We put in two olive trees four years ago. They were only 1 metre high at most at the time. Since then ill health got in the road to spend any time in the garden so no pruning at all has been done. They are now about 4 metres tall. Apart from the main trunk there are probably 4 to 5 branches have sprung up from the base of the tree. I have been wondering what best to do to now prune them back and I think I’m confident enough to follow your advice. I will cut all outer branches right back to ground level and cutting the main trunk to below where there are four branches coming out, so opening the centre up.
