What is the torque spec on the 4 drive shaft bolts and do you need to use Loctite?
German, I did not use if I remember right
You the cake boss with all that frosting on the case halves,🤣🤣. Good job buddy, doing mine right now 👍
Your gears are helical gears and they are stronger in the forward position, weaker in reverse than the straight cut gears. Like a can am xmr rear diff. A regular g2 outlander comes with straight cut gears.
did you have to take the clutch case off too, or just all the control arms?
Hey buddy glad to see you got it fixed and yes I did mine different from day one I bought a CanAm Lol 😂 But I saw on Blownbudget channel they use a RS1 diffs in the front of their RZRs which what they said is now being used, something to remember if you need something stronger in the front
Hey I recently got a 2019 850 polaris scrambler and just lately been hearing a clicking noise like a clunk or something but only when I gas it and it seems to be something in the drive line to me and I am wondering if this could be the problem with it ?
@@JenandJamieGriffin sounds like it could be a U-Joint or possibly a differential
@@stacyreid5077 yeah I think I am going to replace all the u joints in my shafts just because I don't know if they have been done or even when they were done I just don't want to take a chance and blow a differential or anything major trying to make it kinda bullet proof
@@JenandJamieGriffin I hear you on making it bulletproof I’ve tried to make my Commander 800xt in my profile picture as bulletproof as I could but I’m still working on it in the axle department yet I’m not in the position to shell out for a set of Titan axles so I been rebuilding my Gorillas
hey buddy..can we get an update on how the diff is making out, is everything still good?..im just about to start the job on mine this weekend..
I haven't been able to ride my wife was in a pretty bad car accident so I've been in the hospital with her the last few weeks
@@OleNasty79 oh man im sorry to hear..i pray everything will be ok.
@@Na8Dogg thank you
Did you diff hold up my is making the same noise just trying to figure out if I switch the shims around
So far so good, been on several rides since this
How is it holding up is it worth it ?
So far so good.
@@OleNasty79how bout now? Lol. I'm about to do this and everyone says buy a new oem. Chinese one ain't worth a shit supposedly.
@@3geneforge Its been parked for almost a year now but no problems up til then.
@@OleNasty79 nice. Thanks man.
@OleNasty79 came off can am I to a 21 850 HL and ever since I got it off the floor when I let off the throttle it gives a good clunk...I belive my rear diff may be loose... my question is there a way to tighten it ?
Without hearing it or seeing it, it's kinda of hard to diagnose. Polaris does have a slight hesitation between throttle input and delivery. It's not quite as instant as Can Am. Could be that.
There's an easy tool to make to get under the needle bearing using a 1/2 in rod... took me 10min to make the tool and 10min to get the bearing out
Got a link to a vid?
If you use an awl... thicker ice pick.... tap in the oil hole and it will lift the bearing up enough to get under it
Sorry I didn't make a video yet only have a pic of the tool
@@OleNasty79 only got a pic of the tool
@@OleNasty79 not sure how to send you a pic
Screw partszilla I just found Motosport and saved a lot of money pete told me about them
I found i got to shop and compare
Yea I had to buy p500 front calipers and stuff for my portals and saved 250 that way
@@adamwilliams195 I'll check it out. Is your bike finished? I haven't seen it.
I’m starting on the bike this weekend have to get a few parts powder coated then install everything I got it’s too much for one weekend
@@adamwilliams195 oh man, gonna be a show bike huh, lol, jk
I just rebuilt my front end on a yamaha grizzly and it made that same noise after installation... wondering how yours is holding up. if not does anyone know how to correct this?
Mine is still going strong
Pressing bearings in like with that bearing driver, listen up.... You should never and I do mean "NEVER" press a bearing in by pressing on the inner race.
In this case if it went in easy you may not have F'd the bearings.
Find the bearing press plate where the outside is the same or smaller then the outer race, turn it around so the flat side contacts the bearing outer race. Do not use the side with the smaller diameter step that contacts only the inner race.
You can also use the old bearing to press in the new bearing ether on a press on with a dead blow mallet or even a hammer if you use light taps around the outside.
Done it many times and did not hurt anything because I was hitting the old "outer" race to drive in the new bearing. Just remember to NOT hit the inner bearing race with the hammer.
I have a plasma cutter so I usually cut out the center and balls from the old bearing so all that is left is the outer race, that way I never have to worry about being sloppy and whacking the inner race.
If it is a situation where the outer race may become stuck in the bearing cavity, I use a 12" disc sander and reduce the old bearing outer diameter a little so it will not become stuck in the bearing cavity.
If you use the inner race to press in a bearing and then your bearing only last a short time, now you know why.
All that press in force was transferring from the inner race to the bearings to the outer race. Bearing NO NOT LIKE being treated like that. How will they let you know? By failing quickly after you do it.
To the Olenasty79 dude if I got this wrong sorry, it just looks like your bearing press do hicky was contacting the inner race not the outer race. Next time turn the bearing press plate around and use the flat side, not the stepped side.
Hay I did not know.. until I did, by some one telling me what "not" to do.
If I can save some people from F'n up some bearings, that is the point.
Hey bud have you done anything with the quad ? I’m about to rebuild mine and curious how yours is holding
I sure haven't man, my wife was hit by a drunk driver shortly after this video and will be in a wheelchair for another 6 weeks or so.
Did you even check the gear lash before you put the ultra gray on?
I didn't replace any gears or shims. Maybe I should have.
@@OleNasty79 I rebuilt my diff and bought a pack of shims because I knew it was going to be out of spec gears wear down overtime I usually put valve lapping compound in it to make sure my pinion gear is connecting in the correct spot on my ring gear, even the smallest gap can make the gears wear out faster or chip a tooth.
@@drewhall6511 there is no room for shims for pinion gear depth only for lateral adjustments on the ring gear. If anything I would have needed more shims to tighten it up due to worn gears. But you're right, I should have checked it first.
@@OleNasty79 I’ve ridden with you a few times and loved it just don’t wanna see the bike down again hope to see you at hogwaller!
@@drewhall6511 if I got to do this again, I'm just buying a new one lol, too much of a pain in the a$$, lol
My buddy's Wildcat X rear diff was insanely easier than that lol.
