- Vitamix Review: BPA FREE Scam? Why I do not use Vitamix anymore. Vitamix comparison 5200 vs 2200.
SCIENTIFIC STUDY - INDEPENDENT:
The claim of "BPA Free" is according to the manufacturer, NOT according to several INDEPENDENT (as in not paid or influenced by the manufacturer) scientists.
There are several studies (US and European) that show that "BPA-Free" Tritan plastic leaches BPA and other toxic chemicals.

Check out the new Oster glass blender, very good blender, cost less than $70,
I used it for about 8 months and I highly recommend it. amzn.to/2m2xrlW (amazon affiliate link)
Although great that it's glass but how much power does it have? Does it do good to make smoothies?
I was wondering about this! My old Vitamix from the 1990's sat on a shelf and was almost never used until more recently, and when I began using it, it was flecking black flecks into the food, and soon after that was leaching stinky black motor oil into the food. Even the best of modern blenders/blender components have to be replaced every so often since parts degrade with age. I was going to trade in my old one for a discount on a new one, but not now. Thank you! The EA plastic as well as the company's former use of Teflon is disturbing. Most people buy Vitamixes for their health benefits, so Vitamixes containing toxic substances defeat their very purpose.
I believe they still use Teflon, I called and emailed requesting them to confirm that there is no Teflon in a new blenders blade assembly, BUT they could not confirm that. I suspect they might use a different color Teflon, so it is not visible in the water. Check out my new video Best Glass Blenders ua-cam.com/video/M83fKnHhvio/v-deo.html
Thank you! I appreciate your taking the time to help. I will check out your link.
I hate to mention this, but most cheaper stainless steel typically is made of a mixture of steel and nickel. Nickel is a known carcinogen and becomes unstable in stainless steel when exposed to any acidic food. Only high grade surgical stainless steel is low in nickel. It's very hard to find surgical grade stainless steel because it is very expensive.
Yikes.
So Dean, Do you know which blender is safe to use?
I am looking to buy a blender and all this information is very worrying. I mean upsetting even... Anyone?
S. v.d. Beek STAINLESS STEEL - I have reviewed several studies on stainless steel, the leaching of nickel is far bellow dangerous level. Humans consume, on a daily base, far more nickel through natural foods such as cocoa, soya beans, oatmeal, almonds, legumes and many other foods.
Currently I am using a Waring glass blender (no plastic on the bottom, and no "black specs" aka PTFE/teflon), affiliate link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004S8F8/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00004S8F8&linkCode=as2&tag=ecopeacef-20&linkId=5U62TVKIOLR7KTZR
The Waring glass blender is good blender, but it is not as big or powerful as Vitamix or the Waring Xtreme.
THANK YOU for trying to get the truth out here to the people reading the comments after reviewing this video. I commented earlier that there are different qualities of ss, and if she is selling a replacement container at a very reasonable price (as comments attest) then her product is as dangerous as the original. To provide a custom made stainless steel container of surgical grade would be cost prohibitive, but sadly too many don't do thorough enough research. I believe she believes, and I believe she means well, but I have yet to see competent scientific research on the grade of ss used in their for-profit replacement product.
+Em Meyer " her product is as dangerous as the original" Are you refering to some of my products as dangerous? Can you clirify this. I am NOT reviewing in this video any of my products.
Mother Jones just published an excellent article that describes testing whereby Tritan "BPA-Free" plastics (which is in VITAMIX, BLENDTEC, NINJA and other "BPA-free" blenders) leach estrogenic compounds, In fact, the main ingredient, TPP (triphenyl phosphate) , is even MORE estrogenic than BPA.

Those are conspiracy websites, not studies. Please link me to a real, non-biased source (preferably from google scholar) and I will actually consider your credibility.
***** Re: "not studies." I already provided link to the studies below the video!
Based on your comment it seems clear that you have neither watched my video in it's entirety nor have you reviewed all links I posted below the video.
Re: "Those are conspiracy websites" You have made a claim for which you have provided ZERO evidence for! As you stated, "Please link me to a real, non-biased source (preferably from google scholar) and I will actually consider YOUR credibility."
EcoPeaceful Alice E is correct in a sense. Many of the websites you use as a reference can be very bias and sources of some of these sites can be tied back to non-credible sources or inaccurate studies or studies to sale products. Much like your website. As BPA are horrible, choosing this topic to sale items on your site discredits you. The health movement sweeping across the USA is filled with misinformation, people trying to make a fast buck and snake oils. Many people talk about protecting their children from chemicals and toxins but do not have the first clue about what is really going on around the world and the frightening statistics. Almost every aspect and or contact we have with food, man made products, air, water and beliefs are toxic. You think Organic is safe from the store? They are sprayed almost 7x more than non-organic foods with carcinogens. The water you drink is filled with bacteria killing chemicals and as that might sound good......it kills your gut bacteria as well which is needed for proper digestion, brain function and more.
Roberto Joven
1.) Re: Many of the websites you use"...
