They make a lot of mistakes because they're underpaid. And those "mistakes" are just processing errors. For example, they didn't polish the surfaces of the metal which may cause delamination in future. If we were just willing to pay a bit more, these guys could pump put pattern welded steel like hotcakes. It's such a shame that such good craftsmen are being forced to work under such taxing conditions with such obscenely high quotas.

Not really, on Forged in Fire they get you to make ridiculous challenges that nobody is used to making. These guys are fast because they do the same routine every day and they know it well.
