This game was a nostalgic masterpiece, one of my favorites on the Wii as a kid alongside Wii Sports, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, and boy, was Monopoly entertaining
Great review, I have this game, and I agree with your thoughts. Yes it gets really boring if you're playing by yourself and the time to go through the other player's turns takes too long. I can't really tell how much something costs in a small icon as you said too. I have to squint at the TV. I know about the luck too, I went from $7000 in Richest to $0 due to luck in TWO rounds...hehe. It's enjoyable, but the details need a little work.

I love the classic board game Monopoly. My sister and I were stoners for a long time and we used to sit and play it ALL day. Finish at least 2-3 games a day. We also played the Wii a lot when baked, so you can imagine how thrilled we were when we saw this game for sale in Cash Generators. We took it home and started right after a few bong hits. It was total rubbish. We were used to playing at our own fast pace and not having to auction anything we landed on. It was very slow and annoying for us. It was also extremely irritating to have the little man explain things we already knew EVERY turn, and to have ANY speaking in general as our games were usually silent. We were practically telepathic and fluently communicated through subtle hand gestures or expressions. The game interrupted this flow terribly We stopped about 3 rounds of the board in and took the disc out. We then gave it away to our little cousin who used it as a pallet for his new oil paints 🎨 I’m glad he got more enjoyment out of it than we did. And I’m also glad it only cost £3. We will always prefer the physical game over any digital version. Although, the mobile official version is actually rather good. It is pretty fast paced and allows rule changes more specific to our needs. It also doesn’t speak to you like a child every two 30 seconds.
I used to like Monopoly for the Wii, but then I played Mario Party 8, and MP8 > Monopoly. Also, I like in this Monopoly being able to screw yourself out of the game so you can only watch it.
its weird because the first time i tried this, it worked and I wrote this comment. I tried it again and it didn't work. I kept trying until finally it worked. I think that if you refresh the page with a few seconds to go, it works but it takes the same time to watch the ad then to refresh the page
I feel like they didn't put online play because it would seem weird with random people. playing with you because people are so used to playing with their family.
There are so many versions of video game monopoly out there for almost every major system. It's ironic but the best version is probably the NES version. It's the only one I can think of where the pacing wasn't ruined by animations that took forever between turns. It also has a pleasant yet minimalistic interface for better longterm viewing.
@sebiandrei2008 I know. At my old school, during lunch there was this program and I went to it. We played Monopoly everyday. One game lasted a whole week.
Heres how to play against just one computer player: After you choose your human player, when choosing the computer players there is a button above there icon that says easy skill. click the arrow next to this to change it medium skill, again for hard skill and again for none. If on none then you skip to the next player and. Repeat for the other computer players. This game is ok but the board is so small i really have trouble seeing it. And the lack of online multi player is such a shame.
My family plays where if you land on a tax or chance or etc where you have to pay money, the money goes in the midde of the board, and whoever lands on free parking gets it.
It doesn't force you to play with 4 players. You can choose to play with 2 to 4 players. I've played this game dozens of times. Not that it matters, but, i've won way more games than i've lost. But who's counting?
Oh, thank you for clarifying, bob! It's come to me like a revelation, and it all makes sense. I would know nothing about buying properties anyhow, because I live in the ghetto and eat ramen noodles for almost every meal. Oh, the inadequacy and shame I feel! I'm sorry for questioning your words, because after all, they are your words and not mine. I humbly ask for your forgiveness. You should not have had to take the time to explain that.
There is a free version of monopoly on pogo that I played a couple of months ago. It's more idiot proof which I think is more fun and I kind of liked it even though the people kicked my ass on it. I have monopoly tycoon that I like as well that came out a few years ago. I am not huge on monopoly but playing it from time to time is nice.
I just can't grasp the concept of games like this. Why would anyone want to buy a Wii version of Monopoly when you can just buy the actual board game, which is a lot more fun to play?
Well, thanks for the kinda compliment. I agree with you about my voice, but I can't do anything about it so...sorry. I guess your not going to be a subscriber. :)
Watching 10 years after this video was made.
Got you beat, 12 years after this video was released.
So happy to see I'm not the only person who is watching these old videos.
They don't force you to play with four players, you just scroll through the skills and after scrolling a bit it says none.
awesome review, i'm insanely impressed with how you seemed to explain everything in seemingly one breath
Quarantine has me so bored I’m out here watching reviews of monopoly
This game was a nostalgic masterpiece, one of my favorites on the Wii as a kid alongside Wii Sports, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, and boy, was Monopoly entertaining
I have played this game years back when my family used to have a wii and the Mini-Games were actually my favourite part of the game for some reason

