I had one Corolla for 17 years. Ran like new the day I sold it. Best car I ever owned, change the fluids, few sets of tires , it was cheaper to own than a monthly bus pass.
🤣17 years like old ex love
46k for mine
@@AngelValdovinos 👍😁
Its such a waste opportunity that nobody would ever put on sport tires on this brand vs a Civic. They run more quietly and grip is phenomenal. The Hankooks Ventus V12s would have been a cheaper option. I am using these on my car.
I would have to go with Mazda 3 over this. Corolla a magnificent vehicle, but Mazda has all real gears and transmission and, interior is nicer. Although more expensive it’s worth it to me.
Hybrids definitely make a lot more sense than the forced push for EVs. Everyone could afford hybrids and I think companies should make hybrids standard to lower the entry price.
@Paul that’s so false on so many levels. But ok. Toyota is a pioneer of hybrid vehicles and does it best. They also are very knowledgeable on EV’s and are slowly easing into the market while taking their time to do it as best as possible. They also are the ones, along with honda that are betting hydrogen fuel is the future. They’re light years ahead of where you think they are. They just always slow roll things and make sure it works as best as possible first. Alternatively you could go buy a panel gap machine with endless reliability issues (Tesla)
@Paul Toyota didn't "Sell Tesla" because they ARE NOT Tesla and didn't own them to begin with. I believe you meant to say was that they sold stock in Tesla. Which btw, people love to act like Tesla is so valuable because of their vehicles, but that's not even true. It's everything else Elon is involved in that makes Tesla valuable. Also, in short order you're going to see market value of Tesla lower as ALL OTHER vehicle manufacturers are going to take a major chunk out of Teslas essential monopoly on electric cars. Imagine being able to buy an EV that doesn't have 3 finger wide panel gaps and AC unit drain hoses that drain onto the batteries rendering the car completely useless. All it takes is a CAR COMPANY that knows what they're doing and not a software firm with piss poor manufacturing and Tesla will be way down in the market. Also, the future is Hydrogen Fuel with BEV's supplementing the market. Not all EVs. Unless you want rolling blackouts and the inability to charge your 200 mile town car with a $26k battery that lasts 10 years tops.
@Paul omg the amount of uninformed shit you write is monumental. Have a good day
why dont we get small displacement diesels like the rest of the world, some newer turbo diesels get like 70mpg - putting hybrids to shame if you ask me without the added hassle/complexity of battery pack replacement 150k miles down the road. We can all thank emissions I guess haha
@Paul In fairness, Toyota quadrupled their money on their Tesla investment, even though they missed an opportunity to make a lot more. Toyota's hybrid vehicles are some of the most reliable in the auto industry, so not sure why complexity would be an issue.
Never thought a Corolla could look so good. I owned 2 much older ones but I felt cheap in them. I wouldn't feel cheap in this one. 👍
This one turned out really well.
Those older models had to pave the way
Agree
@@j.m.5995 they walked so these new ones could run 🥺😭
I just bought the regular se trim ‘22 and I love it!!
I sometimes miss my corrolla! So dependable and enjoyed it. Never had issues. Had almost 300k miles on my 2015
300k miles in 7-8 years? How?
@@enriquearayatajr Some people just spend their whole lives driving. They live in a slum so they prefer to sleep and eat in their Corolla.
I have 168000 in my 15
Bro drove from NY to LA 106 times in the span of 7 years
You will be surprised, my Corolla have 119087 miles and it’s a 2018. I drive a lot but she still drives like new!😊
I agree with you Joe about getting a hybrid I think the government and industry is pushing hard on full electric vehicles when the infrastructure is not there to support it
It is the best of both worlds
blame George Soros
We just traded in our 2013 VW Passat Wagon, which was in almost mint condition because it was just a weekend car, But Expensive to Keep Up, for a 2016 Corolla LE Eco model that had one owner and 51,000 miles with actual stock rims and no hubcaps. Love it!
The Corolla is an impressive car. It's roomy, well screwed together, and feels very pleasant to ride in. It has a really supple, plush ride. Its ride is really a standout.