>> I only provided 2 links in reference to the Eastman Tritan Plastic:
1 ARTICLE from MOTHER JONES and
1 study published in sciencedirect.com.
2.) Re: "websites you can be very bias and sources of some of these sites can be tied back to non-credible sources or inaccurate studies or studies to sale products"
Without fulfilling the burden of proof for your claim (accusation) are you expecting the reader to just accept what you are saying is the truth?
>> Can you back up your claims? Which site is "very bias", "non-credible" sources" and/or "inaccurate"?
3.) Re: "Much like your website."
>> Again, please provide details for your claims that my website is a "non-credible sources or inaccurate studies or studies to sale products"
I will correct any references if it can be proven inaccurate otherwise it will be considered as an attempt to "discredit" me without any proof.
4.) Re: "As BPA are horrible, choosing this topic to sale items on your site discredits you."
For this reason that "BPA are horrible" and also the plastic pollution reason I started my sewing business to provide better products (not just for myself ) to people who care about plastic pollution and do not want synthetic nut milk/ sprouting bags. Initially I researched plastic for myself, but to keep all the information just for myself I would consider to be selfish and useless. That is the reason I started my sewing business and made videos about Vitamix.
How do I discredit myself by sewing and selling USA grown organic cotton nut milk/sprouting bags and hemp (from the only GOTS certified factory) nut milk/sprouting bags?
As you might notice I did not promote my products on UA-cam and I did not make any video about my products yet, mostly because I believe that sharing my research about plastic blenders are bigger issue than selling my bags!
5.) Re: "You think Organic is safe from the store? They are sprayed almost 7x more than non-organic foods with carcinogens."
This is an example of using a Straw Man fallacy, since I never implied or made such a claim!
Do you have any valid evidence (and as you say, "credible sources and/or accurate studies") for me to review? If this is true I may make a video or write an article to expose this. We (my family) starting growing our own food mainly because organic produce often contains and/or is wrapped in non-compostable/non-biodegradable plastic. By growing our own food we will be able to reduce plastic consumption > plastic pollution > killing animals and contribute to creating better/cleaner environment.
***** A spoon that goes right through the carafe/shell of the blender and when she calls the company she gets an answer of "people call about this problem everyday" .. I think is proof in itself, and credible enough.
I appreciate you bringing your concerns about the plastic to light. I've tried only drinking waters that come in glass, but they're all fizzy, and sometimes I prefer still, but with flavor. But I find when I buy waters in plastic, I can taste the plastic. So I've stopped. But still, I buy so much food in plastic, that it seems this would just be one more exposure, and if I'm buying things in it, it's not much different. That's not saying I'm not frustrated, as you are, that they continue to sell this stuff. Until consumer awareness is heightened and alternatives are demanded, it's hard to do much. I could use a glass blender, like I've had. And since Vitamix heats things, the plastic seems like a really bad bet. I never heat anything in plastic. IDK, how bad this is long-term, and if this one additional exposure will matter much, given how much I am already exposed. Thank you for this information however. It makes me think about making more effort to avoid plastics period!
Many older KitchenAid blenders, such as the KSB5, have glass bowls. No BPA to worry about. They're not like a Vitamix, but they can perform very well for most tasks. The main issue with the old KitchenAid, is with the drive coupler: You want to start on "stir" speed every time, or else you run the risk of damaging that rubber part, having to deal with the chore of replacing this very commonly available part. You'll have to heat your vegetables after blending, if you want to make a hot soup, and it won't make a sherbet like a Vitamix will. I wish you the best of luck, because the newest blenders with the glass bowls tend to be low-end, offer low performance, and sell for under a hundred bucks.
Thank you for suggestion, Currently, I am using Oster glass blender and I like it very much! amzn.to/2m2xrlW (amazon affiliate link)
Excellent video. You just saved me hundreds of dollars & ingesting toxic substances, Thank You.
Wow I had no idea their plastic parts were not possible to recycle, they charge a fortune for their blenders.
Thank you so much for making this video, it's a real eye-opener. I currently use a Hamilton Beach blender that has a glass shell and cost $80 from Walmart, it does the job for making protein shakes and smoothies, I think I might just hold off on either a Blendtec or Vitamix for now.
I have spent hours researching blender safety and this is the best info I have found no doubt. Thanks for putting out the information. I have really benefitted from it. I really want to watch that documentary now as well. thanks again! I also read everything you said in the comments and found what you said very helpful; You are very evidence-based. I really want to buy your products on amazon only because I like and trust you. hahaI
+CaseyCJL Thank you. Glad it helps you! :)
If you can find the safest blender out there, I'd love to know about it. I'm trying to figure out what to buy.
Wow what an eye opener! Glad I watched this. Been researching getting a Vitamix. I am shocked at the teflon flakes and the plastic used considering what they charge for one of their units.
MyLittleGardenPlace Thank you! Glad it helps you:)
***** In case you hadn't noticed the majority of people who watch my videos are actually intelligent critical thinkers, appreciate well formed logic and reasoning and well researched presentations... apparently maybe not the sheeple you may be use to.
