Where do you go to repair an rv??
Solution: No slides no problem.
I looked at one but was so cheaply made I passed, looking at cargo van to build out instead
I firmly believe these things are built to self destruct in a very shorty period of time. It keeps the industry in business.
yes theyre so dis honest
Exactly why I decided to stop looking for an RV.
You got it!
Built knowing it is going to fall apart soon.
@@lhitch2900 best thing is to buy a stripped van or bus and build it out yourself...
I found out early on, that the more fancy things you have with your RV, the more that can break and cause problems.
I’ve said that about cars….Dad said that back in 1969 with our “fancy” Mercury Montego station wagon & has shown it is so true! My 2004 Toyota Echo was a basic model, standard transmission & crank windows. Zero problems in the 11.5 years we had it.
@@Elizabeth-rq1vi Very true! I just bought a new 2023 year Tacoma, bare bones SR instead of SR5. Don't need heated seats or push button start or anything else built to fail! I have no doubt I'll get 300,000 miles at least out of it!
As with cars.
I think I would rather convert a van or truck than deal with poor RV quality.
My thoughts exactly.
Or cargo trailer!
Flex armor roof, life time guarantee, no caulk.
So glad I have my simple van. Thanks guys😊
There's a reason vans are so popular.
First and most importantly, they fall under federal vehicle standards. And at 22' or shorter, you can travel or park as a regular passenger vehicle.
Then, if you're smart, experienced, or both, you build it out with a focus on simplicity and low weight.
Hey, didn't she just cover this? Why, yes she did. Anyone in the market should watch that vid until it's drilled into their head.
Since I saw your videos about the problems with your new RV years ago, I told my husband I don’t want a RV. We bought a school bus that he is converting. I trust his handiwork a lot more than the factory’s mess ups.
Please let us see it when you are finished converting the bus. I have a hankering for something like this... :)
I used to run in bus conversions. Ex highway busses. In a hailstorm, or other bad storms, you are sleeping in a steel safe. Very hard to break in to one. That has value.
Stick and staple RVs will never cut it for me again.
I bought a 2016 Tiffin Allegro. So far it's been a brilliant sturdy build with real wood, and reliable. But I do live in it full time. I DO NOT travel full time. I do about 6 months out of the year. So far she's holding together, and I have gotten not just an independent warranty, but also double insurance. It's my home, so that makes it VERY important. I also had it inspected twice by independent inspectors. We shall see how she holds up over the years. I baby her and take GREAT CARE.
I have a van I build myself. I just cannot trust commercial quality these days.
Your hair looks especially fabulous now!!
We looked at dozens 2 years ago. They were poorly made, and more than half had broken parts or broke while we were looking at them. Such a waste of money!! Our friends sold their old one and bought a newer one and regretted it. "They don't make them like they used to" is a very true statement for RVs.
Would have loved to have seen Deb inspect Robin's 5th wheel.
I would never have an RV with slides because I thought they were an invitation for problems.
Deb verified why i dont like or want slides!!!!
I steered away from getting an RV from the start. I knew they weren't meant to be lived in full-time, and that the quality reflects this fact.
Sitting here THANKFUL I Did NOT go the route of a mobile home or an RV to live in when I divorced and was so broke. OMG this has made my mind up ... lol as IF I would have the $$ to even think of buying one ROFLOL. Great Video to open the eyes of all those who needed to see this.
Let's support a woman-run business!! Robin, you always hook us up with the BEST companies. 👍
Your hair gets cuter and cuter. 🙋♀️💜
When I've experienced plywood delamination, I always tear out the old plywood and replace it with new Marine Grade plywood.
Deb's rv services 👍🏼. Hire her for inspecting a new or used rv!
Yeah, just because u bought a new rv doesn't mean it's maintenance free! I've read comments where people wrote just that, thinking their brand new rv is fine n not checking. That's a big no, no.
What's more fearful, getting your butt up on your rv roof to inspect your rv regularly or find out now you've waited too long and water has penetrated inside causing mold, and structural failure? 😱😬. 🍻
I can’t deal with all the upkeep with RV’s, I had a class C RV but I was a younger man back then. Thanks ladies 😊
I agreed with all 3 but there should be a 4th one and that is plumbing, many Rv's are not plumbed properly especially when they use the wrong fitting when connecting pex to a flexible hose type water line, I learned this through I believe the name of the channel is Rigor RV on UA-cam he's an RV Tech and he has videos on a improper and properly plumbed RV, this is just as important as the other three cuz water leaks are your biggest enemy in an RV
I love his channel too and agree!
Slides got the funeral music.🎼 🎶 🎵 Got to do due diligence.
That editing really was great.
Incredibly helpful tips. Can she come back to discuss other issues she sees?
