Then it gets blurry !! And we lose perspective... an actual indication of how so-called worship songs these days have stooped so low that we can't tell the difference :-(
To everyone saying "worship songs are love songs", you are sadly mistaken in this instance. Yes we should be proclaiming our love for God, but love songs are written with a mindset of eros love. Eros is the erotic or romantic type of love. We are NOT in a romantic relationship with God. His love for us is Agape, which is unconditional love. Romantic love can pass away but the unconditional love of God lasts forever. Also, when we worship God, we should be worshipping Him as His whole being. He is love but he is also many, many other things: He is infinite (Colossians 3:17), unchanging (Malachi 3:6), Omnipotent (Job 11:7-11), Omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-10), Omniscient (Isaiah 46:9-10), Just (Deuteronomy 32:4), Wise (Romans 11:33), and Holy (Revelation 4:8). These are just a few of a myriad of other characteristics and attributes of God, and the amazing part is He is equally all of those things; one does not take a greater role than the other. Thus, when we lift up praises together in song, we should be praising God in His entirety, not just the "feel-good" aspects of His nature. This can be further seen according to 1 Corinthians 14:16: "How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. *Let all things be done for edification*..." Paul's exhortation is to let everything when gathered as a body to "be done for edification", which conveys the idea of building-up, encouraging, teaching, and/or improving. By this standard, we should walk away from every time of congregational worship having been educated, taught, or improved spirituality with a deeper and fuller understanding of God's nature in all His attributes as well as being reminded of why we are gathered in the first place: the Gospel- the birth, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as a propitiation for God's imminent wrath and that if we repent and follow Christ in faith then we will receive salvation and spend eternity in Heaven. If the only thing we can take away after worshipping God is a notion of the idea that we love Him and He loves us, then those songs utterly failed in their mission to ultimately edify, or teach, the people about the very God they were worshipping, and instead left them with a vague idea of God's love and a rush of dopamine. The church is not a spiritual crackhouse; it is the house of the Almighty God and we have an obligation as His followers to educate, or edify, fellow believers and the world with knowledge of His full nature and how to ultimately live in eternity with him with absolutely **everything** we take part in. 1 Corinthians 10:31: "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

Dalton Brown True, as did others in the Old Testament. And Acts 1 is before the Holy Spirit was given. Tobi Oyedele I agree. This line doesn’t sit right with me either... and I’m a worship leader. I haven’t chosen that song for awhile because of that line
But the lines are taken out of context, which is the main reason they can't tell. For example, "The colors of the morning are inside your eyes" is a metaphor about the beauty of Creation revealing the character of God. If you took a line from Scripture out of context, you might not be able to tell, either. For example, "You give [me] drink from the river of delights."

@@jt08250 dude get yourself some theology degrees and maybe we can have a conversation. I am not "making up my own version".. I've done biblical studies for years, as well as studied Koine Greek, and 1 Tim 2 is a no brainer for those who is not ignorant enough to read the Bible in one non-original language and take it literally. Please, in Koine Greek it even says a "wife" over her "husband" lol. To generalize and claim that this sentence means that Paul forbids women to teach the Gospel forever is completely contradictory to both the book of Romans and Galatians. Remember, Scripture always interprets Scripture and Paul writes INTO a culture, THROUGH a culture. Stop the Pharisee behaviour. You're missing the Gospel and it's quite unpleasant to read.
I’m the co-host of a podcast and our most recent episode is titled “Does God Care How We Worship”? Not a shameless plug, but it’s a very important topic to remember not to romanticize God and to remember worship is not merely a genre, but our active obedience and pursuit of God because He is infinitely worthy to be praised and worshipped! This video really encapsulates the fact we have made worship about ourselves and our emotions instead of about God. The most true to scripture turned out to be worship songs. Appreciate the video. I only clicked on this to make sure there were some people actually calling it out 👍 I've been the holier than thou bad guy on too many threads lately, thankfully someone else has this one covered 😄🤦🏻♀️
@@TruthBecomesHer I'd rather be a "holier than thou".person then have no discernment and worship a false God. You should watch Spencer Smith he makes lots of videos exposing these "Christian" artists
Agree.
Also colin something Miller I think ? I'll look it up if you don't already know of him :]
@@TruthBecomesHer yeah I do actually sub to him lol
@@MicaelaContreras I figured as much ;]
i have hear of Spencer smith but I'm not subbed. I'll check him out :)
It would've been really funny if they'd included a line from the chorus of Jars of Clay's "Love Song for a Savior."
*edit* "line" not "like"
That would've been gold... 😂
That would have been perfect oh my stars 😂
Perfect because I grew up listening to that on a inappropriate rock station and only found out it was talking about jesus a year or 2 ago
@@JaneDoe-qf1kk That is even more perfect because it means those 2nd and 3rd verses got played on an inappropriate rock station:)
@@philipmcniel4908 yep even switchfoot and lifehouse was played on the station. Never realized until 2017 or after
"I'm born to love again, I'm a brand new man"
lol definitely a love song. It's a Brooks and Dunn song from the 90s I think lol!
Love that Kings Kaleidoscope Intro!
Fun fact: Rod Stewart's song "I have told you lately" WAS first a worship song by a writer, but he made it a love song.
interesting fact thanks for sharing Liz!
They both have amazing voices and great personality‼️
Ben's my second favourite songwriter, behind Brooke
Someone from hillsong saying "that theology is wack" is laughable.
Genuine question: what's wrong with Hillsong's theology?
Ierarchia wow you clearly haven’t done your exegesis
Viktoria Nordin clearly you like to make up your own version of what the scriptures say there is absolutely no other way to take 1 Timothy 2 unless you want to completely rewrite it.
@@jarrahe lol who called Jesus a heretic? The Pharisees. Who were Jesus the hardest on? Exactly, the Pharisees. Have fun in heaven man, you too, have completely missed the point of the Gospel and Jesus' mission.
Kings kaleidoscope at the end!!!!!!!!!!!
ok but i just watched an Ad on Charity Water and i’m... sobbing😭
Melody Of You by Sixpence None The Richer - I wanted to play it at church and I think my pastor said no because it sounded on the sensual side?
brazilian here✋🏻 amo esse ministério, tocando vidas em todo o mundo para gloria de Deus 🙏
Love that Kings Kaleidoscope in the intro!!!
Lol Brooke and that Michael W. Smith moment though 😂
Love songs express love towards women
And
Worship songs express love towards God and Jesus
“Take that passion” “take that Hillsong” 😂😂
This is cool. :) I hope you can upload more of these.
0:55 I just listened to All Of Me (The song) before watching this -w-
I’m the co-host of a podcast and our most recent episode is titled “Does God Care How We Worship”? Not a shameless plug, but it’s a very important topic to remember not to romanticize God and to remember worship is not merely a genre, but our active obedience and pursuit of God because He is infinitely worthy to be praised and worshipped! This video really encapsulates the fact we have made worship about ourselves and our emotions instead of about God. The most true to scripture turned out to be worship songs. Appreciate the video. God bless!
The third one was All of Me by John Legend
Clearly, they have never heard your love is extravagant!