My channel viewers EXPECT people (your in this case) who make claims to fulfill the burden-of-proof by backing up their claims, and seeing as how you have not and instead have chosen to try to attempt to redirect (fallacious Red Herring) the discussion at me with Ad Hominem (fallaciously attacking the person not the claims) and throw in a decades old H2O (dihydrogen monoxide) attempt at humor... it is YOU who has been exposed!
Corporations don't have to pay for what they can get for free - people regurgitating their fallacious corporate rhetoric and propaganda, without checking the facts!
+killer 8520178 I hear people with the new containers still get some visible to the naked eye...
Quick question if you don't mind sparing some time to answer, the Waring MBB518 (glass with not plastic) that you recommend has a ton of negative reviews on Amazon. What do you make of that? I was about to purchase this after you recommended it in the comments but now I am hesitant due to all the 1 star reviews on Amazon.
the waring mbb518 isn't available on amazon any longer.
Talk about informative! Who could dislike this video! Keep up the good work! I definitely will be subscribing and liking it up!!!
Hi, I'm thinking to buy a powerful blender with high speed, which product do you recommend? Your comments are eye opener, thanks for the advices. But im confused which product to buy. I dont have a Vitamix 5200 nor any blender. Therefore i dont need a container to fix my old blender. For the first blender, what is your eco friendly and health friendly option? Thanks:)

Unfortunately, all high speed blenders including Vitamix and Stainless Steel Waring Xtreme contain PTFE (aka Teflon) in the blade assembly. For this reason currently I do not use high speed blender. I use regular speed Waring glass blender (no plastic on the bottom, and no PTFE ) Affiliate link:

Hi I love you & your information ... I bought the Lello 4080 love it ... I need a blender but I believe the stainless steel will get hot and change the taste . What is best ? Ty
Thank you for bringing awareness Lena this is very concerning, I'm starting to open my mind to all plastic products now, looking into this more I've found even more Vitamix/Blendtec etc. issues(search YT: vitamix black residue).
Have you had the black particle issue? Maybe you can do a vid on it :)
It's pretty outrageous what these companies are getting away with.. I hear they still haven't resolved nothing...
Thank you!
Yes, I heard about black particle issue. I will be able to make this video in a next few weeks, since I am in process of moving right now.
I was just talking to Vitamix today for about 45 minutes. I was asking if the 2200 container would fit my 5200 model that I bought about like 13 years ago. She said no but said they do make a stainless steel container that does fit my 5200. It's expensive thought at $199.95. It is a 48 oz container she said with a Tritan plastic lid and a low profile plastic tamper.
So I ordered it today.I figured it should last a long time.. The other advantages of stainless I heard is that it doesn't hold onto smells like plastic and it is faster to clean.
One other important note is the lady told me anyway that their plastic containers haven't contained BPA since 2007. Although do they container a replacement chemical that could be as bad or what about other toxic chemicals too such as PFAS or phalates that are in some plastics as well.
Hi Lena. Thanks for some very important information that I will put to use. I too question most things that have to do with my health and beliefs.
Really well done. Great citations. Thanks for putting this together.
Left a spoon inside the blender. OK, I'm done...
I wish I had know about this before I brought my vitamix back in November. Loved the video. I'm always trying to find ways to eat healthy and use natural products so this was really interesting. Thanks for the info.
I am currently looking at converting the 2200 container to run on the newer 5200 series drive and blade system. I may not be able to concert the 2200 drive spindle over to the newer drive socket system, this is a work in progress. No point in throwing out something that still works. As to the lid, I can make a new lid of any material I choose. With my Milling machine and Lathe I can make just about anything I need. Especially since Vitamix no longer supports the old 2200 machine. One advantage of the older 2200 machine is the reverse motor operation for the initial breaking down of nuts or fibrous vegetables.
Wow, great video!!! Great research you did. Thank you for sharing this with us. I look forward in watching more of your interesting, eye-opening videos. Keep them coming!
I agree!
there used to be fixit shops, where you could take your steel appliances to be repaired, and at a fair price, you could keep your stuff going for many years and employ a small family business instead of throwing everything away. my sewing machine is 100 years old and works well with only two repairs in that hundred years. I got a sewing machine from walmart and it didn't work well, and then not at all. I found out those machines are intended as disposable because they are all plastic. what? disposable sewing machine? what a rip off.
Wow, 100 year sewing machine!
Did you watch this shocking documentary the light bulb conspiracy | planned obsolescence
+EcoPeaceful You sound as if a 100 year old sewing machine is rare; in fact, it is a very common product. Had you done thorough research, say, a Google search, or search FB groups such as Treadle Quilters, or maybe a Yahoo search even, you would have known this and not looked sillier. Research, research, research... As long as it's attempted, right?
Most modern sewing machines for home use are designed to last about 5-20 years. I have sewing bussiness I know it from experience. Does it bother you if I sounds silly? It seems that you are trying hard to put me down so you would sounds smarter. LOL
+EcoPeaceful. Geez, I'm so sorry. I wasn't trying to put you down. And I really don't worry about what someone else thinks of me as I'm sure you don't either. We're both entitled to our OPINIONS.
