The mechanics/the working part is so fascinating! To the machinery, to the farmers, to the cows, the person who picks up the milk, etc. is so fascinating, and intriguing. I never lived on a farm, or even ever been to a farm, let alone, inside a milking parlor. But, this video was so interesting, and insightful to watch! Us consumers, that's has never worked on a farm, will never fully understand, how much we take for granted, on how much effect goes on, "behind the scenes" per-say, for us to be able to, just walk into a grocery store, and buy a gallon of milk off the shelves. Wow! So impressive, seriously! Thank you for creating, and sharing this video with us. But, furthermore, thank, you, your family, and everyone else, that provide food, for our consumption!! May God continue to Bless each, and everyone for the hard work, and the dedication, that goes in to complete the final product. Btw, your videography/cinema in every video I've watched of yours so far, is 👌🏽👌🏽👍🏽👌🏽👍🏽 Your production is an art!!
I used to work at a dairy when I was in my teens during the summer. People don't realize how much there is to get a jug of milk on the store shelf. Awesome video!!!
Another brilliant video Jan. A great insight into the hard work of a dairy farmer and their milking parlour. Thank you for sharing. We're loving the great shots of our Automatic Dipping & Flushing system.
Really interesting. It's easy to take it for granted what has to happen before I get the milk in my fridge. Fascinating! Thanks for what you farmers do. Appreciate it.
I really enjoyed the tour. I was raised on a dairy farm in south central Kansas. We milked 30-60 cows twice a day depending on the season or how the crop year was or looked to be. You tank is HUGE! Obviously you need it for your numbers. Very interesting to see such a large dairy program. Thank you for sharing.
This is an excellent tour! Thank you for being so thorough and explaining what goes on in the basement! I'm a food science professor and we used to be able to take tours of a dairy farm. This is the next best thing!!! What a gem of a video.
The more things change the more they stay the same LOL 40 some years ago I did the same job same equipment Co. Delaval in a double 6 herring bone parlar for a 100 cow herd here in NE Conn USA. Other than some new automation it's still the same job This is a great video and brought back some great memories . First glance tells it all, if I dropped my sandwich I would not hesitate to bend over and pick it up and keep eating LOL . Everything sparkles just like it should, I'm glad I found your channel, Pride in your farm shines through young man. You will be seeing more of me LMAO Thanks for a great video
@@waterbug85 You know that is a hard question to answer cuz dairy farming has come sooooo far - lets start with genetics - when I was milking our cows produced about 70 Lbs twice a day, just looking at their udders these cows are giving a lot more than that, I would guess 100/110 lbs twice a day,it's hard to tell on a pipeline milking system,we milked into 100# jars. Next would be automation in feeding and manure management LOL Just that little feed sweeper thingy reduces feed waste to almost nothing we had to clean out the manger every 4 to 6 weeks. Genetics in the feed that is grown today and I will say that my old boss would not have grown GMO corn to feed our cows. We were the first farm to have a liquid manure tank and truck mounted tankers to spread it on our fields, all the new systems for poop spraying just blow me away LOL
@@nectcruiser Thanks for giving it a go. Besides the cows utter giving more milk, you say feed mixers and manure management. Interesting, thanks for playing. Anybody else?
Good Lord, $3.85 for a 2 litre milk is the best bargain of the century! I cannot believe how complex, modern, clean and safe your system is! Thank you!
Its rally a great thing to all of you young farmers coming up whether you are in dearie, beef, pork, corn, wheat, and other small grains the future looks really bright. God bless you all.
And I thought you just opened a glass door and took out a gallon of milk at the store. Knew there was much more but had no idea it was this involved. Jan, this was an excellent video. You explained the process in detail. Keep up the good work!!!!!
I never knew how much work and equipment goes into a milk farm. Quite breath taking. So next time you purchase a gallon of milk don’t complain about the cost!
Wow! That was not only educational, but it was also interesting and fun to watch. Amazing what all goes into sanitizing and keeping everything squeaky clean. Great Video Jan! thank you!
I couldn't count how many on each side ? How many are you milking ? 3 times a day ? You do a very good job at explaining how things work !! Great job !!!!!
Very interesting, super clean parlor, the amount of technology is fascinating, makes me understand why the farm is so big, takes a lot of milk to balance the books. What is the average # of productive milking years for the operation’s cows?
Great, great video! You are so thorough with the explaining of things. My question is the new mothers and taking her milk off to deliver colostrum to the calves. Does that one panel reroute that one cow's milk when programmed to do so?
This is Sooo Cool! You are Soo informative, and laid back! WOW! I knew there was alot to the dairy process, but NOT this much! My question is, how long does it take to "train" the cows to walk down and correctly position themselves in the milking parlor ???
Hi Jan .. I hope you have approached the companies that built your barn, vehicles that are on your farm, and machines that milk the ladies. You have a gift of conversationally educating people. I know you are super busy with your work and these videos though, you should capitalize on businesses paying you to talk about their product. When you can explain them just or better than their own sales people that is a reason for you to be compensated
holy smokes its a big operation , smaller farms must be running flat out all day long ! i am sure you have have regular visits from inspections from health people . that would be interesting to see the work they would do at your farm .
Wow thanks for the tour such a sweet setup and so knowledgeable of your entire operation so amazing thanks for taking time out of your already busy day
What happens to the cold water coming into the plate cooler...upon existing, is it used in heating something or expelled into a drain? How often does the parlour get a complete deep cleaning(i.e. walls, overhead stainless steel electronic boards) in a year? Great video...you a good job explaining the milking operation and mechanics.👍
Way over my head but very interesting and informative. When I grew up on the farm we had 6 or 8 milk cows and we milked them all by hand. Guess what my chores were before and after school. LOL
you are awesome man. I have been watched almost all your video since last 2 months. it seems you are making amateur dairy farmer into professional dairy farmer. keep going..
Would be nice if there is a second video on the computer system that is attached o the milking parlor and how that system is used in management of the farm.

I am impressed. We are going to be starting up a goat dairy in Rye. I have a questions out the vacuum. Is the vacuum at the same pressure throughout the vacuum system?
Who knew how high tech a dairy farm could be! Imagine back 100 or 200 years ago, how different a dairy farm would be. There would be far more manual labor, that’s for sure.
My grandparents started farming w/ milk cows 90+ years ago. I remember 70+ years ago. . . oh my, we did hand milking/ surge milkers/ 'fancy' hip scissor clamps to stop kicking/ yucky wet tails slapping us/ never ever dreamed of such modern streamlined, efficient, clean processes! I am very impressed with this dairy farm! Thank you for sharing with this Oldie.
Susan S Thanks for sharing one of your memories from way back. Thats quite the difference. Imagine what your grandparents would think if they could go visit this farm. @@catherinelinton3444 They could never even imagine this modern dairy milking process! When they began, they did not have electricity- for themselves, much less the livestock. Everything was manual labor. This video was so interesting to watch.
Sure has changed from 64 years ago at the Dutch Sanitary Dairy, Los Angeles, CA. where we had four DeLaval vacuum milking cans and milkers, moved from cow to cow, and manually emptied into a milk receiver. We had to strip the cows by hand into pails, while sitting on milking stools. Each cow was hosed off after entering the parlor, and the manure was shoveled out after each dozen cows were milked. Like I said, sure has changed. 250 cow herd. Long gone. That's all luxury apartments now, part of the Marina Del Rey area. Johannes Van Veldthuijsen
