@@tmoddison My significant other actually grew up in Jacksonville when his mother and grandmother ran the old Doll museum at the McCully house in the late 60’s. He also spent time up in Bend and he’s been to Ashland. We’re currently living in my home state of New York right now but our dream is to relocate to Ashland within the next year to two. I know it’s going to be rough because Ashland area is very high end with prices for apartments but we’re keeping the faith. We love your videos. Keep them coming!

We just moved to Ashland to a neighborhood next to North Mountain Park and across from the Culture Center. It's called Riverwalk. Our backyard opens to parkland. It's wonderful. The development is relatively new (2005) by Ashland standards. There is an HOA, but generally, they are helpful and hands-off.

You gotta love deer. They're everywhere in Ashland. The deer own the town.

On Ashland Mine Rd, half of the road is on city services while the other side of the street have wells, some of which have gone low during the dry times. If you want a 100 plus year old house & perhaps tons of sewer problems then the RR district has many of those yet it is lovely to live in & we have spotted bears walking down 2nd street in the mornings in the spring, summer & fall. Anywhere near Lithia Park has bears who bowl with the trash cans that people insist upon putting out the night before trash pickup. My friend on Nutley picks up alot of trash. She also has no bird feeders because of the bears. If you want to cross country ski to & from your car during snow when you're up in the hills, then above the boulevard places could be for you, as well as Gresham & on up. We had 5 acres out in S. Ashland & it's beautiful, but you will hear & smell the freeway in many places & they have wells which are also struggling during heat, 2 former neighbors' wells have gone dry. Helman is one of the top 20 elementary schools in the state & Quiet Village is a great mix, walkable to town but housing is limited. Our house was on the market for 3 hrs when we bought it 3 years ago so have a realtor who's on it, like Travis seems to be. Lots of retired people here, would like to see more housing for the working age folks. Since the fire many people who lost homes have had to leave the area & many of those folks are also still looking for homes here.

@@tmoddison Have lived here since 1978. Drove my bug here from PA by myself when I was 21, have owned 2 properties & built a house. It's my place, there is none like it. We have a beautiful live & let live town here. I was a nurse & got a job in NICU at RVMC.

@Nurjamila1 that’s an amazing story! How did you hear about Ashland when you were 21 in PA?

@@tmoddison Had a friend in Eagle Point, one of 13 kids. She invited me out & we rafted the Rogue River with all of her siblings, 3 of whom were also nurses. We came to Ashland to eat at the Dragons Den, an amazing bakery that was below what is now Mix. When I came to Ashland, that was it. Went home, packed my bug & traveled across the US with a Rand McNally & 7 tapes to listen to & a back seat filled with my record albums. I followed the folks who opened Greenleaf in their VW van as we drove into town.
