Nicely done! For anyone else interested in building something custom, just follow these tips: 1) You NEED a resonator on these Honda V6s to avoid rasp. I recommend atleast 8" usable area straight through resonators, assuming you have the pre cats. Stock res is 18" long. Im currently running a Vibrant 1790 (9.5" long bottle). Zero Rasp. I also used an 8" cherry bomb with no rasp. I tried a 6.5" dynomax mini-bullet, and there was no rasp 90% of the time. 2) You NEED a muffler to cut down drone. I personally cant stand it. Stock rears will eliminate ALL drone (provided pre cats are there). Deleting rears will give you a massive headache when you cruise around the lower RPMs. However, keeping the rears limits all the volume potential. Car isnt loud enough tbh. A compromise for little dorne but a good amount of sound is to keep the mid muff, but delete the rears. Few people have had good success with this. A stage 4 exhaust on TLs deletes mid-muffler and the resonator, but keeps rears. Tried this. ZERO drone, but a good amount of ricey rasp! 3) 3rd cat and mid-muffler dont do much. 3rd cat delete makes the sound like 5% more throatier, but no effect on volume. Also no CEL and it will pass emissions bc there are the pre cats. its just an extra. For mid-muff, deleting it just by itself will make very very little difference. So you can safely delete the cat and mid muff. I personally have settled on a valve cutout. It lets me be loud when i want, but close it up when i need quiet. Setup: 3rd cat delete, vibrant res, valve in place of mid-muff, rear mufflers. when valve is open, a good amount of the noise bypasses the mufflers creating nice volume and tone. It also goes through the resonator, so there is no rasp whether open or closed. When closed, the exhaust goes through the rears and is silent. Perfect for crusiing.
I can agree with you except for the need of a resonator...I've discovered with this large APEXi muffler you can avoid having to use a resonator even with RV6 hfpc and catless PLM j-pipe :) I get just the right amount of loud with the ability to go hybrid when cops appear.
i have a 08 TL with rv6 HFPC"s and rv6 v3 long tube j pipe. i have no mid or rear mufflers and a dynomax resonator 24215. it is very raspy around 3-4k rpm what should i do to elimante the rasp. should i get the ultra quiet resonator and swap my dynomax? any input helps
@@erikvelazquez9486 try Dynomax 24235. A longer res should help absorb more of that rasp from the HFPC and j pipe. The ultra quiet will fix ur issues, but it may dampen everything else and not have that growl. Any longer res should help including from vibrant, borla, etc. Another thing that will work is a cherry bomb, go for something like 18” Body or so
Couple pointers, it still has that high pitch honda buzz, you certainly need another resonator, just a bottle style vibrant resonator. Ideally you want an aftermarket manifold and a true dual j pipe to an x pipe with its own set of ultra quiet resonators, but you don’t care for the dual tips so i’d just get aftermarket headers
Glad to see another 3G TL running the APEXi ws muffler not a common choice! Making the switch to single exit using trubendz 3" kit was a night and day difference for me compared to when I ran dual exit Borla S-type using OEM 2.25" piping. Like to say this APEXi muffler allows you to run no resonator as I had a Vibrant UQ 3" res installed when I first went single exit. Eventually I removed the Vibrant res as I felt the car was too quiet! Currently I run the APEXi muffler with RV6 gen 2 v3 hfpc and PLM j-pipe using 3" piping from j-pipe. There is zero drone just the perfect amount of rasp to establish dominance on the road lol...soon gutted hfpc to shoot flames with Hondata tune
Very nice, beautiful set up too... I have a similar set as yours except I went with 3in from trubendz and 1059 vibrant muffler and 3in ultra quiet... I love it!
Question bro with the 3inch from trubendz how to you make it for your j-pipe bc doesn’t the j-pipe come 2.5 inch? I wanna get the 3inch trubendz just scared of fitment
This exhaust setup is CHEAPER than the current aftermarket cat back exhausts. So if you're planning to replace your exhaust, and you're a decent welder, you could build a cat back exhaust for MUCH CHEAPER using similar parts
I’m a teen what do you recommend I should do to make my Acura Tl type s 07 louder. And still pass O2 test. I want a loud start hopefully and get my car loud before prom. It’s my senior year so go big or go home. Rn I’m looking at changing the j pipe and mid muf delete but don’t know what to do for my exhaust system. I’m new to car modding and have no experience.
I dont know your state regulations, because every state is different. If you want to make your car JUST LOUD, and no performance added, I'd recommend muffler deletes (not sure if its legal in your state though). Its the cheapest option to get a car louder. And you don't touch anything with emissions
@@thecarfiend11 well I’m in IL by loud I mean like a low town growl when you accelerate. That’s what I’m aiming for I don’t care about price I mean cars are my passion so.
It's not the best car to learn. The clutch (in stock form) is a bit weird, and it does have small issues, right out the gate. But most of those issues can be alleviated. To learn, I'd probably recommend a Civic
My total cost of parts is under $700. You don't have to get the same parts that I did. My Apexi muffler was the most costly part out of the whole exhaust build. And you don't necessarily need a V-band clamp. If you can weld, you could be under $500 easy
so i have rv6 j pipe , dynomax resonator and mid muffler delete , so that sound it start making after installing j pipe is rasp?? sorry first time getting exhaust work done i thought it sounded like a rattle at first

From what I understand, you can reduce rasp with a resonator. The Ultra quiet resonator does wonders! For exhaust setups, You really don't know until you try it out

It sounds awesome man. Way better than your last setup. Good work!
I did notice, and I think you acknowledged, that there is still a slight rasp. Do you think the cause/source is from the Tsudo pre-cats?
I believe so. Those PreCats adds a ton of rasp
@ 0:54… I’m listening on surround sound. That is something craaazzyy🔥
All sound clips sound different vs live in person. But you can get a good estimate on how it would sound

Sick bro! I'm loving the Apexi so far
Nice setup. Im running a whole custom 3 inch in my 4th gen TL with a 3 inch apexi noir and vibrant ultra quiet.
You did good by getting that vibrant gets rid of rasp & deep tone 🔥

With the exhaust ,did it offset the subframe or did you remove the subframe? Please let me know
no offset of subframe no removal needed i have the same setup

What do you mean by "keep sound but get the duals"?
@@thecarfiend11basically your setup but with duals. how could it be done? a cylinder style muffler in the middle with the resonator maybe?
TruBendz has piping that splits into dual. Basically the OEM piping

How is the low end torque with that setup? I was planning on doing a single exit 2.5 exhaust as well for my tl

I appreciate the concern. Don't worry I have plenty of content. But time is always a factor. Spent some much needed time with the family
