    The Torture of Comacine is actually bad ass. I love Plains. That song is sick.

    Agreed. It's important to be told how to hold the pick and which frets can do it, but the rest you have to do on your own. I'm an average guitarist but after about 10 minutes of trying I got it and now have my own technique on how to pinch harmonic. Practice, guys!

  • @yoyodunno

    Just keep practicing and get a feel for where the spots are. Also after you get really good at it then you don't have to get the spots perfectly and can do pinches on most parts of the string.
    And damn that vibrato is awesome for pinches, I gotta try that!

    to sum it all up. what matters
    ur picking, the action on the neck, active pickups do help, amp with alot of gain but not to muddy and some basic EQ adjustments. thats it.

    he doesnt have a twitch with the switch. its just so he doesnt have all the feed back while hes trying to talk. he turns his knobs down for neck pickup so it can act as a killswitch to stop noise.

  • @xttocx

    because the de-noiser is for my post ... it's in the loop and designed to shut up the hiss you get from turning your gain above 5... mines on 7 so i need that extra STFU unit. haha and the ISP is for pre... so after guitar and before head for tight clean live use.

  • @Laszlo12

    i use alot of oppositing, like low mids on the amp and high mids on the EQ Pedal... or vicer verse...
    Just get a Behringer EQ Pedal.. £14 from an online place called Thomann... it's sick...
    Just mess around... i tent to have...
    Gain = 7
    Low/Bass = 7
    Mid = 9
    Treble = 6
    Presence = 5
    Resonance = 7
    But i got an EQ Pedal with roaring Mids and Trebles to give me that Kick, and to hush it all back down i use the Behringer SNR 2000 which is a multichannel 'De-Noiser'
    Which is awesome.

    its a one finger Pinch... Index finger, and its a fast Vibrato (String bend) and its on Fret 9 of the G string in E (Standard)

  • @noneactive
    @noneactive 16 років тому

    Yes you can do them on any fret (its just harder to get it sound good on lower strings/frets). I cant do them very well either, i would say its a lot about the guitar (mainly pickups), cheap guitars cant do it (atleast they dont sound as good). Make sure you have a lot of gain and treble/tone turned up, some Reverb or Delay, and you also need some volume as it wont sound good on bedroom volumes ;).

  • @xttocx
    @xttocx  17 років тому

    that's just my style man, it's not for everyone it just gets more pressure on the string in that you get a faster and clearer Vibrato (String Bend)

    I play Melodic Death Metal and use pinch harmonics sparingly. When I do, I have a "narrower" vibrato than what you demo. To me it is more important to be able to strick the string with some force and have it hold true pitch. Even with a 60 (in Bb) I have to 'pussy foot' around with the low string to keep it in pitch.

  • @Scguitarguy

    i use a standard 52 - 10 but instead of using the 52... i buy a seperate 49 instead... and use that .. bcoz its smaller and you get more give for the pinch harms.

  • @Schmendlow
    @Schmendlow 17 років тому

    i just wanted to ask you how long you have been trying to create squealies like those in your video?

    u need thicker strings to tune to drop c, coz thinner strings cant hold the tension of low tunings, think off why a bass guitar has super thick strings but is an octave lower than guitar?

  • @xttocx
    @xttocx  17 років тому

    Just Add More Middle That you like... lets say you like Mid on 4.. have mid on 5 or even 6... and as for your gain, if you're gonna use alot of it then get a Noise Supressor... and s'all good man!
    x

  • @xttocx
    @xttocx  15 років тому

    Dude, Drop C against 46's is a perfect combo... its your Intonation right?? intonation can sometimes put the harmonic range out of the fretted note so even tho you may be hitting the pinch perfect the guitar isnt sounding it because its not there :S check online for sorting out ur intonation

    Right..
    'Itallbee' is right... what tuning are you in?
    if it's anything above C it's not happening like you might hope... there are certain frequencys that are only picked up by the lower string tones... it's hard... i'll message you later if you like and explain in full dude... message if me if you want..

  • @xttocx
    @xttocx  16 років тому

    do you mean your left hand? your fret hand? it may be where about INSIDE the fret your finger is sat... try and get as close to the 'right hand side' of the fret (Closest to your pickups for a righthanded guitarist)

    Btw, did you say you use a 49 for the low B in drop B tuning?
    That seems really really light. I use a 70 for the Bb in drop Bb. I have used a 56 for B, but even that seems too low to me on a Gibson scale guitar (I play a ESP viper... nice LP btw.)

  • @xttocx
    @xttocx  17 років тому

    yeah because kids complain about not having balls when they play a hardcore Zero, so to cure this, you keep the big 42 and 30 2nd and 3rd down... and on the top get a slightly lighter string (49) so theirs slightly less tension so you have more room to move and throw that beautiful pinch harm dude!

    I guess the problem is my equipment, cause i'm playing with a bass amp and with bass distortion (i know what you think, but i can't afford a good guitar amp yet ^^)

    its not about pickups dude all you need is a balls load of gain loads of treble, a sharp pick and to spend some time findin as he said on the video the "sweet spot" on your guitar its usually closer to your rhythm pickup if you have your switch that way but it can be anywhere its personal preferance!! jus have our switch on the rhythm side!!

    tbh, any music in Drop D wouldn't need this kind of Slamming tone because the nature of the tuning itself isn't that heavy if you get me... but if you wished, just get yourself a good head and cab.. head maybe Peavey, Krank, Engl, Diamond head... and Cab, Marshall, Engl, Mesa.. for warmth... You need money in this game... so it's ideal to ask for your next 9 christmas's in one this year dude!