Glad now that my ex husband refused to let me have the older and used rv that used to belong to my elderly grandfather and he didn’t maintain the thing routinely.
I watched a lot of videos, especially yours and Bob Wells’, and decided early on that RVs can be constant trouble. Plus, it can take months to get a dealer to make repairs! Nope-my van is old, but finding a mechanic isn’t hard.
We feel very lucky to have found a 2016 Coachmen last year that is still in excellent condition. It had less that 10k miles on it. We had it inspected before we bought it, for sure.
They were made a lot better before covid, stay away from anything in that time period!
Agree, us too. We also bought a used 2018 Coachman Clipper and it's been good to us so far!
I just bought a 2018 Coachman Ultralight & love it. Found a water leak stain later to side of the slide but the previous owner must have fixed it bc we had torrential rains since then & no leaks noted. 🙏🏻 it doesn’t! It’s all I have to call home for now. Accident changed my life forever & lost all I had to medical & surgical bills, etc until SS kicked in @ 62 & Medicare at 65! Some of us disabled & broke now can’t be choosy or get up on or under a RV/TT. 😢 No golden years here…
Slides are the worst. I will never own an RV with them. I live in a rainforest zone. Slides are notorious for leaking here.
RVs built in Elkhart use Amish piecework labor. A woman who used to visit these facilities said the workers were literally running in the factory to make as much product as possible. Slap-dash. Cheap construction!
I would go with a converted utility van or truck!
So happy to see Deb on your channel... I follow Deb's channel ✌☮
I'm an EternaBond fan. When I bought my used Class C 10 years ago it had some roof leaks (skylight and front seam), which I repaired with EternaBond, and liked it so well that I decided to pre-emptively tape up the whole coach -- every major seam on roof and sides, and have had zero leaks. I use Meguiar's one-step fiberglass conditioner and cleaner on the exterior every couple of years, and especially during the wet season I make sure to open & ventilate all closed spaces often because condensation. Damp-Rid helps with this as well.
No slides, no worries.
An RV will last 5 times longer if it is stored inside a weatherproof unheated shed so it is out of the sun and elements. This works for cars and trucks too. I own an 83 lincoln continental in excellent condition because it has always been parked in a garage. Kept out of the sun here in lethbridge alberta canada the vinyl roof is still excellent.
When my father was in his 80’s he had a similar car and it was like a tank! He drove from the East coast to Arizona to stay for a few winters and then back east in the spring. Guzzled gas like crazy!
Can’t see the point of an RV if it is just sitting in a shed
One of the best information video I have ever seen! Keep up the good work.
You two girls are having WAY too much fun!
Another thing if you are buying privately. If it is sitting outside on gravel/grass, DON’T BUY IT. Could mean serious rust issues.
I'm just here to say that your hair is absolutely gorgeous!
Great video with helpful tips!!!
we've seen it all. we actually like to find the deals that people won't touch because of it as long as the frame is good, its going to have a 2nd chance with us.
RV dealers say delamation is normal because it is the normal for them ! The result of poor construction!!
Windows! Slow leak reared its head about a month after I purchased. Source was the window seal. Successfully repaired and I had all of the windows sealed. The door suffered some delamination because of the window as well. Again, after I purchased. Grateful that is the only delamination on my rig.
Love the tragic music while showing trashed slides.
Last time I heard that kind of music was in a documentary on Russian orphans.
@@bentnickel7487 Oh my, yes, I've seen the most horrible videos from babies to adolescents abandoned and in a total horror of no care. I won't ever be able to see another video like that... It's not happening in just Russia either...
Thank you for the information I appreciate all you do to help fellow rv'ers.
Also on aluminum siding trailers make sure the lower panel has not popped out from the upper. I creates a gap water can flow in. It means the staples used to hold the upper panel are shot and the panel bottom is freely floating. It can be fixed by using a washer and screw then tuck the top of the lower panel in.
I appreciate this video. Too many people romanticize RV living like its super easy and practically free.
Remember the more complex systems your operating , the greater the maintenance issues. I sold my motor home long ago. Yes it was luxurious but when something that is a major system breaks your looking at big repair dollars and down ti.e while you look to find someone who can do that kind of work and van fit you onto their schedule and find parts. LOL. I have a chevy high top express. Good on gas no maintenance issues. Only resets needed ever have been batteries ,gas and oil changes. Tires are easy. My motorhome was double axel. Everything cost more when you drive the big ones.
Your hair looks great Deb!
Thanks!
Absolutely love your hair!
Very informative video. Thank you.
Thanks, Robin! Your hair!!! Love it! 😊
Robin, u r blooming… new love in d air😅
Good to see you and your hair is looking Awesome!!