I kind of felt that way too.
the point is, things should still be made to last. not made to throw away. the reason a hundred year old perfectly working sewing machine isn't so unusual is because they were made well.
I doubt people will pass down a perfectly working plastic disposable for four generations.
John Kerry pretending to be the hero. But this is true.
because he is?
So would you still recommend the stainless steel old version of Vitamix? Cause in your another video you say that they are both bpa ....What about glass containers?
No, I do not recommend. The plastic lid from old vitamix so old that plastic falling apart straight in to the blender.
Many glass blenders has plastic bottom, including Dynablend blender. The Waring glass blender has no plastic parts in the container. It is a good regular blender, but it is not a high speed blender, it can handle mainly liquidy recipes like fruit smoothies. Glass Waring glass blender without plastic bottom www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004S8F8/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00004S8F8&linkCode=as2&tag=ecopeacef-20&linkId=QTIFDWO6ANH4GUIC.
Thanks! But doesn't it have a plastic lid too? Also, as I've now started reading more and more on BPA in plastic, I feel some kind of frustration - we all live among the oodles of plastic stuff like bottles of water, plastic phones (we don't eat them of course, but still they are constantly in our hands and next the mouth), and the water purifiers (like the ones that stand on a table and clean the water which we drink). Also the submersive blenders that you put inside stuff to blend - they are also from plastic. Everything seems to be made from plastic. Does it mean that all they are harmful for our health? And what is the solution?
EcoPeaceful Also do you have that Waring blender yourself? Cause I see there are many negative users' reviews on it :( unfortunately
Koshe4ka777 All or most blenders have plastic lid. Plastic lid usually do not come in contact with your food, unless your overfill the blender. High speed blending is not just touches the plastic it smashes soft and hard foods against the plastic, at up to 300mph! So your food is not just touching the plastic sides and bottom it is rubbing/scraping the plastic into your food at VERY high speeds.
The area near the blade (sides and bottom) of my Vitamix blender is VERY scratched from the food I blended . According to scientists the cloudy looking, scratched plastic releases more chemicals than the new plastic. Migration of chemicals from plastic also increases when the plastic touches: hot, fatty or acidic foods. The blending is soooo fast that it creates heat from the friction. This increase in heat increases the migration of chemicals.
Here is a direct quote from the Vitamix website:
"The Vitamix® blades reach speeds fast enough to create friction heat that can bring ingredients to steaming hot in four to six minutes."
In my video Stainless Steel Replacement Container for Vitamix & Hummus Demo you can see closeup images of my scratched vitamix container after normal home use.
There are "plastic free" options almost for anything, except of technology. There are reusable stainless steel bottles and water purifiers.
In the description of the video I listed links to documentaries to learn more about plastic.
Great video!!!!!
Help!!
I have a Vitamix Super 3600 and the
drive socket (female threaded part that is housed inside the rubber has stripped (the 6 Point, not the 12)
I've found replacements on ebay but none that fit my machine!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
If you buy a vitamix or a waring or have one, please be sure to test it to make sure you not ingesting unknown black flakes. Just search for "Vitamix Black Residue" on youtube to see what I'm talking about. I went through 3 Vitamix 750s and all 3 had this defect. It does seem to extend to the entire line. I also just tried a waring extreme with the same result.
Thank you, Adam Goldstein. Yes, I was ready to invest in a new Vitamix and I was so dissapointed to read about this black particle leaching out. I've done months of research between a Blendtec, Nutribullet, Vitamix. Now, I've finally made up my mind that I'll go with a Vitamix, then I stumbled upon this black particle issue. Apparently it affects the Waring Stainless Steel one too. Arrrgh! So, so, annoyed! Now, what to buy???
Let people live their lives, and enjoy their Vitamix blenders. In case you missed the memo, we are all going to die of something.
Thank you for this video! Do you know I get the steel container in Europe I am in the U.K.
Thank you for this video. You have truly enlightened me on BPA-free and how we can't rely on these claims. I have been watching several Vitamix videos since last night trying to decide on which Vitamix buy. I will be visiting eBay to see if I can find the 2200. Thank you so much.
I do not suggest 2200 model.See my video Both are Junk! Vitamix 5200 vs 2200 Comparison - Cashew Nut Butter
Best (safest) blenders are high speed stainless steel Waring or glass Waring blender (glass is not high speed but OK for smoothies and other liquid recipes).
Fantastic video. Your knowledge is admirably. Keep up the good work, sister and enjoy your SS Vita Mix. I will try to find an old one too if I can from the UK. BTW I just bought a second hand Vitamix after being convinced of its goodness, plastic one of course. It is a journey of discovery finding out what industries, corporations and the few elitists do to poison everyone. Quite surprising to see John Kerry in the video on 'the other side' when he is regarded as one of them. Saluti!
