I'm currently studying my 4th year of medicine from home. Teachers basically send a tone of papers and documents for us to read, it's ridiculous.
This video gets to the point and teaches you what you _need_ to know. You earned my like and subscription.

I just found your video on pseudo gout and found it so very informative. Thank you so much!
My husband has been dealing with the for over 3 years and wakes up every single day in pain. The first flare up he could not even move his wrist and i took him to the emergency worried he broke a tendon. They found no breaks in X-rays and wrapped it and told us to contact a hand dr. We did. He diagnosed psuedo gout and gave him a cortisone shot and a script for indomethican. First shot worked a few months - went back for a second and it lasted a month if that. Based on your video, i can see since he is only 39 years old we should have the fluid in his wrist tested for underlying issues that are causing the psuedo gout. Can you please give me any direction?! I would appreciate any help you can provide: you are incredibly knowledgeable clearly! Thank you!

Why is pseudogout asymmetrical when it is a inflammatory disease?

Good video. However, telling people to believe that pseudo gout can be (just) in the knee is a little misleading! I have recently had my parathyroid gland removed due to Hyperparathyroid diagnosis. I have been hit with pseudo gout for the second time. Both times in my feet triggered by minor injuries. Not ankle, not knee.

I think he may be incorrect about the big toe not being effected.
I have had the same experience and have had it in my knee and wrists and big toe joint, so I am quite certain it can also affect the big toe joint.

I had a case of gout about a year ago. The office did a blood test for uric acid and nothing came up. I assume it was pseudogout even though it was in my right big toe. After listening to this presentation I thought it could not be pseudogout since it was in my big toe. So what else could it have been ? I was treated with steroids and it was some of the worst pain I had ever had in my life. I was better in a week or two but I am wondering what it could have been ?

So, I had the doctor draw crystals out of my toe (horrifying experience) and he said I had pseudogout, not gout. They just assumed it was gout and treated me for occasional flare-ups for a few years. When none of my bloodwork coincided with gout levels, they did the needle and found it was calcium crystalized on in my toe joint. Do I need a new Dr or are there exceptions to the rule? I eat very healthy - meat once a month, 13 servings of fruit and veg a day, only whole grains, very low fat, no processed sugar, and a minimum of 1.5 gallons a day due to digestive issues. I don't know if you still monitor this, but I'd like to get your opinion.

      Hey 👋 Tony,
I appreciate your comment very much! It must have been hard to go through all of this!
It’s up to you whether you want to see a new doctor or not…Needle aspiration for gout/pseudogout is rarely done clinically as first step (in real life, not on exam questions). Since I wasn’t there from the beginning, I can’t judge the situation.
As for your diet, it’s wonderful that you are mindful of what you eat, but that doesn’t guarantee that you won’t get sick.
      Best of luck to you!