Great video gals! I started my day early this morning watching one of Deb’s videos ❤
Valuable tips! Thanks Robin and Deb!
1956 Vintage 40' Spartan Motorcoach that is Renovated into a Great Bunkhouse outback
I am always learning new things from your video, thanks Robin for always sharing your travel experience with us 🎉
We also bought a 12 inch signature hybrid Brooklyn Bed mattress a month ago for our RV and we absolutely LOVE it!!!!
Great information as always. Your hair is beautiful.
Great interview!
Very, very helpful. Thank you both.
Damn your hair is looking good, Robin!
Another Debbie. Another Lazy Daze owner (Mid-Bath)! Hope to cross paths at some point.
Excellent info!! Thank you!
We quit the full time RV life and retired to Ecuador. We live in a beautiful beachfront condo for a little less than we were paying to RV.
Manta?
@@CassieDavis613 yes, but moving soon.
Thank you so much. I have been looking into rv life forever. You provide the best info. Hope your new kitty is doing well, and that you are bring each other joy.
Such valuable information!! Thank you!
THIS IS WHY i bought an old rotten trailer, tore it to the frame and then built it up myself. 1 piece of metal for the roof and 1 piece for each side and each end!! also 1 piece of metal on the frame under the floor! had it wrapped and then custom airbrushed to look like a rusty rotten piece of crap!!
Robin I just found your channel, I love your silver/platinum hair! I would love to get a trim (my hair is long), but I want the curl you have, it looks very natural, so pretty! I loved the information that Deb has given. My dh (dear husband of almost 50yrs) and I have thought about an RV. Good to run into your channel :). So interesting!
Great info!👍
Very informative video. Thumbs up!😎👍
Great info!
Great info!!❤🎉
Straight and to the point. Thanks.
Thank you!
Our 2016 Outdoors fifth wheel (bought home March 2024) has been solid. I checked & they put a bead of sealant along the top of the Schwintek slides where Deb said to put it! The dealership revealed it when they took it in last November & hubs has been checking the roof every travel day. We know there will be issues because well, it’s 8years old & sat for 6 of those years. It was barely used prior to that.
Thank you!!
Excellent video, Robin. Stay safe and TFS.
This was soooo informative! So Robin, how did YOUR inspection turn out??🙂
You beat me!!!😮😉
This was great! Thank you
Such helpful info. Thanks Deb! And Robin!😊
I will never buy a new RV. I live near three major trailer manufacturers. The work environment is such that they have high rates of employee turnover plus, the production schedules are so demanding that corners are cut.
Thank you so much for all you do Robin!! ✌🐢
Thank you! I’ve been looking for an RV. It’s something to look for ❤
Thank you
Good Info.
Some of the screws btwn inside walls and outside pushed thru cause of being wrong length. Something happened after using it a few months which repairs were costly and down time was rediculous😢😢😢😢
Thank you both for a very informative video ❤
Another very enjoyable video.
This is why l sold my RV and bought a simple teardrop trailer
I would want that. So cute too!
Hi Debbie.
From the one who bought your bike in Q.
HI!!! I found some things for you. Will you be in Quartszite this winter? I have extra keys and some other paperwork.
Delaminating is not always from water damage, age and exposure to heat can break down the glue causing the separation.
Ive had my F Zinger for 3 years .one slide , not a single issue yet . Live and traveling full time .think its just when built . 😊
So love your hair!!!💜
Totally awesome. Thanks for sharing. Yep, delamination cost bucks to repair, and yep, need to get my rig out and give it a once over. And where did you get the rockin' Yeti in the CFMPs? That is so cool.
Just last week I noticed the corner of the bedroom carpet outside the bathroom door wet and some moisture on the toilet room floor. Went outside to the water/sewage panel and took it off to look behind. We found the washer/dryer had been leaking (I haven't used it in 3 yrs) so we shut the water off to the washer. Everything dried out and I have some carpet cleaning to do! Not our 1st RV and water issue. Water will always find a way in if it can.
I've seen so many RVs on sale at Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune with delamination. It always seems to be a late 90's or early 2000's class A.
Probably contaminated with the water issues they had over there and made many sick.
@@deborahelliott8460
The water sickened many people and base housing had to be torn down. I never thought about RVs being ruined too. Good observation.
Your hair looks fabulous!!
I know this is completely off topic, but you and I are on an identical hair journey! 😄 Yours looks gorgeous!
I am a full time stationary in a 5 th wheel. I try really hard to stay up on all maintenance. The problem I find especially bc I a a woman is finding a honest RV tech. I have been through many.
I would love to have Rv an inspection to avoid problems. How do I find one? I am in Az.
Just purchased book on for Kindle app😊
