Alesis, well known to drummers for their iconic SR-16 drum machine as well as electronic drum sets, just rolled out a heavy-hitting sampler pad that’s making waves. Though they’ve made sampler pads in the past, the Strike Multipad is the beginning of a new era. Let’s get right into why this beast is raising eyebrows and pulling ears in the drumming community.

Thanks for making this video, nice one! I just got mine a few weeks ago, loving it! I have a question for you... I've noticed that most of the factory samples have an 'a' and a 'b' version, for example kick drum sample '26RKing a'... and the next sample is '26RKing b'... my question is do you know what the differnce is between the a and the b sample? They sound very similar if not identical to me... is it meant to be left hand right hand? Or is b meant to be a ghost note? Many thanks is advance!

Hi, I have ordered mine Yesterday, it will hopefully arrive soon. For as far as I know, you can use A and B to use it for use with a switch, e.g. hi-hat open and close! Maybe I am wrong...but I’ll find out. Enjoy your Multipad! I am sure I will!

@@Pauluz_The_Web_Gnome Yes you will enjoy it for sure! It's a great addition to any studio and for the stage too... at the moment I use it a lot to record realistic sounding drums for my demos, if you choose the right sounds and don't do too many rolls that tend to sound a bit 'machine gun like' it sounds awesome! Using it as a midi controller I think improves a lot the realistic feel too, but I haven't got round to explore that yet. I had to update the firmware which improved a few things, including Hi Hat mode for what you mentioned open/closed A/B thing... but haven't quite figured out why all the factory samples have an A and a B... if you figure it out please let me know! Have fun!

I’ve been interested in this piece of gear for quite some time now. I was just about to order an Alesis Strike MultiPad Percussion Pad but I need a very important question answered first. I know the Alesis Strike MultiPad Percussion Pad is capable of so much more, but I plan to use it only as a drum kit. I’m now in a situation where there is a physcial space and volume limitation. It would be great to just walk in with this pad, a stand, and a foot and hi hat controller.
    QUESTION:
When the Alesis Strike MultiPad Percussion Pad is used as/like a drum kit, is the hi hat able to be played/controlled closed, half open and sloshy? Or is it just closed or fully open?
    Thank you!

After buying Strike, it seems like the pads have much less subtlety vs SPDsx, and the minimum force to register a sound is much higher. What do you think?

really? I want to try out the Alesis because I have to hit super hard on my spdsx, even with low sens.

I wonder if Alesis realise how many of these they would have sold if they had just included a quantize option on the loop function.

I've been researching this thing and THAT has been something I have yet to see addressed. I wrongly assumed it would have it and I'm pleased you mentioned that it doesn't, so thanks!

The whole point of a drum pad like this is so you can beats unquantized lol you get that natural swing this way much better than robotic quantizing on drums

I don't think alesis has any interest in customer service.

Had mine for about a week and am already disappointed by a few important things (to me)
    1. No quantize/snap function for loop recording either during recording or playback
    2. When you start recording a loop, you have to wait for a 1 bar count-in. I much prefer the Roland SPD-s process which arms record and gives a click, but doesn’t start recording until you actually strike a pad.
    3. Would love to have a “live record” loop function (similar to Wavedrum Mini or the latest Roland Handsonic) where you are able simply and quickly record a phrase without having to set up tempo or bar length etc.. Great for capturing “on the fly” loops in real time.
    4. Cannot match sampled loops to clock/tempo sync (like in Ableton). Loops only play back at tempo recorded
    5. No ability to have sampled loop phrases start playback on the nearest beat/bar etc… If you don’t hit the pad exactly in time you loops will be out of sync.
    6. No way to sync FX such as delay to clock/tempo
    7. No way to mute individual loops.
Why can’t someone just come out with a drum pad hardware version of Ableton Live????
