OUR STORY SO FAR
We are Ellie and Graham.
We travel the UK in Merlin with our three little dogs, Maya, Luna and Jazz.
We are Wizard in the Wild.
Our love of the great outdoors combined with Ellie’s post-cancer complications means our home on wheels with creature comforts is a perfect solution. A great way to explore nature on good days and a cosy little bolt-hole for the others.
We bought Merlin in 2021 after six years of travel in our motor home Merv.
Whilst we enjoyed our adventures in Merv, we wanted something smaller and more nimble, so we could explore those tucked away places off the beaten track. Hence Merlin.
Initially we only used campsites, but as time goes on we are going off-grid more regularly and really loving it.
The aim of the channel is to reveal the true beauty of nature whatever the weather! We also feel it’s important to show the reality of van life, and not just the good bits when the sun is shining.
Whatever the weather, our motto is to just get out in nature. It’s good for the soul! - Розваги
What a wonderful series - I've fallen in love with the Outer Hebrides ❤Think it's the beauty and tranquility of the islands. Can understand how you must have felt returning to the mainland and busy Oban. Thank for sharing your adventures with us all xx😊❤
Yes getting back to busy Oban was a shock. So glad you’ve enjoyed it. Sad that Ray couldn’t complete it. Thanks for watching and commenting we appreciate it. Take care. 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍 xx
Dawdle & bimble on the outward journeys, just comfort stops for the dogs on the way home. Really enjoyed your latest series, thanks for sharing. Ear scratches to the beautiful pups.
Hi Gillian. Funny isn’t it? Once our minds are set on getting home that’s it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️👍😊
Funny, we are the same way when traveling, leave home, check out all the sites. Heading home, drive like hell. Thanks for letting us tag along.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️😩
Good to see someone turning the alarm off, as most people don't. Wolfie hated all the alarms going off and it scared him getting out the campervan to go upstairs. I felt strange after 10 days on Arran. It seemed so busy on the mainland. We overnighted at Falloch Falls so that we could get out first thing and we went to Inveruglas because of when you two went the first time, a few years back by now, I bet.
It can be pretty bad when all the alarms go off. Poor Wolfy! It can make things so tricky when you’re trying to get him used to the whole idea of the ferry.
Strange how busy it feels on the mainland after being on the quieter Islands isn’t it?.
Pleased you managed to park at the falls and inveruglas is a lovely spot. We usually stop there even if only for a cuppa! Thanks for watching ❤️Safe travels ❤️👍😊
Awr the little girls are so well behaved.it melted me when I saw jazz on Ellie knee.like she was saying look after me mum and I know you will the three little fluffiest are in the best of care. I always look forward to your videos. Thanks for sharing your travels Michael uk care home resident 😊
Hi Michael. Hope all is good with you. The girls do so well with the ferries now. The first time we went they shook the whole time. Now they only wake up when there’s a big wave or a bacon sandwich. Jazzy is a proper mummy’s girl. Never far from my side bless her❤️🐶❤️. Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️👍😊. Take care.
That crossing did look rough and well done getting up in the middle of the night to catch it 👍 As for the dunking Biscoff dilemma, I think someone needs to design a mug with a biscuit attachment inside! Thanks for the laughs and Jazz stole the show as usual - lookout Jaws 😂❤
Thanks both❤️. Just glad we had our breakfast before it got too rough. Even though Jazz has no teeth, it still makes us jump each time we give her a treat 🤣 safe travels. ❤️👍😊
Hi there, I died twice (the early wake up, I'm an owl, not a larch), I laughed out loud ( the third time at the same round about) and I smiled many times (the girls on the ferry trip, Grahams' smile over that huge full Scottish breakfast and the memories of the hole trip). Thank you so much for taking us with you, it was a pleasure. 🤗
You know, I'm teavelling alone, therefore I never rush home, but take my time. All that navigation, preparation and attention when driving demands a lot of energy and I am not a "young hopper" anymore ... 😁
Stay safe and sound until we "meet" us again 😊, sincerely, Gabriela ☀️👋
Hi Gabriela. So pleased we brought a smile to your face ❤️. We all need a bit of that in our lives don’t we?