I had the 95 Corolla for 21 years. Held onto it like it was my best friend
Now this is the way to go! Toyota and Honda understood the assignment! When I buy a commuter car for work, I am not looking for full out luxury. I'm looking for affordability and longevity. It basically serves one purpose only, to go back and forth to work, be somewhat comfortable, last a long time with very little maintenance, and put a ton of miles on it. My nice performance / sports cars and truck is basically weekend only outings or towing. This is a great compromise between all gas vs all electric. Technology has gotten better with these hybrids and the price is very reasonable compared to spending over 60k for all electric EV. You could buy this car and put gas in it for the life of the vehicle before you would ever break even buying a all electric car and paying additional for electric to power it.
This is such a good perspective
What A Cool Review Of A 2023 Toyota Corolla. The Best New Sport Sedan To Buy.
I am glad that you are digging it!
Sport Sedan?🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
People are giving Toyota a ton of flak for slow-pedaling their EV products. But this is such a practical vehicle, and at 50 MPG in the city, you are close to EV costs, because EV's cost more to purchase, insure, and finance. This is a world-beating car. Very disappointed that they couldn't squeeze in a spare tire. What are these companies thinking? We have bad roads here in Oakland, with lots of nails on the street, and flat tires happen frequently.
If you want a spare tire get the gas version
i have a 2015 automatic corolla, the last year before the hybrids kicked in, such a pleasure to drive
50mpg with dependability you can't go wrong and it looks really nice👍
Correction: All Corolla Hybrid models have an e-CVT. It's a planetary gear setup so technically not an actual CVT. Only the gas versions of the Corolla come with the Direct-Shift CVT with a first gear.
It's called an E-CVT, so it's a CVT. There's nothing to be ashamed of.
@@clearcut6818 No it's not a CVT.
@@braetonwilson4296 then why call it a CVT
@@clearcut6818 it's e-CVT, is completely different than conventional CVT. Normal CVT has belt driven but eCVT is gear driven. They have the same name but all the hardware and technology are different. eCVT last way longer than normal CVT.
@@felixyu930 not taking about durability. It's all about the sound. Still sounds like a whiny CVT.
I'm digging the name Infrared with the Corolla the design is an improvement from the last generation and driving one is fun. Thanks for the review and Lori always making magic behind the camera!
She really is the best in the biz!
Who lit a fire in Toyota ass??? There killing it lately!! Not so boring anymore!! Love it!!
Looks good, drives good, price is attractive, mpg's are insane. Cheks many boxes.
I definitely think there should be red on the dash and steering wheel as well but I still love this car and it’s wheels too but I’d have to have an XSE EDITON AS I HAVE TO HAVE HEATED SEATS IN ANY CAR FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT LONG TERM
I had a Semi run me off the hwy in a Corolla years ago. He hit me with the end of his trailer during a lane change and spun me out at 70mph!. He just kept on going. I don't think he realized he had bumped me or didn't want to get in trouble for it. I busted the windshield with my head and ended up in the median. Car was totalled but I was in excellent shape considering! At 50mpg I couldn't care less how slow it is! Besides it looks nice! 💯
If this car came in a 200hp configuration I think it would give the Si a run for its money they're such good looking cars
I think you are so very right!
I have a 2018 Corolla SE. It has over 80,000 miles with not one problem. Just do regular maintenance, wash it regularly, put gas and it will last forever. I’m not into 0-60 times, luxury or looks. Just need a car that will last many years that will take me from A to B without any problems, low maintenance cost, ownership and the Corolla hits all the check marks.
Fact i have 2007 Corolla ce with no issue or no nothing just take care of it. She’s reliable and dependable love it.
My first car was a 1988 Toyota Corolla. I drove it for 9 years until I gave it to my sister and it served her problem free for another 8 years before it finally died.
Wow I’m amazed at this Corolla especially the fuel economy! Great work as always you two, thank you guys for all that you do,and just like always joe and Lori,I’ll see you on the next ride. 😊😊😊
Man that’s really sharp looking.
You are so very right about that!
@@RaitisRides Yessir
So heads up for the future vids on Toyota hybrids, all Toyota hybrid sedans/compacts come equipped with an E-CVT. It used a planetary gearset instead of a normal belt driven gearset.
E-CVTs are wayy more reliable than regular CVTs as most of their power gets distributed really well mechanically. Not all the power is coming from the engine, about 35-40% is coming from the electric motor.
