awesome biotope tank, love the giant pleco chewing on the cucumber (sound of scrape scrape scrape), although I am a bit worried about your arrowanas jumping out. but maybe because they all have drop eye they will try to jump down instead. 😜
I mean he was just snakin away on that thing 😅 and when he did the close up it stopped and stared like, omg what're you doing? have you come to steal my cucumber! 😳
Just a piece of advice. Arowana get spooked easily. With that being said if they do, they are for sure jumping out of your tank. All it takes is one of your peacock bass to nudge it and it goes flying into death. Nice tank though.
Tyler Steier agreed... 7 years without a Problem and 2weeks ago... I lost my Alpha male that way. Simply getting rough with the beta male, he jumped too far on the lenght during the night.
Eltofi1 sorry to hear that. There is folklore that says of an arowana dies it's because it's owner was going to have something bad happen to them so they take their own life instead. Maybe it happened for a reason, maybe it was an accident. Either way it sucks.
no. I bred them for pleasure in 2016-2017. Then my male killed 3 females in a row and I gave him away to the same public aquarium. Now I have 6 females between 14 and 26 months old. A bit young to consider breeding. Anyway, from Switzerland, it's quite difficult to export (CITES and mandatory Capacity Certificate for the buyer). Let's wait a few years (2020) and then, I'll add a male in this group.
They COULD be capable... IF they were not completely lazy and fat... I had a sliding doors system during the first 4 years... and from 2 years on, I simply took it off, cause I proved the Silvers are not "wild" enough to jump and hunt... even when I feed with frogs or crickets or live stock, they barely take a look at the upper part... the residual risk is affordable... based on the last 2 years... But I admit there is a risk... which I'm ready to take...
Arowanas are always fine... well the 2 last of them (a pair)... Considering the cost, it's a wrong question... because the answer depends on where you live in... and which level of excellence you want... I could have done much better... But as Switzerland is madly too expensive for any project, I have made a low tech version... back in 2011, it cost me around 15,000 € (insulation of the room, humidity extractor, compliant electrical system, concrete wall, by-pass from the house heating system directly in the basement of the tank, glass, waterproof resin, and so on...)
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx pretty sure you're right... BUT... as I have Panaque schaeferi and Acanthicus adonis, it's simply impossible to use acrylic. the teeth of the Loricarridae are simply destroying the acrylic. After only a few weeks, my "front glass" would have been white from scratching teeth.

as explained on the MFK topic, it's a drop-by-drop permanent system, with an overflow going directly to waste waters. Weekly, I do a back-wash on the mechanical filter (around 3'000 liters) and clean up the bottom of the mud... and the drop-by-drop system refills it, slowly...
agreed... but not much more than a strong water move in the nature... they don^t bother... at least it doesn't make a change for breeding, feeding and living
now that would be a good test; "they don't bother" i guess to us we can think that but we really don't know the impact of noises in an aquarium. That would be interesting experiment.
Agreed again, we'll never know for sure. What I was pointing is that Cichla, Astronotus, Myleus and even Osteoglossum had spawnings in this tank. They grew up better that normally, faught for territory, for food too, and after 6 years of this noice, are still doing fine.
not doubting you at all...i noticed this myself on my tanks and the noise it puts out if you stick your ear against the glass. LOL my fish are all growing up fine as well. Congrats on your monsters in either case
This is like ASMR but for a fish keepers eyes.

I love the Uarus
Very impressive tank!
IF,You remove the Myleus..you can plant up that tank..Arowana and Cichla under water lilies in bloom. Just a start with what could be done...
Nice kelberies!!! Nice setup. Someday I like to build something like this.
that pleco looks very happy with his cucumber :3

Amazing tank!
How much would that tank cost?
Way too much in Switzerland. I stopped it in 2022 May and from this week it’s under water again… new videos of restarting it soon
Nice tank & fish
Au top tout ça ! Il fait quelles dimensions déjà ton bassin ?
J'aime bien votre aquarium et les poissons sont tellement chanceux de pouvoir y vivre^c^
ça, c'est un gentil commentaire... merci.

Trop classe!
Are those black arowanas ? Nice tank.
no, silver arowana (Osteoglossum biccirhosum)
Awesome tank my friend!.. I’m sorry if you already answered it, but what specific type of peacock bass are those?… They’re beautiful
Cichla kelberi. I don't have them any more, they moved to a public aquarium cause they were eating each first born from my Stingrays.
Eltofi1 Sorry to hear that, but thank you for the response. Hope you’re having some luck now with the stingrays. Do you breed them for sale?
no. I bred them for pleasure in 2016-2017. Then my male killed 3 females in a row and I gave him away to the same public aquarium. Now I have 6 females between 14 and 26 months old. On this very Friday, 3 babies (1 foot TL) Osteoglossum silver and 5 "fry" Cichla temensis (3'') will join this pond.
the arowanas are fully capable of flying out of the open top

fair enough =)
Man, those arowanas were just beautiful. Nice tank, what was the cost of the total setup?

@@Eltofi1 An all acrylic 3,000 liter Aquarium is about the same cost as your 10,000 liter so you saved a huge amount.

Salutations de Sotchi. :) Très bel aquarium! Maintenant, je rêve de cette :) Vous pouvez faire la vidéo système de filtrage? Très intéressant.

Hey, what L number is that Panaque?
Palanque schaeferi, 4 of them, biggest is around 2 feet tall yet.
Good 💗💗💗❤
540 x 160 x 125 (en cm, LxlxH). Si je remplis à ras le renfort inox, ça fait plus de 12'000 litres. Ici, on est à un peu plus de 10'000 litres.
that cucumber with screwdriver in it is kind of creepy
ARE THESE WHITE AROWANAS?
Osteoglossum biccirhosum, yes...
+Eltofi1 would u sell it?
+Tank Genius how much for one?
nope... I'll get another female in September... win-win exchange with a public aquarium in my area
+Eltofi1 i can pay u
Je trouve aussi 😜
How do you do a water change on such a huge tank?

poor fishies has to hear that aweful pump!

Oh and stingray breedings took place into this tank too.