Wow...scary. My aunt has the old fashioned Vitamix. She bought it years and years ago. Now I want to get one too.
Did you contact the Vita Mix company and tell them about this? What did they say?
Thanks for the info, guess I'll stick with my old metal Vitamix instead of getting a new one. Lovvve your accent:)
im throwing all plastic off my kitchen.... keep up the good work...god bless you
Very informative mini documentary about the hazards of plastic especially in our kitchen.
Well I have owned our Vitamix 2200 since 1969 and it is still going strong.
If vitamix made there machines out of steel the way they did in the 60s and 70s,they would end up costing well over $1000. And nobody is going to pay that much for a blender.
The cheapest (no variable speed) Waring Stainless steel Hi-Power blender on amazon cost only $544
Waring Stainless steel Hi-Power Variable-Speed blender cost $639.
Affiliate link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005V2QMH2/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005V2QMH2&linkCode=as2&tag=ecopeacef-20&linkId=OFNMSCT5CIAKDBMK
Why do you think Vitamix would cost over $1000?
Thanks for the great important information. I have a Vitamix blender from like 10 years ago. The picture is all plastic plus the plunger.
I never thought about it containing BPA but was wondering if the plastic both picture and plunger contained the also extremely toxic man-made chemicals referred to as PFAS. Not only are they toxic but they're also considered "forever chemicals" as they never naturally biodegrade in the environment thus remaining toxic for eternity!
The chemicals cause things that they are coated or contain them to be stain, oil and water resistant and they are used to prevent things from sticking to things and it makes things very slippery. I was thinking this because no matter how much I clean the plunger with soap it still beads water. Could you research these chemicals as well?
Ok I want a know if it does exist a machine that does everything that the vitamix does without any plastic?? And where to get it??
You can get high speed stainless steel Waring blender, affiliate link www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=Waring%20Stainless%20Steel%20Xtreme%20blender%20-copolyester&linkCode=ur2&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AWaring%20Stainless%20Steel%20Xtreme%20blender%20-copolyester&tag=ecopeacef-20&url=search-alias%3Daps&linkId=5CNTSBVZYJ7I6RWX

I was really wondering about the plastic leaching into my food, especially when using hot liquids.
U could clean out ur plastic blender (if u were going to keep it) with vinegar and letting it soak. It's cloudy from mineral deposits from food and water or whatever.
+kslice This is what vitamix wants you to belive, You can see scraches ain see my other video (close up imagies) after soaking in vinegar for very long time. ua-cam.com/video/xn_BfbNLNZ0/v-deo.htmlm49s

That's one of the biggest things I hate about the US federal government is the immense collusion between the regulatory agencies (who were initially set up to protect and serve the best interests of the public) and private industry. Agencies such as the FDA and EPA are "captured agencies" , that are taken over by private industries they were meant to regulate. It's no different than the Mafia taking over a police department.
The American people need to demand that their supposedly elected officials reverse this horrific practice.
I fell asleep after 2 minutes.
Glad you wake up to express yourself:)
St. Apollonius I watched it from beginning to end and absorbed the information very well, she was very clear and concise in her presentation, not to mention her European accent was very pleasant for me compared to listening to American or Canadian women with boring accents.
Anyone looking into spending $300 - $600 on these blenders need to be thorough in their research and there is some very good information presented here.
Thank you! Glad you find my video informative! :)
My dad had one of the all metal Vitamix blenders from back in the like late 90's. It even had an all wooden plunger. You can't get any more natural/toxic free than that.
I have a new Vita Mix series 300 blender. Will the Waring container work?
Yes, it fits and works on all home-use modern/new plastic vitamix
bases.
This is scary! I emailed Vitamix yesterday and asked if they were ever going to make a glass or some type of alternative to plastic, blender container. I'm not expecting to hear back from them anytime soon. If at all, I'll be surprised. I'm hoping it won't be some stupid form letter with vague information. My wet blade container does not have the internal scratches like yours does but my dry grains container does. I'm now worried about using it. I watched a video about a blender made by Tribest called the Dynablend. It claims to be a high powered blender that's just a bit lower in RPM's to the Vitamix or Blendtec. It has a glass blender container and comes with a 10 year warranty. It's also quite a bit cheaper than the higher priced commercial grade machines. It's listed on amazon at $159.99.

Tribest Dynablend blender - I was considering to buy it, until I found out that the bottom of the Tribest Dynablend blender made of plastic. The high speed blender is smashing food against the plastic. So your food it is not just touching the plastic, it is also (and maybe more so) scraping/rubbing/smashing the food against the plastic.
According to Vitamix they say their high speed blender goes as fast as 300 MPH (35,000 RPM) so that would indicate that 22,000 RPM would be just under 200 MPH. Food traveling at 200 MPH smashing against plastic.
According to my research, migration of chemicals from plastic increases when the plastic touches: hot, fatty, salty, or acidic foods.
In addition blending creates friction heat that increases migration of chemicals. From Vitamix website: "The Vitamix® blades reach speeds fast enough to create friction heat that can bring ingredients to steaming hot in four to six minutes."