Anyways, loved the video!
Yes another Joe and Lori video!!!!
Thanks Ruben for being so supportive!
Corolla...I've had 3 of them. Slow, kinda boring but very dependable.
Thanks for the great review, Joe!
The old Corollas were slow and boring. Not these new ones.
@@braetonwilson4296 LIES YOU TELL!

I think the CVT is the same as a Prius eCVT no first gear only 1 gear. Planetary style . The NA corolla with CVT has a torque converter style 1st gear then CVT after.
For that price point, wow that's great! The mileage is INSANE
Perfect car for college students and fixed income families. High mpg, good looks, seasoned model, and great price.
Love this little sedan! Great review Joe and great job on the camera Lori!!!! To The Door Panels!!!
That infrared would be sharp on a grey or navy color as well!

I’m surprised that there is no insulation on the hood. It would definitely help out on the engine noise.
I am debating a Rolla hybrid as my next car (currently 19 Rolla hatch) and to answer your question, I don't care if it's better than a Mazda, I care if it returns stellar MPG and never gives me any issues. I love my 2019 its been trouble free and I will happily own another especially a hybrid.
I love Rollas
2022 Corolla Hybrid/2022 Prius only had 121 hp and 105 lb ft of torque. So this 2023 Corolla hybrid having 134 hp and 156 lb ft of torque is definitely an upgrade! Also, a 10 year hybrid battery warranty sure is nice!
Raiti's legendary 7:23 to the door panels
My 2013 with 194k and still running strong. New fan and alternator are the only things that have needed replacing. Interested in a Corolla SE Hybrid, but not the Infrared edition
They really gotta make a hatchback corolla hybrid that’ll sell so well
So happy this car exists and not only that it has analoge gauges. Great video. :)
What I think is you're the best car reviewer in America, period. 😁
Can’t go wrong with the Toyota quality. I bought my daughter a used ‘17 Corolla when she graduated college in ‘18. No problems at all with the Corolla. On a side note, if you buy that Joe is 6’ tall I have some beach 🏖 front property in Arizona that I’ll sell you 🤣. Sorry Joe, just messing with ya!
I came so close to loving this. When I first saw it I thought it was what I've been waiting for. A hybrid SI competitor. I want a sport compact hybrid. Fun to drive but responsible too. One day someone will dare to build that
A hybrid Civic Si with a 6-speed manual with 240-250hp and over 40MPG would be crazy (in a good way) and I think people would warm up to that with it still having an internal combustion engine in it.
@@antoinelee-thomas9536 I wouldn't be able to give them my money fast enough
I’m actually glad they left out the simulated shifts. If it wasn’t made with gear changes, why add something to represent something that doesn’t even exist?
We need a “To the door panels!” Merch shirt
They have one now. It was introduced earlier this year.
I have a 2019 corolla hatch with the leather heated seats. Absolutely love it. Yeah it's a bit noisy on the highway but it is not a camry. Bought it used with 6000 miles, $22,000 18 months ago. My 4th toyota.
I want to trade in my sonata for a Corolla SE hybrid when they’re available. Such a nice car and you can’t go wrong with a Corolla
in order to beat the milage, Mazda and Honda need to release a mode with 110 hp.
Toyota has stepped up their game big time. Love the design
Really nice review; car makes sense functionally and practically!
You are so very right about that!
Just wish they would give the Corollas a little more power
They have a Corolla GR with more horsepower
Love this review so much that I had to subscribe. Did you find the interior noise to be any quieter on the 2023 versus the 2020 - 2022 Corolla Hybrid. They supposedly made it quieter for 2023. Please let me know.
Whaaaaaaat??!!!! Yall were busy down in Nashville huh!!! Infrared Edition!!! This thing is haaaawt!!! Awesome review Joe and Lori!!!
Are those seats comfortable? I am considering a hybrid SE but worried the cloth seats will be too rough.
Yes
Wow nice looking car
Could do with a little more RED touches on the inside but overall beautifully designed inside out...TOYOTA
Car looks awesome and with the fuel prices is a tempting offer but the CVT every manufacturer is using 😢 is the only thing that kill the deal!
