Is this the 5 speed or 6 speed tranny? I'm assuming it is 6 speed since you're filling it to 2.4 qt vs 2.0 qt. If it is a 5 speed It is not overfilled. According to VW, the fill plug is not used once the transmisison in installed in the car. Note: The fill plug located on the side of the transaxle is used to fill the transaxle only while it is out of the vehicle. Due to the angle of the engine, once the transaxle is installed, the fluid level is above the fill plug. You actually fill oil through the back up switch port once the switch is removed.
New Owner of a 2014 GLI with 50k miles. Sounds like I have a chatter at low rpms from 1000-2000. Sounds like it's coming from the transmission area. Do you think this will take the noise away?
If you gravity feed, turn the bottle upside down and put a drill hole in the top (bottom) so the air pressure can push the oil out. If you get what I mean. Or poor in to a funnel.
I have a 2017 VW Jetta GLI as well and I can’t seem to find the fill plug. Is it possible that my manual transmission doesn’t have one when yours does?? Thanks in advance.
@@robertchameliii7285 ok, I’m hearing that if this is the case, you can remove the reverse gear switch and fill with 2.4 quarts through the hole. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
my 2nd gear synchro is worn out I believe. All other gears are smooth. Currently I'm nursing in the 2nd gear every time keeping the rpms low. I tried VW dealer fluid and the transmission acts the same exact way after change. Will this fluid help any ? Is this meant to help with synchros ?
@@AutoScholarwithMrB thanks for the inputs!!. I can’t say conclusively the synchro is damaged, before I try a Hail Mary, is this fluid compatible with the 2013 Jetta 5 speed tranny ?
I need help changing my 2017 jetta gli dsg automatic transmission fluid and filter, does this process work for mine as well ? If not what way you recommend me doing it ?
Will this service help with transmission slippage in higher gears? I'm at about 82k miles and it's never been replaced. My 4-6 gears have been slipping when I try and get on them. Hoping it's not a bad clutch but I figured this is a cheaper way to find some answers. Let me know!
hi, i have a 2011 jetta 2.5 with 223,000 km and i want to change the transmission oil. It is a manual 5 speed. is it the same process? what oil do you recommend and how many liters should i put in? i am in canada.
Hello @@AutoScholarwithMrB. Is the same process for a 2011 2.5L manual transmission 5 speed? what oil do you recommend and how many liters? Many thanks in advance!
Precisely the video I've been looking high and low for! Thank you soooo much, you don't know how much you've helped me!!
Glad you found me! Good luck with your repair and thanks for watching.
Any other fluid changes for VW's??? Got a 2013 Jetta S 5-Speed MT

what about 2022+ manual transmission? same procedure?
Awesome video does the vehicle have to be evenly positioned with the jack stands when checking the transmission fluid level?
Most definitely. So lower the front or raise the rear before doing so. Thanks for watching!
This transmission does not have a filter, correct? I have a 2014 GLI Edition 30 which I believe has the same Gen 3 motor as this.
No filter
Can you tell me where the vehicle speed sensor is on a 2015 6 speed?

Is this the same process for a 2019 Jetta 6 speed manual?
Fuck yeah manual jettas!
Don't yo need to warm up the car to check for the fluid?
No, that is for the automatic transmission
Have a 2016 Jetta manual 5 speed transmission. When is it recommended to change the transmission fluid? Can not find the answer in the owner's manual.
I could not find one for mine either, so I would say 80-100k miles would be ideal.
I have a 2017 VW Jetta GLI as well and I can’t seem to find the fill plug. Is it possible that my manual transmission doesn’t have one when yours does?? Thanks in advance.
I’ve never seen one without one. What country are you in and I can try to research it?
I’m in the US. The fill plug is hard to miss, but I swear it’s not there on my transmission.

@@AutoScholarwithMrB Okay. Thank you for looking into this. Where is that exactly? Do you know what the torque spec is for that as well?
@@robertchameliii7285 it should be right above where a filler would be, not sure the torque spec but probably not a whole lot.

I believe so. Most VWs are like this. Capacity may be different but procedure is about the same. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoScholarwithMrB Excellent, thanks for the reply and great video!
'21 GLI doesn't have the fill port in that location
I believe on that one you use the reverse light sensor hole as the fill spot.
@@AutoScholarwithMrB There is also a plastic plug right above that. Could that also be used as a fill hole?
I have this exact car lol what is the recommended mileage of doing this?
Hard to say, as it isn’t listed in the manual. I would do it around 80k miles. Thanks for watching!
Is it same gearbox of Passat 1.6 tdi?
I am unsure, we do not get that engine or transmission in the country I live in.
I can't find any videos for a 2019 Jetta S 1.4T 8 speed. Anyone have any ideas? 70,000 miles and I can;t find info anywhere.
Poke a hole in the bottom next time and it will go faster!!!