EcoPeaceful I did receive an answer from Vitamix to my inquiry. I was told that they will not be making any glass pitchers for the blender but hinted to me that they are developing something new in an answer to the many inquiries from customers regarding their concern about using plastic. While I found this comment interesting, I'm not holding my breath for anything to happen anytime soon. Maybe, hopefully they will bring back the stainless steel container? Fingers crossed X.
helpfulnatural Their FAQ www.vitamix.com/Owners-Resources/Product-Support/FAQs says:
Our Research and Development Team is continuously researching product development. Currently, they have not found a suitable glass container design to meet the strict safety and performance requirements Vitamix places on its products.
Thanks for inquiring -- have you heard anything more specific from them?
Yowzoe Vitamix does not reply/address plastic issues. For more details see my video Is Vitamix Truly "BPA Free"? No Reply from Vitamix! Why I don't use Vitamix anymore!
I rarely leave comments but this video was very informative. never knew #7plastics contained bpa's.
Currently I am using a Waring glass blender (no plastic on the bottom, and no "black specs" aka PTFE/teflon) Affiliate link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004S8F8/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00004S8F8&linkCode=as2&tag=ecopeacef-20&linkId=5U62TVKIOLR7KTZR
The Waring glass blender is good blender, but it is not as big or powerful as Vitamix or the Waring Xtreme.
nerina d'istra Great question! Thank you for asking. I could only find one blender without plastic on the bottom and PTFE (aka Teflon) Many glass blenders has a plastic bottom, my Vitamix got scratched on the bottom and sides around the blade from normal blending (I had never used ice), scratched plastics release more chemicals into the food. IMO, using glass blender with plastic bottom is not much of an upgrade. High speed blenders also have PTFE (aka Teflon) in the blade assembly and it also leaches into the food. Contact blender company before buying and ask if blender has plastic on the bottom and PTFE in the blade assembly. If you contact them I would like to know their responce(s).
,
Did you find out if Magimix 850 watts is PTFE free in the blade assembly? Thanks
this is so disturbing that Vitamix has yet not corrected this today and without knowing any better I spent a great deal of money for a better health just this past June. I did wonder how such a powerful blender could be made of plastic. but just thought it would be fine. Thank you so much EcoPeaceful for sharing. this is really a shame they can't fix this!!!
You speak better English than some Americans anyway thanks a lot for the video I was going to buy a vitamix but like lots of other blenders the containers are made of plastic and the only bottled water I can find in stores is Voss and its not cheap.
do you think it could work on 6300. Also there is an instruction in the manual saying if I use another accessories than part form vitamix that could provoke fire, electric shock or injuries. And also, said if you don't follow any important safeguards and the important instructions (including the that i'm telling you) for safe use is a misuse of your vitamix blender that can void your warranty and create the risk of serious injury.
really have those to imformation in the user manual.
I just want your opinion on it and also I was thinking to get the ware stainless steel container if you think it could work as the 5200 and not saying anything about using that container to the compagny to not loose the warranty, but I don't want to be in trouble.
Waring will work on 6300 model. If you inform Vitamix or Waring that you are using a container from another company they can void your warranty.
It is not connected to any electrical component. I do not see how it can increase the risks, since the the Waring and Vitamix have drive socket and blade connector/gear (simply two metal component connecting) seems to be identical, see this image of the Waring blender cookwarepro.com/images/images_big/WARING_MX1050XTX_4.jpg
The main risk from my perspective is plastic Vitamix container.
Did you contact Vitamix or try to return your Vitamix?
no, I didn't do it, For now I'm trying it, to see if I keep it or not. I just bought it at costco in sherbrooke last saturday evening, I have 3 months to return it and I have been cautious with the accessories, cook book and the machine to be able to return it. If I choose to not keeping it. It's just if I decide to keep it, I don't want to loose the warranty. So I though using it except to make soup and raise some money aside to get the stainless steel container and to buy it. But like I said It's stipulate they can void the warranty in that manual safety guard instruction in my cook book
included with my machine in the package.
I may add some specification. I am more on trial time, I didn't register myself on the warranty yet.
My opinion - I would return it. You can buy Waring blender with stainless steel container or glass container (glass - not a high speed).
WOW. Thank you for this eye opening video and great research.
What's the point of a blender where you can't even see what you're blending? Many studies have shown that BPA is fine. I understand the want for surgical steel but honestly an opaque blender just seems terribly impracticle, having to constantly stop it and peek inside and all
Am looking forward to TRIBEST getting the bugs out of their new DYNABLEND blender. Has problems with gear at base and needs stronger motor, but has glass container and unique pulse modes... if they fix will be a top competitor and they should do this quickly to keep their reputation for high quality.
You are with so much beauty that it can be distracting. Yes the Oster glass jar with all metal drive it the winner -thumbs up.
+Ecopeaceful thank you for helping me see that bpa is still in tritan materials. Is the Swiss made Bamix immersion blender a practical option in your opinion? I believe the entire blade assembly is stainless steel. Best wishes to you and family always.
