid do you have any teasers for us?
Can't wait till mine arrives, I ran pr racing buggies years ago and looking forward to building this, Btw-the prs1rm- kit isn't a new design kit and is based on the old s1v2 kit.😉 Great vid too, looking forward to seeing how you get on racing it.
@@MyFart21 I get what you're saying but I bought the RM specifically to race on low grip and it's really good, if I want to race on carpet I have my high grips car's for that
Yep, see my latest news video for more info 👍🏻 Images finally came out two days ago and it looks amazing. Pictures on the “just for RCKicks” Facebook group.
Love your videos. Do you recommend this to somebody who never done a kit before I've been in the hobby for 5 years now I've done some repairs and parts replacement.
100% super easy one being 2WD and fit and finish is great. Just make sure you order some shock oil, thread lock and diff oil at the same time if you don't have any already :)
Great build video Gavin, hope you feel better soon. A nice looking kit and good quality too, there are some upgrades for the dirt master, shocks and ball diff and universal drive shafts that I know off, I’ve just left mine stock for now not racing it just bashing. I’m liking the PR racing products, hadn’t heard of them until news of this kit became available 😅
Great vid Gavin very informative and helpful for people building this kit in the future.. nice relaxing music to 😊 excellent dude love the channel ❤😃🥇Pete
It's fair to say that the majority of people race retro/iconic cars because of their history and this has none, don't get me wrong it looks like a very nice rear motor 2wd buggy but I still don't see the point other than having a nice kit to build. Rear motor buggies are best suited to low traction conditions
Very cool Gav. I hope you get over that cold real soon. Interesting buggy this one. I have to admit, just like you said, I have no idea where you'd race one of these or the Genova. That wouid also be an issue with the Dirt Master, it's B4 era basically, and I don't think that's vintage era just yet.
Not what you call catchy now is it? What are you driving, a PR S1 RM, really? I have a Thunder Shot and my friend has a new Turbo Optima Mid. LOL. Also if you have to explain it, it's not cool!
@@RCKickschannel Most race buggies don't have names for whatever reason. I think they go with "code names" to differentiate the version or year the kit came out. At least most race kit "names" make sense unlike WL Toys and stuff like that. So it could be way worse telling someone what you race.
@@briana2137 WLToys code names actually are somewhat logical but still not very cool. For example the 124019 (1:12 scale, 4WD, model 019). I mentioned on someone's Facebook post that I nickname this new one the Prism (PR1SM), which I know is wrong but sounds better than some awkward codename, lol
I prefer the rear cockpit buggies they look a bit better, gives it that vintage look of yesteryear. Nice vid Rckicks!
Yeah I agree
Glad there's one more for the category. I hope it continues to grow. Associated needs to release the rb10 with a vintage/retro body.
Looks like they used very high quality parts. I love the therapeutic music 👍!
This is a MUCH better build video than your others since you actually show the build!
Thanks. Always trying to find the balance so I’ll see how the retention ratio is for this video. If it’s higher I will keep this style more.

This buggy seems to be selling out now. The parts are also selling out too. Thoughts?
Good to see it’s getting some traction for PR Racing. It’s a nice fusion of modern chassis aspects and vintage styling
@@RCKickschannel I am having a hard time finding the upgraded parts.
Gav I think the nylon nuts are to help if the car rolls over so if they get damaged they are much easier to get off (I think)
Makes sense I guess but the front face backwards. I’m just a fan of plastic nuts on cars
Or to protect the carpet on the tracks, I’d imagine it was definitely for a reason.
Pr have always used nylon nuts on their shocks for some reason, not sure if they use them on their newer v4 2wd