I think we need to perhaps cultivate a slow “ going home” always so much to see. Just haven’t managed it yet. Or perhaps we just need to travel in a big circle 🤣.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️👍😊
Thank you for sharing that wonderful video. I live in the United States, and it's a pleasure to see areas that I will never see otherwise.
Thank you Terrie. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
Wow the biscuits looked tempting at the start and plenty to go around! Shame it was ferry day. Nice the girls can go in the lounge without needing to be caged like on the Ireland ferry. Calmac are great with pets. Sometime nice when it is quiet eh. It did look a little wild! The breakfast looked nice! Great of you to share with the dogs… Some lovely places you have visited - thank you for the inspiration, Roxy has asked to go!! All the best, David & Rachel (and Roxy!) 👍❤️🐾
You have to take lovely Roxy😉. ( all those beaches…)CalMac are great with regard to pets. Nice people to deal with too and the ferries are reasonably priced. ( allow a bit of time for delays though)
We would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for watching the series. Take care both ❤️👍😊🐶
Beautiful, thanks for taking us along....I’ll get there one day ♥️🐚
I hope you do Claire it’s well worth it. At least we think so. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️🤣
Beautiful my friend ❤❤❤👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹

Great series, so thank you. We're just back from Skye and loved it.
Scotland just teases you, and you just want to go back for more!.
So pleased you enjoyed the series. Skye is also one of our favourite places. And you are right it keeps tempting you back. Thanks for commenting it means a lot to us. 🏴🚐🧙♂️🐶🐶🐶
Oh wow that crossing was rough!! And early!! 😃. We watched the big ferries going through the Sound of Mull to the Outer Hebrides from the East coast of Mull and Ardnamurchan.
In Oban there is a car park at the Rugby club which we used a couple of times - just a short walk into town.
You guys must have been shattered
The wet biscuit feeding - what could go wrong! 😃😃
Lovely spot for overnight.
We were going to stop in Yorkshire on the way back but in the end just drove on through back to home.
Such a stunning trip guys - we have learned a lot and hoping to get there in Spring 25.
Safe travels Graham and Ellie.
Really useful to know that about the Rugby club thanks guys. We want to get into Mull now. It looks lovely there. Yep once we are headed home there is no point delaying. Thanks for your lovely comment. Appreciate it. 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
Another amazing vlog guys. Oban looked very busy. Like you guys we prefer quieter areas to visor. The Boathouse breakfast looked incredible, particularly with haggis. One of our favourite meals. We're with you when it comes to returning home and will almost certainly drive the full distance in one day. We've done this on previous visits to the South of France but given that distance we split up the journey into two stages. Tired at the end but at least we're home. Stay safe guys. Sid and Nicola, Rugby
Hi Sid and Nicola. Can’t beat peace and quiet can you? We both love haggis and it’s so nice with breakfast.
So you’re like us, preferring to do a lot of driving to get home? Funny how we want to get back home once we’ve made our minds up! Thanks for watching ❤️👍😊
I really enjoyed this series and one day I hope we will get to go there. Take care Gill
Yes I hope you get there to Gill. There are plenty of campsites. If you go on to the Internet “outer Hebrides “ they do a info map with them all listed. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🐶🐶🐶👍🚐🧙♂️
I liked the wool factory and the big breakfast!