+greatlakestrader You are welcome. Sorry I am not familiar with the Swiss made Bamix immersion blender.
High speed blenders (Vitamix, Waring...) also contain PTFE (Teflon) that flakes into the food :(

Thankyou for the education!
EXCELLENT video and why I am an all the way Blendtec man...perhaps you should consider a Blendtec!
Did you actually watch the full video?
Blendtec is also made with the same Eastman Tritan copolyester plastic!
So are these claimed "BPA Free" plastic containers - Waring, Omega, Ninja, Breville, NutriBullet, Hamilton Beach...
What are your thoughts on blendtec? Thanks
Blendtec and other "BPA-free" blenders use the same plastic (Eastman Tritan™ copolyester) in thier containers.
Solution - Waring Stainless steel container fits and works perfectly on the modern home-use Vitamix bases :-) I have personally tested on the 5200 model base! Affiliate link ecopeaceful.com/Waring-Stainless-Steel-Container
I'd love to try this stainless steel container but I'm worried that it would void my warranty with Vitamix. I still have 4+ years left of warranty on my machine.
Does the Waring stainless steel container fit and work on your newer 5200 model?
helpfulnatural Yes, Waring fits and works with all modern Vitamix bases.
helpfulnatural How would Vitamix find out unless you tell them?
It would be really helpful if you do a video to demo this ?
love your video :) thanks you so much for enlightening :) love your English :P
fabulous info, thanksssssss sooo much! you are my heroine! oxo
What about newer machine today like 7500 Professional Vitamix is the container truly BPA. Have they ever fix that problem? Vitamix iis still one of top of super blender out there today.
All modern/newer plastic Vitamix, Blentec, Ninja and other "BPA-free" blenders are made from the same Eastman Tritan copolyester plastic. Do you know that the "super blender Vitamix" and many other high speed blenders releases PTFE (teflon) into the food/liquid?
The only way to get away from the plastic issue within the kitchen and with cookware GLASS is the only choice when it comes do knowing what your food comes into contact with. But everybody knows this ... right?
Fabulous information we all need to know about. Thank you for sharing.
Glad to hear that the replacement containers are so inexpensive!
The price itself should concern you in regards to the quality of the stainless steel used. There are different grades of ss, and to sell at a reasonable or lower cost I would HIGHLY question what you're getting. Makes no sense ecologically, physically or financially to replace one (supposedly) inferior product with another (possibly) inferior. To be directed to several thorough scientific studies done on the specific stainless steel material used to make their inexpensive replacements should be required. Just as she demands more thorough studies on the Triton material. JMO
If you leave the spoon in the blender, your probably drunk.
Can you get money back from your mail order of Sherlock Holmes Kit?
I am a parent. I left spoon in the Vitamix, because I got distracted by my son.
EcoPeaceful I've done that too, luckily on a cheap blender. I'm a mum to young kids, I get distracted all the time. I don't drink alcohol at all. Don't feel bad EcoPeaceful, it happens a lot. :)
If anyone knows how to change the 8 AMP fuse fitted to the underside of the Vitamin Pro 500, please let me know. Thanks : )
Sorry but I'm very happy with my Vitamix 7500
Hi. I do hope you get and answer, and please make a video. thanks
thanks for posting this informative and interesting video. my vitamix is history as a result......

Is there one that will fit on 750 model?thanks for taking pains to create the awareness.
Aliki Giakas
Similar to the Vitamix, the blade on the Waring Stainless Steel container is attached by a nut and is therefore removable and replaceable - unlike the Blendtec which are as you say "built in".
SHERU4444
Yes, it fits perfectly on the modern models of the Vitamix bases.
*****
It fits all home-use modern vitamix bases.
Will this work on Vitamix Professional 750?
Hahahha I've never heard of leaving a spoon in a blender lol
Great Video ! Love your English. You should be an international star !
Thank you for the video. I am Shocked about the chemical leakage and the coverups from the government!
You can’t recycle #7 because it is a sort of catch all for multiple types that don’t fit into the other categories. They can’t mix them or it becomes contaminated. Your blender is just scratched from use. It’s not a big deal to eat a few micro particles of plastic for the same reason it’s not a big deal to breathe in tiny bits of dust or your own dead skin cells covering your bed at night. Why not talk about the the tiny bits of burnt carbonized material on your food that has “dangerous carcinogens” if you’re so worried. You eat tiny amounts of pesticides and herbicides or dirt, insects, and/or bruises on fruits and veggies all the time. Yet the impact of pesticides and herbicides makes general health and availability of fresh food better, not worse. Also, antioxidants are there to protect against free radical damage, including helping your body to manufacture its own to maintain itself! But stop living by this everything not good for you is a toxin categorization.