I just ordered 2 2023 corolla hybrid awd. It has e-cvt(no belts, no pulleys, just whole bunch of gears) the gasoline corolla has a cvt with 1st gear. Only problem, 1 year wait time.

What a complete package. Likely a great value at MSRP. Not a cvt fan but if anyone can make a reliable one it’s TM. pretty sure hybrid doesn't have 1st gear, motor generator drives the wheel only and planetary gear splits the power with other electric motor and the engine
Yeah the hybrid Corolla has a different e cvt compared to the 2.0 with the first gear
Raiti's Rides reviews has me thinking, SQUIRREL! But when it comes down to it, I'm really digging the Honda Civic Hatchback. I've said before, but it's going to be my next car 😂
Imagine a full EV Corolla. Game changer!!
Looks good and love the mileage. I would consider this (especially with AWD for the snowy winters), but it just seems a little too slow. It doesn’t need to be a GR Corolla, but it should be at least as fast (or faster) than the normal Corolla with the 2.0L engine.
It is at least as fast. 2022 Corolla hybrid only had 105 lb ft of torque. 2023 Corolla hybrid has 156 lb ft of torque, a big jump! This will be slightly faster than the gasoline Corolla with the 2 liter engine.
@@braetonwilson4296 Sure didn’t look that way when he went “on throttle”.
@@stevenjames1138 I agree it looked slower than the 2.0 Corolla. And that does 0-60 in 8. Would be nice if it was like a second faster than the 2.0 to make it worth while
@@stevenjames1138 Even the 2022 Corolla hybrid with only 105 lb ft of torque and 121 hp was able to beat the Corolla with 1.8 liter engine in a drag race. This new 2023 Corolla hybrid with 134 hp and 156 lb ft of torque will beat the 2 liter Corolla for sure.
@@braetonwilson4296 I hope you’re right, but it sure seemed slow. More like the Prius than the latest Corolla with the 2 liter engine. If it is around 7 seconds to 60 (like what Tom mentioned above), then I’d be very interested. But if it’s more like a 10-second car (or worse), then I won’t be interested at all. I don’t need a race car, but I don’t want to have to worry about merging or passing on the highway. I fear this hybrid Corolla will be another appliance to get from point A to B. A very reliable and fuel efficient appliance, of course, but also slow and boring to drive. A little fun goes a long way.
I was thinking of getting a hybrid for a daily. This may do the trick. Is Honda coming out with a hybrid for the Civic here in the States?
Yes. We just don't know when it's coming. Europe already has the Honda Civic hybrid. We're waiting to hear when our spec is coming to the states.
Just bought this car. It's insane. If you're on the fence, don't be. Of course, refuse to pay more than MSRP
Just bought a new SE. Pretty happy with it
Another great review! Yes, I agree that there should've been a red line on the side mirrors.
I wish they had a option of adding heated seats and fog lights (latter nice to have not must have)

Hey Joe, just a suggestion, can we also get a conversion on Miles/gallon to L/Km
Why not use the 2L with this new hybrid powertrain? The 2L is more efficient than the 1.8L and it's 30HP more powerful.
Aw man I was hopeful this was a sedan version of the new GR Corolla. I can’t do hatchbacks but I’m all for sport sedans.

It's weird to see Toyota giving their hybrid cars AWD with a sporty look on the exterior and luxury sport on their new crown hybrid. It's a bit awkward.
I was hoping they would use the more powerful 2.0l engine now I’ll have to stick with the regular one
I always scratch my head though when I hear about the Raav4 prime hybrid. The 0-60 on that suv is great. Why cant they put that exact setup inside their sedans so that we not only get the mpg but the power too.
So is it going to be CVT not e-CVT for 2023 ? I hope not 😱 and 140 hp for 1.8 version
I was wondering the same. If you go on Toyota's website, it says (ECVT) for both the SE AWD and XLE.
Nice review keep up the good work Joe
This makes a lot of sense. Not into the EV evolution just yet. It looks terrific. I like to take the weekend trips to SF and Vegas from LA.
Great car, great design. Just wished they tuned it to have hp to about 150, that would been perfect
Don't get up hung up on the hp. It has 156 lb ft of torque which is a lot for such a lightweight car. It's going to feel quick.