Yeah the wool mill was so interesting and the breakfast so yummy. What’s not to love. 🐶🐶🐶👍🧙♂️🚐
Lovely chatty vlog. I quite like a choppy ferry - it all adds to the experience 😀. That was a loooong drive home Graham, but sometimes it’s good to just keep going🙂.x
Thanks Ruth. We thought we would do it a little different for the last in the series. Some people seem to like the extra chat but others don’t. Glad you liked it and thanks for commenting. We had a good look round a Consort the other day. Great finish to them. Take care. 🐶🐶🐶🧙♂️🚐👍
@@Wizardinthewild Ken and Carol’s Consort? Think the great finish makes them heavy though😂
@@ruthkirby9277 yes it was. They stayed on our drive one night. If we were changing Merlin that would be our favourite choice. Really very cosy. I probably shouldn’t but I tend to ignore the weight issue 🚐. X
Thank you for a great vlog. What an adventure you've all had .X
So pleased you’ve enjoyed the trip. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ❤️👍😊
Enjoyed the narrating 🥰🇦🇺🐾
Aww thank you Julie. Some people like that and others don’t. In this one I think it was appropriate. Thanks for your comment and of course watching. 🐶🐶🐶👍🚐🧙♂️

You can have 3hrs in Lidl car park we have used it a few times for breakfast after buying some rolls from the bakery section
We hadn’t thought of that Billy. Great idea. I think you might see that in a future video. Thanks for commenting 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
Another great video, thankyou for sharing. 🙂
Thanks David. Really pleased you enjoyed it. Wax a great tour. 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️
Fantastic series xxx
Hi Yvette. So pleased you enjoyed the series. Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️👍😊
Always love your videos. I wasn't keen on the choppy seas though, at that point I'm so pleased I wasn't there 😂 ❤❤ xxxx
Thanks Yvonne ❤️. We really appreciate your support for the channel. It was rather choppy, and not helped by the constant weather updates telling us how rough it was!! Safe travels ❤️😊👍
Great video, never done outer Hebrides in the van ( been on a coach tour) it’s amazing. Shame you didn’t find parking in Oban it’s a lovely place. Love those cuties you make it look so easy having three dogs in a van , I just have one grumpy 14 year old terrier 🤣. Wherever you go next enjoy.
Aww I’m sure “grumpy” is much loved. It’s not always easy with the three dogs but hey, we love them. Thanks for your lovely comment. 🐶🐶🐶😩🧙♂️👍
4.55 if not early 7:30 is early 4:55 flipping early.
LOL either that or there are a lot of Royal Hotels
Haste Ye Back now means Where do you think you are going.
Nice Breakfast at Glencaple. Will have to try that.
I am shouting BOSTAH Beach.
I will watch the playlist I am bound to have missed something.
Just back from a short trip.
Haste ye back is beckoning. I couldn’t remember the beach name. It happens a lot. Thanks a lot for your comment 👍🧙♂️🚐🐶🐶🐶🏴
Great series guys what a trip - we must do it sometime as it seems our diet of destination
We are always thinking if we have switched this off or or put handbrake on etc - worst one is where one mentions it to the other lol
Thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed the series.
Yeah it’s a worry when you have those thoughts and there is only one way to ease your fears. 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
Great series and looking forward to the nxt. I'm like you and just want to get back, last time we were in Scotland I did cumbria to the south coast in one hit, long way. Stay safe you two and the girls 👍
One Steve that was a hell of a drive. I bet it felt strange finally letting go of the steering wheel 🤣. Glad you liked the series and I hope you like our upcoming videos. Cheers for the comment. Stay safe. 🐶🐶🐶🚐👍🧙♂️
@@Wizardinthewildthe drive to Fort William from South Coast is about 12 hrs, so do it over night 👍
Thank you for sharing you outer hebrides trip my wife and I have been watching every week and we've already booked the ferry's for mid September,
We plan to take the same route as you did but we're talking 4 weeks to get round. Can't wait to see where you are going to next! Have you considered Irelands North Atlantic way?
Hi Gary. Thank you for your comment. We are so pleased you enjoyed the series. You will love it there if you liked our vlogs. I think 4 weeks would be far better than what we did. We have considered Ireland and it’s definitely something we may well do. Once again I’m glad you enjoyed it. Let us know how you get on 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
absolutely love your vlogs and especially your trips in Scotland. I really am not criticising you but if you go back to Oban, the stress on the name is on the first syllable, so it’s Oban not obAn sorry but I’m both Scottish and a linguist. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it Pam. My pronunciation is very poor. I just can’t seem to get my head around some of the names. I mistakenly thought Oban was an easy one 😩. Thanks for pointing it out. It must be annoying for you when you know how it should be said and people just can’t get. I certainly never mean any disrespect. Thanks again. 🐶🐶🐶🚐🧙♂️👍
Looks smashing , shame my mrs gets sea sick washing her feet -)
Thanks Ian. Glad you liked it. Unfortunately not much you can do if you don’t like boats. 😩🐶🐶🐶🚐👍🧙♂️