Man, I love the main theme of this game! Really makes me feel like a businessman

Me and my family played this,I love that game
I wish they gave the option to make Mr. Monopoly shut up
i live these reviews never stop
I used to like Monopoly for the Wii, but then I played Mario Party 8, and MP8 > Monopoly.

well done but that richest thingy was confusing from the first sentence lol.
@jesmurf That isn't in the rule book. The rule is if you roll doubles 3 times you go to jail.
The rule my family did is that every turn, we would put money in the middle of the board and if you land on free parking, you get the pile.
its weird because the first time i tried this, it worked and I wrote this comment. I tried it again and it didn't work. I kept trying until finally it worked. I think that if you refresh the page with a few seconds to go, it works but it takes the same time to watch the ad then to refresh the page
in the richest mode, what happens if you land on one of your space and you don't have a monopoly for this color
A house rule we have is, when someone lands on the free parking space, that person gets all the money in the tax pile.
I love monopoly! ^^
RedToa94 Like the money in the middle? I thought that was a standard rule
I feel like they didn't put online play because it would seem weird with random people. playing with you because people are so used to playing with their family.
@megaverner That depends what console. The iPhone version only costs $3
@GamerPersonTV To show that unlike the older monopoly console games,it has it.
Minus all the problems,I would still enjoy the game.
Wii Music is up next and its not going to be a skip.

wii music got a rent

Why didn't they just put the original Monopoly board, instead of the Around The World edition?
@wiiviewr Try the iPhone version, it's pretty fun and it has a Wi-Fi mode and a Bluetooth mode.
What happened to 8 players, like in the past consoles (NES, SNES)?

for a multiplayer game, online is sorely lacking. if it supported the wii mic, that would be awesome.
i like monopoly do u think i should get it or is it worse than the board 1... plz reply
I remember when I was little I thought the monopoly person was caillou with a mushsike
GhostAlpaca xD
LOOOLL
That's what I think to, no need to but the game when you can buy the cheaper board game and have more fun with it.
There's a PSVita commercial on wiiviewr's channel?
Great review, like always!!!
Hmmm... this won't be going on my wish list now!
My family plays where if you land on a tax or chance or etc where you have to pay money, the money goes in the midde of the board, and whoever lands on free parking gets it.
Thats how it works right
It doesn't force you to play with 4 players. You can choose to play with 2 to 4 players. I've played this game dozens of times. Not that it matters, but, i've won way more games than i've lost. But who's counting?
YES I FOUND OUT HOW TO GET RID OF COMMERCIALS!!! All u have to do is refresh the page once the ad starts :D
@jesmurf And if you roll doubles you get to go again.
great review, you going to review da blob?
@IMFAgent1 thats his thing if he dies while recording he puts it at the end of the review
I don't mind there being no online since Monopoly takes forever to play
@KellymusicShetina93
Yes that version was soo funny because you could see your properties ; )
I LOVE AD BLOCK

Woah! Ever heard of full stops? lol
Monopoly stays a family game and well it looks like it is still the same. But you know that isn't bad IF sold at a good price, 40? To much!
u can get it in walmart for like $20 :)
Play the Super Famicom version its pretty damn fun
i found it at gamestop for 20 should i get it?
Monopoly semmes to be an english version of "Matador"
why did you say "yah" then ?
it would be worth it if it had multiplayer :(
There is a free version of monopoly on pogo that I played a couple of months ago. It's more idiot proof which I think is more fun and I kind of liked it even though the people kicked my ass on it. I have monopoly tycoon that I like as well that came out a few years ago. I am not huge on monopoly but playing it from time to time is nice.
i don't think the online multiplayer fits monopoly since a game could take days to finish...
im most likely gonna rent this cause i never have played monopol-(SHOT)
the best video game version is on the ipod touch
I got a free cd of monopoly in a packet of lcms, it was great.
You know, I actually like Richest mode.
@megaverner Some people are too lazy to organize and move their pieces.
All the reviews at the end he makes the player lose
FATE UNCERTAIN
He's from America, but he may have Danish ancestry.
The board game?
P1, do you want to trade?
@megaverner It is easier to understand the rules on a console.
the PS3 version has online so i'll probably get that one for 15 bucks
@IMFAgent1 that is a running joke in his reviews.
1:18 3:09
ive onley played the mario monoperley
@LoneSoul0742 The Phone version is $2
I just can't grasp the concept of games like this. Why would anyone want to buy a Wii version of Monopoly when you can just buy the actual board game, which is a lot more fun to play?
oo sweet capitalism
no the wiiviewier means that you should not buy the game! IT'S NOT WIIWARE!
I would prefer the actual board game
Get Adblock! It works every time!
I have never played Monoploy xD
Does this game allow multi-player trades?
Yes
@megaverner same reason why anyone would buy any of the scene it video games I guess
