    My mother just bought a car from motorpoint. She was over the moon and proud of herself for arranging it all . Didn’t take me long to notice the re used crush washer causing a massive oil leak and it was massively overfilled. How can basics be so hard. Ps Thankyou for the video again

    moral of the story is always check after a service,my dad recently had his golf done got home checked the oil and was none in there.
    could have been a very expensive mistake,garage tried to blame my dad hence won't be going back there.

    Hi there. I have a Mitsubishi ASX DHD 2015. I get this “check engine oil level” warning every 6 month. I check the oil level, it shows high so I take the car to a Mitsubishi service dealer and they tell me every time that the DPF has tried to do a regen and failed and the excess unburnt diesel has gone into the oil sump. I see the comments around people driving their diesel vehicles short distances however this is not the case for me. I drive long distances daily in this vehicle. I’m convinced that Mitsubishi set a 6 month timer for diesel to be added to the sump so the warning is set off so that customers will need to take their vehicles to Mitsubishi for services because they are the only ones with the diagnostic tools which can talk to the vehicles. Manual DPF regen and oil change required $$$. See you again in 6 months. Very frustrating.

    good morning, Luis i bought a brand-new ford in 2007 after a week took it back to main dealer where i had it from with a page of faults. explained to rep what and how i wanted faults fixed and how i did not want them fixed ie bodged. two weeks later had call to pick up car not only they bodged the fix of all they had done less than half of list the morning we returned the car to to have faults fixed my partner bought a set of new rubber mats black with silver diamonds and the day we picked the car up the mats in the rear was covered in oil and mileage had just over 85 miles added the rep said it was test drive milage i took the car away telling them i would never buy a car from them again if i knew then what i know now i would have rejected car and asked for new replacement from that point i never trust big Companys to do any work on cars i do my self

    The reason of this is that this car has dpf and while burning out dpf some part of diesel mixes with oil in time causing raising the level of oil. And not even level of oil is so dangerous but mixed diesel with engine oil makes is more liquid and doesn't lubricate the engine so well. For this aspect it is necessary to replace engine oil to a new one and reset computer flag so computer knows that oil has been replaced.

    • @peterjennings8258
      @peterjennings8258 4 місяці тому

      How regularly do you find it ends up high? I have an ASX and I find I need to change oil every 6 months as level gets too high..
      Seems excessive, but I have always checked that level is correct after changing, and I believe it is due to diesel getting into the oil as part of the dpf regeneration cycle.

    Looking at the viscosity of the oil I say it's synthetic oil and generally, it comes in 5 liters, what many mechanics fail to understand is that vehicles from the 2010 model are much more sensitive than later. They don't read the manual nor do they check the dipstick, all they want to do is drain the oil, replace the filter empty a can of oil check for licks off you go. It's painful when a client calls to say the engine is behaving erratically. How can a mechanic put 6-liter regular oil on a car that is written on the filling cap 5W 30?
    Good fix man, as usual always fun to watch.

    Yes, these 4N13/14's can put fuel into the engine oil, but not likely from any DPF burn. The DPF regen does inject more fuel into the cylinders to raise the exhaust gas temperature to burn the ash from the DPF but only for a few minutes (varies between engines, but I think about 5 minutes max). The amount of fuel used to do this is negligible, and will be burned during the normal combustion process. You WILL NOT see oil level increase on your dipstick under normal operation unless you have a bigger problem. Most manufacturers recommend an oil change after a manual DPF regen also. For absolute sure I would be keeping a check on the oil level every few days for a couple of weeks to ensure you are not diluting your oil with diesel. Cause could be a leaking injector, or HP fuel pump seal if this rise is continuing. Driving with badly diluted fuel destroys engines.

  • @beluxauto5968
    @beluxauto5968 2 роки тому +4

    I believe that there are some brands that don't accept manual oil resets anymore. They will reset the mileage for the oil to be changed but it won't reset the dilution. This triggers DPF faults and in some cases limp mode. Lube shops should be aware of these things but it seems that they have no clue.

    They probably let the apprentice loose on it unsupervised.
    When my best mate used to work for a certain garage chain, fuck ups were common place. One lad changed an exhaust and forgot to do up the bolts! The exhaust came loose, caught on the road and was ripped off, causing loads of damage to the customers car.
    That was just one example of many.

    I have a similar vehicle, mine is the 4N14 2.2 diesel. That oil level calculated saying 1550 cc, should be reset back to zero after every oil change. If you don't you will have the message that is showing. Once you reset the oil level that message will be removed.
    See that 'X' on the dipstick that is a visual guide to show you how much the oil is diluted. Once it reaches the 'X' it needs to have the oil changed, and the oil level reset back to zero.
    There is no documentation to tell you about the special functions and resetting the oil level. This is your typical dealer expense trap.

    Got an ASX Diesel too. I have a problem with oil dilution. I am no longer traveling long distances on a daily base. Mostly short distances. So the DPF cleaning cycle runs most time not properly. Some of the fuel gets into the oil. The oil gets changed every 12 Months in the shop. I remove it every 6 Months and put new in. I use a pump through the dip stick. The oil is some nasty stuff. Even after this short time. Not perfect but much better than leaving the old stuff in.

    I don't understand how diesel gets into the sump. Injectors go straight into the cylinder, so what could cause this if not worn piston rings and or failing PCV valve?
    Is there fuel being pumped into the cylinder during exhaust stroke?

    It's not an oil level sensor that triggers the warning, it is a calculation that the ECU makes based on the number of DPF regenerations the car performs using an assumption that some diesel makes it into the crankcase. The oil level is not actually high, but you should do an oil reset at each oil change to clear the value.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  8 місяців тому

    Hi Luis, could you explain a little more about diesel getting into the engine oil please, I had a car with too much oil in it, definitely not over filled at the service, I thought it might have been injector leak or injector pump leaking diesel into the sump, is there an issue with regens that can cause diesel getting into the engine oil? thanks..

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 роки тому

      Yes... if the DPF system is not working correctly and/or too often regenerations can cause oil dilution... or oil contamination...
      This is because to regenerate the DPF, the ecu injects fuel during the exhaust stroke...
      Hope that helps...

      This wasn't a mechanic fault, there is no actual engine oil level sensor for this Mitsubishi engine, actually you can run the engine up to 8 lits of oil without any check light, usually when the scan tool telling you oil level is up to 1550 and oil level is up to the X mark on dip stick it is meant some DPF or intake plumbing issues ECU keep dumping fuel into the engine and diluted with engine oil.

    The way you parked on the ramps, you’re lucky your not dead!!!! Video also 14 minutes too long, just needed resetting.

      Way bigger cars have parked on this ramps... and I am still here...
      The video was long as it had to be...
      In the end, I also knew it just needed resetting, ( and remove the excess of oil...), but I didn't knew that at the start...

      Is* there’s diesel getting into the oil which keeps it overfill. It’ll kill the turbo soon enough
