Exactly, by the way, at that time (and maybe even now), Eddie Hall was/is a bit stronger than Thor in shoulder press (this Viking press is similar, despite they use legs, but same as log lift...), so if Eddie Hall has a higher maximum, it's obvious it can do more reps at a lower weight (if in shape with full power & no injury which could lower the performance) , that's physics.
whittyjd actually the real event that fucked Thor over was the tire flip which was originally meant to be the tire flip and drag. Hall placed 5th in the tyre flip and would’ve placed lower if the drag was included as hall is only good at static lifting.

I like Thor as an athlete and as a good family guy now that you see him more on UA-cam etc but there was a time, around 2017-18 that he had a reputation for unsportsmanlike behaviour. I seem to remember this Viking press against Eddie and also a deadlift event against Brian Shaw. The reality was that he lacked the static strength to compete with Shaw, Hall and Zavickas for about 5 years or so in the mid 2010's. Now, he is dominant though and he deserves all the accolades that he has earned.

The biggest thing holding Thor back is that parade of yes men he always brings with him. He shoulda contested this call and he should of contested the deadlift call later on in the same competition but his yes men are always stroking his ego "you're the best you're unbeatable" so crucial calls are missed until they're too little too late

1:21, really doesn't look like double dipping in slow mo... you can see his knees were bent the whole way after the initial push and don't bend again when pressing, they just lock out a bit late and he leans forward.
It was a bit harsh but rules are rules. His knees needed to be locked out before his heels hit the ground. By that point his elbows were already locked out overhead so the last portion of the rep was done entirely by his quads which makes the rep a lot easier. It's a bit like a clean and jerk, no one fails the rep after locking it out overhead because it isn't hard to get out of a half lunge.
I’ve seen several videos discussing this. He received several warnings. I the video that that talks about the debriefing Thor even gets the Reff to review his technique. Eddie has this in the bag. Thor was struggling Eddie could’ve kept going. Look at their composites and forms as they do the perform the reps.

I'm fairly new to this, but since he's so much taller and has longer arms, isn't it harder for Thor to move it all the way up? Or put differently, if you measured the distance they move it each time and added them togehter, wouldnt he have moved the same weight further with his 14 reps than Hall with his 15?

It's definitely more difficult for Thor to have perfect form given his height but that's a tradeoff he has to live with for being the size he is