Remember that the dose makes the poison. It is correct that BPA is esteogenic. However, impact and amount of BPA is so small at the scale of one blender or your water bottles and Tupperware it’s not a big deal at all. If you can’t use BPA, you have to use another bisphenol in order to strengthen the plastic. And hint hint, most of them are estrogenic but nobody talks about that. It’s nothing to worry about. There’s way more BPA on your receipts from the store compared to what leeches out of these plastics which by the way, only happens the most at high temp with non polar compounds like cooking oil or butter. We are also being bombarded by gamma rays from space constantly, but nobody talks about that. You’re much more likely to get skin cancer from the sun than run into issues with this stuff, and yet very few people even care to put on sunscreen every time they go outside.
thanks for the the video ,it was very helpful
Thanks for watching :)
Очень хорошая информация!!! Спасибо!
Ivanna R. пожалуйста, я рада, что вам понравилось
Dear gods, you are committed.
Thank you
Thank you my friends....my name is Juan salinas....gold information
Great video! Thanks also for the link re: Waring-Stainless-Steel-Container :-) .. EDIT after 30 mins more reading===> uh oh, now I've read that the 'stainless steel' container can get rust spots (and someone-- below --explained that there are other metals in with 'stainless steel'...omg!) Not looking so good, eh, but sounds like hope now is there will be a GLASS container (someday?)...at least for those that do serious grinding etc. Whew, well, glass would solve it for everyone.
Who cares, next month water will be bad for you, it's a joke what people worry about!
like smoking, seatbelts and asbestos, oh dear those fullish people find themselves a reason to worry about.
Why Is it such a deal if I'm just using vitamix to make smoothie , and juices it should be fine , it's not like using it to make soup !
1.When food is smashing against the plastic on a very high speed, it creates scratches, see my scratches here ua-cam.com/video/xn_BfbNLNZ0/v-deo.htmlm5s
Scratches on the plastic possibly more harmful than heat.
Watch here what BPA scientists say about scratched plastic ua-cam.com/video/tGjEIGI5MLs/v-deo.htmlm37s
2. Blending smoothies also creates heat. The blades are millimeters away from the plastic. From Vitamix website "The Vitamix® blades reach speeds fast enough to create friction heat that can bring ingredients to steaming hot in four to six minutes."
You are right , I am now considering getting a waring commercial CAC90 Stainless Steel Container at amazon . Com so I can replace the plastic container for my vitamix !
but i think steel is also toxic! do you know a good glas container?
Do you have a link to a study that shows that food grade stainless steel is toxic?
Many glass blenders has plastic bottom. The Waring glass blender has no plastic parts in the container. It is a good regular blender, but it is not a high speed blender, it can handle mainly liquidy recipes like fruit smoothies.
It is toxic due to the levels of nickel in the metal mix. Nickel is a carcinogenic. The only stainless steel that does not leach the nickel in amounts that cause any concern is surgical grade. If her replacement was made of surgical stainless steel none could afford it. That's what irritates me with claims like hers, and look closely at her "affiliate" links, i.e.: for profit links. Research stainless steel grades..
Can you specify/quote my claims that irritates you?
+Em Meyer Can you please provide evidence that "It is toxic due to the levels of nickel" in the food grade stainless steel.
Every link EcoPeaceful posts has a tag: "ecopeacef" in the address. looks like she is making money for advertising the Waring Commercial CAC90 Stainless Steel Container, and the Waring glass blender, and the Waring Stainless steel Hi-Power Variable-Speed blender. In my mind this puts her credibility in question.
Yes, amazon link is an affiliate link. This video I made before I discovered Waring Stainless Steel container. I also do not use stainless steel container anymore because it is has PTFE/teflon in the blade assembly (both plastic Vitamix and Waring Xtreme has PTFE/teflon in the blade assembly and possibly all others high speed blenders has the same issue).
It is good to question everything. See the links in the description for your credibility check.
I think I'll look into purchasing the Waring product since the scientific documentation in her post is ligit, regardless. The point is to find the safest product.
John Kerry is your spokesman...Really?
Because Ted Cruz would care? Mitch McConnell? *Any* right wing demagogue at all?
+Yowzoe Rand Paul would care.
Vitamix uses ALL METAL GEARS. Some of it is plastic....
Left a spoon in your blender and admit to starting it up later. You must be a comedian.
Ин зис видео айм гоинг ту эксплейн вай ай бот эн олд....
definitely Russian ice cream
Seriously???? Jesus...
I think you need to go back to Russia. I want to watch you on those dash cam videos.
+Uncle Bernie omg LOL
Total BS.. Piece together bs to scare
just use your teeth to blend the food!
Акцент-то наш)
can you maybe make a belly dancing video:D
btw the vita mix is no plastic its acual high polarmar glass thats fused with plastic so it feels like plastic but its not and vita mix is the fastest blenser ever made 5200 rpms
+Kalven Rangel Vatamix states that they containers made from Eastman Tritan™ copolyester, which is plastic. Can you please present some evedence that they containers are not plastic.
What the heck are you talking about. A. It's plastic, B. Vitamix is not the fastest blender ever, C. Vitamix blends between 23,000 and 28,000 RPM, not 5200 RPM. Please shut up.
If u r not happy with vitamix come back to Russia
